Hello to all my viewers and subscribers! Thanks again for watching.
Sorry that this is a long video, but I put an in-depth review of not only the Kimber K6S 2" 357 Magnum 6 shot revolver, but also the speedloaders, their pouches, and both a Galco and DeSantis IWB appendix draw holsters and range time with both target and hollow point self defense rounds. It kicks, but it's a great gun and with the addition of a Crimson Trace grip that will help accuracy. I don't regret adding this gun to my collection and it's nice when I want a light weight alternative to my Sig P365XL that I usually carry.

HKS #10 speedloader works for the K6S. Crimson Trace also makes a full sized grip without the laser that has an enclosed backstrap. I think they make it with the laser as well, got it through Kimber.

Just an FYI, if you don’t want to buy the Kimber speed loaders, 5star firearms makes them. They’re the D6 and they’re $20 a piece and come in all kinds of anodized colors including bare aluminum like what you’re showing. I’ve also been told that holsters for the ruger SP101 and colt D frames are supposed to fit the K6s. I think this opens up more options. I’ve been eyeing the 4” DASA combat for myself and I’ve been doing some research into what accessories work.

Thanks for watching and for the info. Yes, I commented that I ordered the speed loaders from 5Star in red on my "final thoughts" video--except the wait time is 4-6 weeks and the Kimber speed loaders were in stock (although yes, more expensive). I also commented on the DeSantis holster that I liked over the Galco.

Even 38+p was not pleasant. Wadcutters, low grain is the way to go
@wbwills2
@wbwills2 27 дней назад
Y. Wad cutters are a good thing in revolvers. If you ever need to use a gun for self defense ,a very high % of the time,1-2 shots is going to make anybody that was just having a moment of rage,thinking about $ or drugs or whatever it WAS,is going to totally forget that thought.getting hit hard with a BB hurts like hell,+ add the sight of starring down a barrel of a gun & the loud noise .That’s a lot. And gel isn’t the same as skin & bone but if you watch a video of wad cutters shot into gel here on YT ,it will show you it’s capable of being more than just a punch a clean round hole in a paper target round. Whatever you need to do to put a shot on target before another person with a gun puts one on you is very important. I would absolutely hate to have to shoot another human being but I know what I can & can’t do & when & when not to do it. I’ve seen plenty of people who shoot & train a ton more than I do on YT. They get free bullets. Watch them closely when the occasional malfunction happens.Some,not all,have a pretty horrible recoil anticipation flinch.Even the “best”of them .& standing squared off at paper with a perfect grip is nice for figuring out sights and getting good groups & all. But watch real shootings on here. There are so many cameras these days ,so there plenty to watch ..unfortunately .things happen fast and more than likely not like a scenario we picture happening. Point is,you need to carry a gun that is convenient and comfortable or you just won’t ,and one that shooting it is as natural feeling to you as can be .I’ve watched this mans video at least 5-6 times now, I still don’t own one of these guns yet but I started with a revolver when I was young, and have gone through different phases with handguns I guess you can say. I reluctantly decided to get into polymer striker guns for practical reasons and I think a lot of it was marking got me. Started with a Glock 33 . I might appreciate that gun today way more than when I got it. Shy away from glocks & 357sig to this day. I’ve finally found IWB holster /upgraded clip that im confident enough to carry a striker fired gun up front. a couple actual gun belts that are good or maybe even better than a good quality leather belt ,& a 9mm thats I iv shot & carried nearly exclusively for a year and change now. I’ve got to get one & spend some time with it but I think this gun is going to be the one I carry more often. I hadn’t held one of these when I first saw this video. He said repeatedly that the speed loaders were j frame size ect. & I can read specs and all.Im rambling at this point.let me get the k6 & I’ll be back. I’m coming around full circle with a ss revolver im thinking.The DAO is going to make it simpler in a couple ways. Take care and go have some fun and do some one handed point shooting with some of those wad cutters. I’ve never shot gel but have captured some bullets in water jugs before. Altered some WCs slighty before without removing any or too much weight. Wanted to get a hydro shock red dot visual. Drilled a little divot & painted it.them experimented with a tiny drill bit & more holes,cut some with Knife. Interesting how they did in the jug. Gel would be better.a lot of jug collecting is gone in a flash. Or 2. Got to be some body on here doing something along those lines. Take care.

