A Case for AMillennialism is excellent, we are going through it now in our church theology group .

Dr. Riddlebarger's point around 17:00 and following, concerning the importance of missions as over and against culture wars is insightful. I admit to giggling a little when my postmill church invited Voddie B. (an amill man) to be the speaker at our missions conference this year.

He acknowledged that Jesus talked like the prophets but didn't understand how their words were symbolic and hyperbolic. Stars don't need to fall literally, so we can have more (not all) fulfillment in 70AD than he is comfortable with.

If John MacArthur believes in a pretrib rapture, I proceed with caution. I’m starting to see that’s not the case but I still very much respect those who do believe in it.

The authors of the Westminster and 1689 Baptist Confessions of Faith were CLEAR on the identity of the "man of sin, son of perdition" (2 Thes. 2:3-4). The "restrainer" was the Roman Empire. Dan. 7 tells us that that the "little horn" (Antichrist) would arise only after the fall of the Roman Empire. This "little horn" would continue for, 'a time, times, and half a time' (1,260 days = YEARS!) before receiving a "deadly wound" (Rev. 13) which has been healing ever since. A "beast" in Bible prophecy (cf. Dan. 7, and Rev. 13) refers to an EMPIRE; not a single, solitary, individual human being. We know full-well what the Triune God has revealed about the identity of the Antichrist. It's a pure BLINDNESS that prohibits professing Christians from seeing the truth. *Soli Deo Gloria*

Hooray! Someone who still believes that the man of sin and son of perdition is that Antichrist, that succession of Popes, i.e. the Papacy or the Roman Catholic Church. There are few of us left, brother! Also, the Antichrist's "deadly wound" has been healed! And the whole world is beginning to wonder after the beast!

All of the eschatological confusion we have is due to the unsanctified mind of men who fail to recognize the propensity to cling to this world which every eschatological view lays stress on except the Amillenial view which is perfectly consistent with all that Jesus Peter John and Paul taught on the subject. That Jesus commanded and emphasized the readiness and watchfulness of His apostles that is too plainly seen in the words of our Lord to them. The two outstanding events Jesus in His olivet discourse spoke of were, 1) the final destruction of the temple to signify the official end of National Israel. 2) the rise of false prophets and false Christs or Messiah like figures who would perform signs and wonders to deceive His elect if it were possible. The other outstanding feature is the hatred and persecution of the unbelieving world that naturally follows all those who are true to Christ and His doctrine and that the gospel will go forth and save all those chosen in Him among all nations. Exactly what all of the New Testament writers take for granted as an ongoing fact for all Gods people. Without Revelation 20:1-4 you find not a single reference to any literal millenium or future age of Kingdom and gospel glory that will dominate the world for a long period of time. The immediacy of the second coming in light of the trials and tribulations that the ecclesia will face until the Jesus the Lamb of God is revealed. 2 Thessalonians 1:8 Hence the final statements that end the book of Revelation. Even so come Lord Jesus. Christ in us the hope of glory. Very simple! Easy to see and understand. It is a lack of the Spirits working in men and interpreters of the word of God is where the problem lies. As Jesus was a stumbling stone to the earthly minded Jews so too eschatological is the stumbling stone for many professed believers. Pray for the Holy Spirits leading and mortify the lust of the flesh and an inordinate attachment to this world and the plain meaning and interpretation of the word of God on this subject will be shown to you. Only the Amillenialist position follows the rules of hermeneutics and exegesis accurately and therefore finds consistency and coherence with all things eschatological! One rule is we do not take a single passage of scripture and use it as the measure of how we are to understand the numerous passages that speak to the gospel dispensation and the second coming of Christ on the last day. On the contrary we interpret the one passage such as Revelation 20:1-4 in the light of the many that make no reference to any kind literal or spiritual millenium. The accumulated weigt of the testimony on scripture leads us to plainly see that Revelation 20 is not to be understood as something other than symbolic which is exactly consistent with the entire book of Revelation where symbolism is unmistakable. Only the amill is able to establish consistently and coherently the literal interpretation vs the symbolic interpretation. Plus the right and proper understanding and use of imagery,metaphor, and hyperbole in scripture. Especially as it relates to the Old Covenant scriptures and the prospective of the grand advent of the New Covenant. God has ordained controversy, false doctrine and heresy to be part of the churches natural and expected battlefield. So here we are. Remember good and godly men are just as prone to fall into the same ditch of error and misunderstanding as unbelievers when it comes to the scriptures. The greatest concern for all of us is the recognition of the deceitfulness of sin in our hearts and again an unholy attachment to this world. That is why John says love not the world.... if loving the world was not a real issue for Gods saved people John would not warn and admonish against it. The same for James. 4:4.

Adopting an endtimes "view" because you like it and the person teaching, or certain passages make sense, is not a sufficient knowledge for understanding. There's one eschatology that the Bible teaches. Learn the whole counsel of God before presuming you've figured out any part of God's plan. And don't label your identity by anything other than Christ, 1Cor 1:10-13.

