Joan had to bitch her way to win. Despite missing shows and basically forcing her daughter on the show - and when her daughter was fired, she used nepotism. Donald was familiar with that - and knew it was better for an iconic female comedian to win than a barely famous poker player. These are the seasons I hated. I hated that he would fire most people because they weren’t as famous. The ONLY time he didn’t do this was the last season when he fired a Jonas Brother early on - which turned out to be a terrible decision.
I don’t see how Oprah is a role model.. she has exaggerated everything about herself pre fame, has herself always been obsessed with her weight and appearance and though she performs empathy, she seems to lack genuine empathy. She’s faked it till she’s made it. She has batted for the system, that’s why she’s allowed to succeed
Wow this is hard to watch and very sad the way it was so acceptable to degrade women into feeling they had to look a certain way. Even doing it to one another. Sad. And women have suffered mightily because of it.
Joan Rivers, before she died said that Michelle Obama was a man. She had no shame and went over the top here. What if someone had talked about her horrible plastic surgery that basically turned Joan into a Muppet?

Slow metabolism and emotional trauma can lead to a lifetime of weight issues. Joan was way out of line here. Much like Barbara Walters who used to get way too personal and judgemental with her FEMALE guests. The 1980s and 1990s (and times before this) were so difficult for women in the entertainment industry.
Omg. Oprah used to talk about her weight on her show all the time!! People became so used to hearing about Oprah trying to.lose weight...all from her own big mouth. So of course Joan brings it up because Oprah was so freely talking about her weight on the Oprah show. Now all these years later Oprah wants to remember it as if she was a victim in her own fat shaming. By the way, For everyone here that has short term memory loss, Joan Rivers poked fun at all of her guests and made jokes about everyone but mostly she joked about her own appearance. That was Joan's schtik and it was funny and entertaining. Oprah needs to pull her head out of her ass and remember exactly how it was back then and put the blame on herself not others. Oprah Winfrey show was a yearly spectacle on her roller coaster weight gain & weight loss.

I’m sorry…love or hate Joan…Oprah is the one who brought up that she gained 50 lbs. and she didn’t look too happy about it. Joan asked her how she gained the weight…which is not the same as calling her “fat”, but that’s how Oprah tells it. And honestly, I think Joan was being playful and humorous and trying to cheer Oprah on. I know that’s hard to grasp for some. I get it. But sometimes we need tough love when we are suffering. Oprah said she gained 50 lbs. and expressed interest in losing it. Joan then made a deal that if Oprah lost 15 of the 50 (not even half), she would lose 5. People do this all the time in life with gym buddies. Obviously they don’t have cameras pointing at them while they do it. But really, Joan was a Gemini and they have curious, child-like minds…so it wasn’t that unnatural a follow-up question after Oprah chose to bring it up *herself*.

I'm sure she felt REALLY stupid, when she was still alive, to see OPRAH achieve the success as a Billionaire media mogul, something that her bony, ugly, privileged white behind never achieved, while she was still alive. Oprah is part of that billionaire cult that is influencing the world and we allow them to do that. We should never allow billionaires to get our votes, likes, followings.
Joan was so obsessed with her looks and she was not attractive. She tried to fit the glamorous Hollywood look. She just didn’t fit that mold. Nor did Oprah. Oprah even to this day is a fluke how she raised to fame. Because so many could have done her job.