I had a holster similar to the DeSantis design. The problem I had was that "infinite options" on the angle resulted in "constant rotation" whether I wanted it or not. Do you have a solution for that problem? One comment re: this model v. the K6XS - For those of us that are older, combining the extra 7 oz of the K6S over the K6XS with .38Spec +P ammo gives us greater control. Just my 2 cents.

If you're gonna fire 357 Magnum rounds out of that Kimber, I would recommend the Hogue grips for it which cover up that backstrap. It helps with the recoil and gives you an overall better grip. The factory grips are kinda small.

Thanks for watching and your question! No they are sold separately. The speed loader is about $40 and the pouch about $48. Here's the link to the Kimber site: store.kimberamerica.com/revolver/accessories You may be able to find them somewhere else for less. I do use them exclusively since they hold the speedloader so close to your body that they don't imprint and the design makes it so easy to grab the top of the speedloader. I absolutely love the combo since the Kimber speedloader has a nice long stem that makes them easy for me (with huge meat-hook hands) to manipulate under a stressful situation like a quick reload.

That’s a heirloom quality gun. I don’t have one yet but getting one soon. I carry a S&W 66-2,2.5”.was a gift from my younger brother years ago. He got it used.3rd had at least. Dk if it’s had trigger work or springs or just broken in good,but the trigger is killer. The original grips felt great but were rubber & getting black mess everywhere from solvents ect. Put some smooth 320VZs on it. They are nice/don’t hang up on clothing but found out after getting them they are made to fit newer mim guns. You either do some hand fitting or deal with the gap on front of the grip + gotta do some cutting/sanding for speed loaders.pretty stout restocking fees so I kept them. Ever need to know anything about grips/fit…Altamonte has the info..Anyhow,6S.. thanks for accessories information.nice stuff & I might get it all .Holster, I got a Garrett Industries STX OWB (not 2.0) for my K frame .wasn’t on the website at the time but I called & the holster maker’s wife told me about that holster . I asked & they rounded the muzzle end a little for me .Mid ride,straight drop with straps & snaps. That set up disappears for me under a t shirt or whatever else untucked. A slick ,snag free package.A 7ish degree cant would probably be even better(available for $11 just haven’t gotten around to it yet. It’s a top shelf kydex holster line with Herman Oak leather. There are different qualities of kydex. I had no idea.Retention changed after the leather compressed after I wore it for about a year. Needs to be heated up and adjusted around the site channel area and maybe some more definition around the front of the trigger guard.. I plan on trying IWB but really like the fast on/off OWB. R.Grizzle leather in GA.has a Holster called the GS2.check them out. I like leaving the backstrap exposed . Don’t like covering up any beautiful machining on these stainless steel beauties. Have A Crimson trace on a j frame Air weight. Might go that route. Might even go 3 inch.?. Got to find them in a store and get them in hand first. Will go from there. I agree $900 is reasonable for this gun. Generally keep a flat speed strip in my back pocket. 6,8 rds. But with those cool half behind the belt speed loaders, going to give it a try. The rounded organic lines of revolvers blend in better than a pistol in my experience. Thanks for sharing. Take it easy and happy new year

