Do you know the story behind her awesome talent? She has always been singing, but when she was 20 years old and newly married she got cancer in her stomach and had to go through several operation. Because of this, she can never have children. But being member of the church she got people praying for her, and she survived the cancer. Because of this she sees her life a gift from God, and she wanted to dedicate her life and singing to Him. She said she wants her singing to comfort people who are in pain, telling them “I see you- I’ve been there”. She has since then almost exclusively been singing at churches at home and abroad, at charity events, or events to honor other artist - meaningful events, and avoided taking part in the big music industry. She has been contacted many times by international managers who could help her getting famous here in the West (she is famous in Asia, despite her limited performances), but she has always refused. Now she is about 40 years old (she looks so much younger!) and the last few years she has been participating in South Korean music contests on TV. When she first started singing on these TV shows she was very conflicted if this was the right thing to do. But then she saw a woman in the audience crying while she was singing, and she realised that her calling was to reach out to everyone who is hurting, not just people in church. ❤️ She not only has an outstanding talent and the most beautiful voice, her singing touches people in a way that is hard to explain, a gift from above.

Great to see you back! This song was originally out in 1979 by a Christian singer Yun, Bok Hee. It is a true gospel and all the lyrics even the English part was not altered. The melody on English part was rewrote to make it more American gospel vibe. Sohyang openly expressed that she devoted her singing career to convey the voice of God and to comfort people. This seven minutes of masterpiece is the perfect example of her thoughts.

This was written by the older brother who was a song writer of the original singer (Yun Bok Hee) which is a gift to his younger sister to help cheer up because she was having a hard time during that time. He is telling her that he is her eternal sibling, friend, song, and happiness. The part she talkes towards the end of the song is saying "Who is going to comfort me when she is down and said, all of you". It's very touching song and you can feel the love from her brother. They lost their parents during Korean war and her older brother has been looking after her and both went through such a hardship throughout their lives. Yun Bok Hee is an amazing singer as well and still sings great!

May I give you a small tip! It is related about name of artist in Korea. In Korea, some artists use nick names and it means they want to be called that names. Surely we call them. So as an artist, " Sohyang" is more appropriate name as an artist than "Kim sohyang" which is a natural person.
