I am excited to make this quilt!!! Thank you for doing this. Great details-so helpful. You are the reason I am doing this project. You do an awesome job of connecting with your group. Take care🥰
I am just now beginning Cup of Cheer. You mentioned putting a photo of the fabric cutting page on your Facebook page, but I cannot find it there. Is there another place to look?
Hi Theresa, if you go to Cristin Creates Facebook group, then type #cupofcheer in the search bar, all the posts for Cup Of Cheer come up that way and when I did it just now, the very first post shown has all the pictures of the cutting guides and information. I hope this helps.
You had some smaller squares on top of your 10” squares (like the grey polka dot material). That didn’t come with mine kit. It only had 42-10” squares. Please advise
I'll be a bit behind... MGQS was out of stock on the fabric kits, so I ordered it locally. Unfortunately, it's going to be another couple of weeks before I get the fabric. That's not an issue! I'm sure I'll learn a LOT from watching your videos until I have all my supplies. Thanks for sharing the suggestion about cutting the filler blocks a little larger! I'll be using the Quilt-in-the-Block method, so the filler blocks might be a challenge.
Don't worry Susan, we will go over the filler blocks in detail and we will be quilting them in the hoop just like our other blocks. It's all good. I heard our sponsor is out of the fabric kits, sorry about that. I'm glad you were able to find another source. We will go at a comfortable pace and you'll catch up quick. No worries! Also if you're in the Cristin Creates group on Facebook, please notice the changes I made regarding the filler block sizes. There's a few we will not cut larger because they need to be sewn together before we quilt them.
@@katieemmart6566 sorry for the delay in responding. I was super busy with trying to get the Mug Rugs tutorials done so we could start Cup Of Cheer :) I just finished editing the COC videos tonight and they are posted now. So we start tonight/tomorrow :) Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xxs_x8b6AGw.html and if you subscribe, you should receive notification when new videos are posted. Glad to have you join in the fun Katie!
I have two questions before I begin cutting… First, do I have to prewash the red fabrics before cutting to prevent color bleeding? I’ve heard that some people do prewash, but is it really necessary?? Second, what embroidery needle is needed to complete the quilt? 75/11 only? Does the Ballpoint or Sharp needle point work best? Thank you!
Hi Cyndi, It's completely up to you if you choose to pre-wash or not. If you think you'll wash your quilt, then yes, color bleed is a concern. I'm not washing my quilt as it will just hang on my wall as a decorative quilt. Here is a link to the needles that I swear by and I use them for EVERYTHING: www.etsy.com/DayLilyFabricShop/listing/1076114004/organ-needles-15x1-7511-flat-shank-pd?.lmsm&share_time=1632434297922&campaign_label=convo_notifications&email_sent=1632434319&euid=StY62k4924iLblUA0st2DjhbNNav&eaid=4002312009&x_eaid=7828ae8150 the shop is on vacation this week, but should have them when they return next week. They are 75/11PD (perfect durability). 130/705H 15x1 HA x 1 by Organ. I've tried tons of other needles, but these are the charm for me.
I don't, but I know several do, so you could give it a try and see if that works for you. I haven't tried it or felt a need for it with the fusible backing and the project batting.
Thank you so much for letting me know MH! Here is a link to the rotating cutting mat that I have: amzn.to/3Qd4KjP and I've updated it in the video description. Thanks again for letting me know!
Hi Charlotte, I haven't posted the notes I've written for myself that I wrote into my book, but if you go to our Cristin Creates group on Facebook and type in the search bar "cupofcheer you can see all the notes about prepping your fabric and cut sizes and batting and embellishments and everything you need. I hope this helps.
@@charlottecox7911 not sure what you mean. " if you go to our Cristin Creates group on Facebook and type in the search bar "cupofcheer you can see all the notes about prepping your fabric and cut sizes and batting and embellishments and everything you need. I hope this helps."
We will use each of the fabrics, but in most cases, we will have extra of many of the fabrics. If you look at the cut guide, you can get an idea of what extra there will be. I think that was on page 8, but I'm not near the book at the moment. I do show it in the video though. That's why I mention that you can choose to do the fusible backing on the whole fabric or just the part you need now.
No Gma B, you should be fine. We did a live class on Friday in the Facebook group, but that was for Mug rugs. Everything for Cup Of Cheer will likely be posted on RU-vid. There are definitely some negatives to Facebook, but our Cristin Creates group is awesomeness and we have a good time.