@@docgsreloading7985 You’re welcome for the support but thank you for sharing. I don’t have the Kimber yet. It’s a 2.5 “K frame that’s in the Kydex lined with Harmon Oak leather. I don’t have a scale or a set of calipers but it is a chunk of steel . Same six shots, but it will definitely not fit in a J frame holster. The weight is about 13 ounces more. And talk about sweat and maintenance. The rear sites need a little touch up now and then with a toothbrush and Oil. Those speed loaders on your left side are a little bit of a lump. At the most. A strong side owb like they R grizzle GS2 on the right side seems to me like it would be symmetrical , just another rounded organic looking lump ,IF ,someone were to be paying attention. Which most people do not. you like leather. I do too. A lot of people like IWB. I might one day. But 0WB in the right holster with a revolver is pretty hard to beat for comfort. Just saying. The GS2 holster or similar pulls it in tight . Quick on and quick off too. Just take a look and humor me. Options are a good thing. I have the 365 XL too. I haven’t found a Holster that I like for it yet. I’d like to give it a try IWB if you have any recommendations. The K6S is the focus of this video. And you’re right about the 3 inch. Every little bit counts. The 2 inch and the boot laser grip rubber and Wood seem like a really good choice to me. The sites are fine. I Camp a lot. I might just put a front nightsight on mine when I get it. Like to be able to see the glow in the dark on the nightstand or in a tent. And those lasers are bright enough to use to check something out in the night . It’s a fine revolver anyway you look at it. really like that it has recessed cylinder. Like everything about it.Thanks for getting back to me.

@@docgsreloading7985 thanks for that link. I hope to find something that works for me for the sig that’s IWB.i’ll check out that XL holster video now. I’ve taken some weight off recently ,so I’ve got the extra space needed & that gun is slim. Not to mention shoots very nicely. It continues to impress me. From the first shots out of the box. I’ve got a Holster for it that I ordered that most likely got rushed with all the new gun owners and record sales. The design has potential but it was obviously put together hastily and the piece ofkydex was either too small to begin with, or was trimmed back too much. Or something.The gun rocks out of the holster & there’s no snap when it grabs that trigger guard. Not enough definition. It was a budget Holster. (Summer was coming up, I wanted to try out a ulti clip to clip on nylon board short swim trunks & it had that option .$11 clip on a $23 holster. It would work if made properly. Outbags calamity. There’s two called calamity. If you check them out I got the one with kydex body and leather comfort tab I think they called it. Would’ve preferred the other one that was more of a hybrid, maybe.?. Like I said it has potential to do what I wanted it to do, it’s been a long time. I got in touch with them and they said they would make it right. Gave me a cell phone number to send some pictures to if I recall. I got busy with something else. I don’t think they have proper blue guns. Or somethings wrong. However they made it, a faint imprint of a Picatinny rail is visible in the kydex . Enough XL. I’ll get it figured out. I’ve got to have a nice safe Holster I’m comfortable with with that pistol. I don’t like ,or particularly train with manual safeties . Spent a lot more time with revolvers, getting back into pistols more lately but like a double action first pull. Andstriker fired in general is something I am still getting used to. It’s a thing apparently. I’ve been in some adrenaline filled moments and things start happening and I’ve got to get it together and do some block breathing or whatever it takes.Sometimes something extremely stressful happens and I’m the one that’s steady a rock & calm. Thinking clearly and seeing the whole picture for what it is.I live a boring life for the most part I’m not out around trouble. But It can find you & there’s another thing. Animals. They are around where I live. Won’t get into all of that right now either.terrible about going off on tangents. K6…. little brother and his wife Live in Charleston South Carolina. They stay busy and love working. They decided early on that they were not going to have children. I guess that’s what you do if you don’t have little ones to look after. Anyhow, every year mid January we go down there. The whole family comes from all directions and we get together and have a big party for a few days. There’s a Palmetto State Armory and other nice gun shops all over the place. We are always having a good time and I haven’t taking a couple hours to go to one of their locations. I’m going this time. I’ve got a few things they probably have in stock that I want to fondle. I haven’t checked online to see about theKimber though . Unfortunately, up where I live, crystal meth is huge. It's better to have it with you and never need it then to not have it just that one time when you needed it. Palmetto makes great guns! Very solid. Make time to go check out those resources in SC when you're there. 3rd view I think. The grips are nice. All of it is nice! First things first. Got to get one. I am not against buying a used gun . But brand new might be the best way to go. I have seen one for 600 bucks A while back that appeared to be like new condition with a couple cylinders shot through it. Did you consider a 3” or just wanted a snubie.?. They are hard to beat. That is the revolver to have. .k frame packed into a J frame. I saw a video( short ) that a fellow made in November.Camara was up close to a high polished 2 inch & a blued 2”. I wish I could send it to you or find it. I’ll try again later. I like the gun you have and all the accessories just like they are. You have a good taste. But… I would like to at least take a look at the new blue version before buying. It’s not on their website. They have a special Addition Texas one and maybe some engraved ones.?. SS is in that video short, the blued gun was a different blue. Not the DLC kimbers done before or anything like that. It looked different than any blue I’ve seen before on any gun. Lighting or my eyes maybe were playing tricks on me. Plain stainless is The way to go. Practical and looks good. Easy to care for. If you’re interested take a look at those OWBs. I mentioned. Earlier today. And let me know what do you think about a 3 inch with those grips you have there. Just wondering if you have held one or what do you think about it. I have no plans to mess with the springs.
@docgsreloading7985
@docgsreloading7985 Год назад
Thanks Mary! No, I haven't seen the blued version, but SS is so much easier to take care of, so for me, stainless steel is the way to go--especially since I carry exclusively appendix (IWB) and the gun always gets sweaty. I didn't want the 3" because it's just another 1" that sticks into my pants/groin--and that makes it just that more uncomfortable to carry. I'll have to check out those grips you mentioned--so far that Crimson Trace wood grip I have has been great at the range.

