Yesterday I went down to my local shop to buy a 642, was already to say I’ll take it and then picked up the Kimber. Real sights, feels better in the hand and that double action trigger is the best I’ve ever seen, kind of an impulse buy but I think it’s a far superior gun to the 642 but quite a bit heavier and I think it’s worth it bonus for 357 and bonus for six rounds. It’s a more direct comparison to the Ruger SP 101, But the k6s is a hare lighter Six rows versus five rounds and that double action trigger is impossible to beat at the moment

This helped me decide on buying the 2" and I also bought the 4" target

23 ounces is not heavy! A 48 ounce 1911 45 ACP is heavy! That six shot could be the difference! I am sold on this revolver!

Just picked up my first Kimber K6S (CT) with the CT Laser grips and so far I have been very impressed with the quality and performance of this revolver. I have mainly used S&W 640 Series Stainless 357 revolvers and decided I wanted to try out a Kimber, so I traded one of my S&W 640's and some cash for the K6S and I am very happy with the trade. I use a Horseshide pocket holster and I wear shorts the majority of the time here in Florida and being I am used to the weight of my 640, the K6S feels the same. Its a little snappy when shooting 357 Mag loads, but thats to be expected and it shoots 38+P as good as my 640 does and I find myself carrying this now more then my S&W revolvers, very well made and quality product from Kimber and well worth the trade.

I have this exact same revolver. Shot dead on at the range but the cylinder was not revolving. I fed it one bullet at a time, 5 times- to make sure it was a definite problem. Very accurate nonetheless. The firing pin spring.....messed up. Kimber changed the pin and spring and got it back to me in 1 1/2 weeks. I slapped some Altamont rosewood (to match Orig look) grips w the same Diamond pattern for a better purchase when holding it. Have yet to shoot it again. Can’t wait! Also the lettering on the front sight (MH3) is blacked out compared to yours. Great review, amazing gun and I agree w everything! Cheers

I'm not even seeing this model on their website anymore. Beautiful piece. I'm probably gonna grab the dasa and mod it a bit. A little weight on a snubby is a good thing in my opinion. Not gonna sting you as much with hotter loads 👍

I have the hammer version and it kicks like a buck! Love everything about it personally. Light to carry, plenty of power and does very well at 15-25 yds at a gong or eze see targets. Running Underwood JHP 158 grain ammo and it runs clean. Have a Craft holster and a Galco combat master which are both equally unnoticeable and comfortable. I have the Bodyguard too and cant wait to sell it...hate it!

Yea it’s a bit weighty, but shooting those tiny Airlites and the like are a pain and not nearly as good as having the next frame size up. Just got the 3 inch barrel version and EDC and I love this revolver. I have been pleasantly surprised for it. Highly recommend.

The kimber control core grips are great for getting your pinky a place on the grip. Also they are rubber and cover the backstrap. Definitely don’t look as good as the grips you have on that cdp but way more comfortable

Love my K6S, picked it up when I was looking at less expensive revolvers. The guy in the shop recommended I give it a once over and I fell in love with it. I got a good IWB holster paired with the Alias mounting system. Its noticeable but not uncomfortable, it has a reassuring heft to it and it conceals fantastically. I just wanted a DA revolver with the absolute minimum controls. I can carry without worry about racking any slide, no safety, no BS. It's also fairly accurate out to 50 yards. I feel comfortable with mine, it gives me a little peace of mind when I am out and about.

Great video, (subscribed). I really like the comment about the non existent safety feature but how safe revolvers are. I was wondering but now I understand. Thanks

Yeah it’s the long deliberate double action only trigger pull, no external hammer, they’re completely drop safe, no saftey is needed you are not gonna pull the trigger that hard and far to get a “accidentally discharge”. 👍🏻

Interesting video. Thanks for posting. You have peaked my interest about the K6S. I carry a 2.25" DAO SP101 as my primary revolver so I am used to the heavy snubbies. I will check it out.

How is this to pocket carry long term? I’ve got a Glock 43 that I pocket carry, but I love revolvers. I also love the stopping power options from this revolver.

I love the K6, but I would never carry mine in a sticky holster. The retention isn't there for the weight of this gun. All it takes is for me to fall down and now my gun becomes 'our gun.'

Even kimber go into the revolver game , I was hoping maybe one day glock would also make their own lightweight revolvers but I’m not holding my breath.

I believe The rule of thumb for the average of most civilian vs criminal shootings is the “rule of 3” …3 shots, 3 yards and over in 3 seconds. Ofcourse it’s just a average overall. 👌

A couple years since this review, have you experienced any problems with this model? I was considering purchasing one but can not even find it on Kimber's website. Makes me think maybe they were defective for some?

Still amazing. You can still get it, they just have a different assortment of finishes and grips.

I've been carrying a s&w model 640 for 12 years. The trigger is superb like in came out of the box. It's easy to stage. It's weighs 21 oz and with the stock rubber grips it takes the bite out of 357s. So the question for me would it be worth the cost for one more round in the Kimber ?
@TheConcealedCarryChannel
@TheConcealedCarryChannel 2 года назад
All good points. I love my smaller revolvers and regularly carry a 5-shot 642 S&W with confidence. The main reason I like the Kimber is it handles the energy of the .357 round better than my small revolvers. The trade-off is weight. (And price.) Thanks for watching!

@The Concealed Carry Channel that's not even a thing if you run underwood 158 grain 38 special +p kieth loads. 1050 fps and 500 fpe out of my 1.8inch 442 airweight. That's 357 mag right there.

I may still end up bitting the bullet and paying the cost of admission on this one. Questions: 1. What kind of speedloaders work with this gun? 2. Can the grips be changed? Can it be made longer/slimmer/etc.? 3. How's the after-market support looking for this gun?
@TheConcealedCarryChannel
@TheConcealedCarryChannel 4 года назад
Hello there! I found several after market speed loaders between $7.99 and $25.00 each. The Kimber Branded ones are $44.00 each (no surprise). I have found lots of grip options, Hogue has an amazing assortment: www.hogueinc.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=kimber+k6s I now have a set of G10s on the way for mine! After-market support is looking good. With the introduction of the DA/SA exposed hammer models and longer barrel options, Kimber appears to making a real long-term commitment and those that manufacture accessories seem to be getting on board. Cheers!

That gun is not heavy compared to a Colt 357 Smith and Wesson. You need more weight for anything more than 9mm.

I carry for 25 years a S&W k frame and I only stop carrying this gun because I now dedicate myself to collecting S&W revolvers and the model I carry is really expensive nowadays, but now I carry my Ruger Sp101 and anyone who knows anything about guns knows that the Sp101 isn't light! But I'm a big person so to me is ok the weight!
