knowzmyname I agree with Joan and you too. Kim is far more intelligent that most of the women of her intense beauty in Hollywood. That was the problem. She was a great actress.
I will probably be stoned by the Bette Davis fans but I think Kim was more convincing as Mildred...She didn't play Mildred as only a hardened whore. She conveyed an inner softness and sensitivity. She is ultimately a "quiet " actress. She draws you in...she isn't all smoke and mirrors and posing and bravura. She isn't "Look at me " in any of her roles...Kim is an underappreciated actress
"That's sick, Joan!" I never liked Harvey either. Now it's hard to watch the ending of this movie cause all I can think of his garlic breath. Kim is great, a living legend. She gave us a lot of stuff when you look over her catalog. I loved her in the 50's but was glad to see her grow into her self in the 60's. She seemed much happier and deserved every bit of it. The critics were so hard on her but when I see stuff like "The Pushover" I don't get it. Her 1st movie & damn, she even got to me.
With Larry's Harveys Magic Touch Kim..deserved an Best Actress Oscar..in light of the fact that past & future actresses Liz Taylor & Julie Christie did win Best Actress Oscars...playing opposite him...., so dont credit the director for the that..but the Chemistry of one's co-lead.
Shirley Maclaine also hated Laurence Harvey. After he insulted her, she got back at him by eating a clove of garlic before their love scene. Its in her book "My lucky Stars".
Kim Novak was beat & a good actress. I don’t care what Laurence Harvey did. He was a wonderful actor. Kim Novack has no sense of humor. Joan Rivers was a horrible person
