My Springfield loaded 1911 was jamming mostly stovepipe...with 230 ball ! I did this procedure and now she cycles flawlessly! Thanks 👍

My Springfield 1911 barrel doesn't have the feed ramp attached. It's on the frame. Then there's a sharp edge and a step to the barrel. From the end of the feed ramp to the opening of the chamber the bullet has nothing guiding it, or keeping the nose from side to side movement. I'm not sure how to polish that correctly.

You know what that will be a good video to demonstrate the best way of doing that style 1911. let me see what i can work up. stay tuned.

@@TheHobbyGunsmith Heck yeah! I loaded up some Berry's round shoulder flat nose 200 g and the flat part hits below where the ramp starts, and then after I fiddle with the slide it goes up to the slide and catches on the bottom of the barrel. Even FMJ 230s sometimes get stuck at the base of the ramp, then if the case isn't crimped well enough the edge of the case catches on the bottom of the barrel. I think the mags need work, as well, but there's also issues to be resolved in the gun itself.

Kimber's built by Master gun builders the only difference is they do a little bit of commercial stuff putting them together but all that stuff with all those slides are hand fitted just like the add Brown and Wilson Combat

Kimber as the best designs to their barrels the only thing I would ever do to that was I get a little rubbing compound and polish it like I did my my whole Barrel so everything is smooth and Slick what that guys doing doesn't look right that car that gun was engineered by some of the finest gun designers that did that already why would you have to go and do that again

Matthew, i agree kimber makes great designs, but notice the barrels on higher end models, they are chamfered and rounded for a wider mouth, it is a common practice on 1911 for better feeding reliability, this process was never performed on this model by the factory to keep the price of manufacturing down. hence why kimber and every other manufacturer has different models and quality upgraded specs between models.

You are removing material!

This is the never ending story, Research friend the compound is so fine and you are only polishing the service the material being removed is so little its not even noticeable when measured.

The only problem that I ever had with my Kimber where the clips right out of the box when they come with the cheapest clip those blue steel or blue or whatever they are they do not feed the gun proper I put brand new Wilson Combat clips and I had some older Chip McCormick clips that work for nominal somebody gave me to stainless steel clips that was made by Kimber that work very well but the original clips that come in those guns are junk I don't believe that anybody should use those they should be thrown right into the trash

clips where used on the M1 Garands, Magazines are used on pistols. but yes the factory magazines are not very good, as they need to be adjusted depending on the ammunition used for proper feeding.