Brilliant brilliant underrated man Dr Riddlebarger I only wish Christ Reformed was not a “frozen chosen” 🥶 ⛪️ I’ve been there and many others and good luck getting an elder or anyone saying even good morning to you or giving you a warm joyous greeting One can go there for literally years and NO ONE speaks to you Is it because we new Christians are not worthy? The piano girl never smiles or says hi and the rest just asks if this is your first time even after yrs of attendance 😂 Great doctrine though I loved that part if this church and many people have addressed this issue before transferring membership to another church They know it but do nothing 😢 I wonder what a letter to this church would say? Other than that I miss Dr Kim’s teachings he’s awesome 🤩

I’m not sure what my view is called but I think it harmonizes every single Eschatological point of contention. 1.) After Jesus died on the cross, he went and proclaimed the gospel to those who had died previously (as Peter tells us). 2.) After his resurrection, Matthew tells us that many of the saints of old were resurrected and appeared to many in Jerusalem. I think this corresponds to Revelation 20’s “first resurrection” group. And perhaps are the ones Jesus preached to while in the grave who came to faith from point #1. Currently Jesus is reigning in heaven with those saints. 3.) During the period of time between the Ascension of Jesus and the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans (about 40 years), there was war in Heaven and Satan was defeated and bound for 1000 years. 4.) Thus the millennium began around AD 70 and we are currently living in it. (On this view the 1000 years means a long period of time, non-literal). 5.) After the millennium is over, Satan will be released for a little while for one final showdown. There will be a great rebellion and tribulation. 6.) Jesus returns to earth with his angels and gathers the elect and destroys Satan. Everyone who wasn’t resurrected in point #2 will be raised here, the elect to eternal life and the wicked to eternal destruction (lake of fire). 7.) The New Heavens and Earth are created and we all live together with Jesus, the angels, and the rest of the Saints and the Son hands the Kingdom back over to the Father.

How do you deal with Isaiah ch 65 when it says that people still die in the New Heavens and New Earth? It seems this passage directly contradicts with your view.
@gregmahler9506
@gregmahler9506 11 месяцев назад
@@kevinbush7826 - Isaiah and John in revelation give us two apparently conflicting views on the new heavens and new earth. It’s my view that there was a progressive revelation on this and John’s version is the fully-realized version whereas Isaiah’s is the less-realized version. One is in light of all the Christ did and one is without much knowledge about all that he would do in Christ. We see a similar methodology in the Messiah that depicts him as ruling with an iron scepter and destroying kings, and we know that this was not literal since we now know the way that played out. An example: “The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.” Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; In holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew. The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath. He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country. He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭110‬:‭1‬-‭7‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬ Most of the Jews saw the messiah as a conquering king who would physically rule on earth and instead he was a king who died and rules from heaven. The new heavens and new earth is a similar thing except we have John’s new commentary in it from the Holy Spirit, fully revealing it.

Point 1.) Jesus never proclaimed the gospel to the dead. He heralded the truth of him conquering death at the cross. (and] preached ἐκήρυξεν (ekēryxen) Verb - Aorist Indicative Active - 3rd Person Singular Strong's 2784: To proclaim, herald, preach. Of uncertain affinity; to herald, especially divine truth) those people he heralded to we’re waiting for that true because the were saved but couldn’t enter heaven until Christ was raised from the dead.

@@anthonyg5055 - “For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬ Seems clear to me here. Compare also with 1 Peter 3:18-20 as well. Also Jesus: “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.” ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Point 2.) all those that rose from the dead in Matthew were those were waiting for Christ to conquer death. All of those who are predestine to hell are still there waiting for the final judgment.

If u dont read the words in the bible for what they say u get all the bad eschatology u have today. The words in Rev 1:1, 3, shortly take place, time is near, along with 22:6 shortly take place, 7 coming quickly, 10 time is near, 12 coming quickly, 20 coming quickly. All these words refer to things happening in 1st century, time is near. Mt 23 &24, Mk 13, Lk 21 all speak of Gods jusgmt on that old Jewish age aeon, and the judgmt of God, same language used in Isa 13 etc. Postmil is optimistic, Christ will conqueor all the nations as they r evangelized. Premil n amil r pessimistic Christ loses in this church age. There is no Antichrist figure but many of that devilish spirit, theuout ages. Much of church is in a fearful atate because of bad eschatologys pessimism, rather than being optimistic and seeing Christ as a conquering Savior in church age. Rev is the details of his judgmt on that 1st century. That proper exegesis gives us hope for the future, as Psa 22:27-31 says. Many passages like this in Psa 2, 22, 46, 110, and Isa 2, 9:6, n 42. Study these things. Nero was man of lawlessness, a very wic ked man. Many many postmil leaders from past such as many puritans, John Owens, Rutherford, Mat Henry, Jon Edwards, BB Warfild, Doug Wilson, James White, Jeff Durbin, and a host of others.

The issue I see is that we know parts of Revelation have not taken place yet. So the “shortly”, “quickly”, “about to take place” are either: 1.) limited to certain parts of the book 2.) failed to take place. 3.) took place already. Neither of the options are “pretty” with one option being that it’s a failed prophecy altogether since it didn’t take place. Rejecting that one we are left with either option 1 or 3. 3 seems to be obviously wrong since we know chapter 21-22 have not taken place yet.

Keep in mind that the first four verses of chapter one explain everything. This is a Revelation, a revealing of truth in signs or symbols (made more prominent in the Greek) from Jesus, given directly to John, who in turn is commanded to deliver this message to seven churches in Asia, existing in the first century, of events that will immediately begin, shortly after delivery. If any interpretation is not filtered for relevance through one of those seven churches in the first century, then you can be certain that your interpretation is not correct. You can be certain that the biggest bulk of the book has nothing in it concerning events happening 20 centuries later.