I do not understand why the Crimson Tracer laser grip has the rubber on the front of the grip instead of the back where it would actually help protect your hand against the recoil. Firing my K6S 2in barrel with the stock grip with .357 is brutal on my hand, but 38 special and +p feels fine. I want the laser grip, but it won't let me use .357 any better than the stock grip because neither have any grip cushion on the back. Besides, the main benefit of a laser is that it is easier to acquire the target and to reacquire the target during follow up shots, especially in low light scenarios. I'll have to think about it because at this point the only reason I would not want the Crimson Trace grip is because it would not help with .357 use, but I guess I could be okay with only 38sp and +p.

@docgsreloading7985 Год назад
Hey Jacob, thanks for watching! Yeah, I've hit a steel torso consistently at that distance as well with this gun, actually mine were closer to 70 yards, but I hate to say, that's meaningless. Being a USPSA shooter, I made the mistake early on in my shooting career of practicing with steel torsos, and then found that just because it 'rings', doesn't mean it's accurate. I now always shoot cardboard so I can see exactly where my hits are. My point in the video was just that I wouldn't use this gun beyond the usual 7 yards where most self defense encounters occur, since follow up shots are significantly more difficult. If you're taking a self-defense shot out to 60 yards, you'd have some explaining to do to law enforcement. I know that Mr. Dicken the hero at the Indiana mall shot at 40 yards, but that's a shot you'll almost never have to take in your lifetime. Plus, in that situation, I would take that shot with my Kimber K6S. I appreciate your input.

Thanks for watching! Well, for me, I like the lighter weight of a revolver (especially my S&W J-frame 5 shot in 38 SPL) so on a hot summer day, it doesn't weigh me down like a semi-auto can. Also, I like revolvers and by carrying one at times, it forces me to keep all of my revolver skills sharp; so I'll go out to the range and practice appendix draw and the completely different movements when reloading with a speed loader. Like all of shooting, any skills will wither and perish if not continually cultivated.

Thanks for watching! I don't know how 'hot' of a round you want to shoot through the gun. I shot some wicked self-defense rounds through it, and had no issues whatsoever. Although, I would never carry rounds with that much recoil--you can't get back on target quickly at all. Also, remember that the lawyers say to not reload your own self defense ammo, just use factory self defense ammo for carry.
