Kimberbell Mini quilt March Part 1 February 4, 2024
Join Jan in creating the Kimberbell Mini Quilts, Volume 1: January-June. Each month I will guide you through the embroidery and assembly of these adorable 12" x 12" quilts. Stitch each block on your embroidery machine, add optional background quilting (sold separately) , and sew the blocks together on your sewing machine! In this video (part 1) we will discuss the fabrics, embellishments, and threads needed to create your mini quilt. Then we will quilt and embroidery the Lucky block, and the Clover block. Get ready for a year of fun with Jan and Kimberbell Mini Quilts!

I like the lighter color. I think if you used that darker green you would not see the darker shamrock.

Hi Doreen! I have an Epson Ecco Tank printer which is high yield, so I print the books myself. Then I bind them with my comb binding machine. Comb Binding machines are available online and aren't that expensive. Great investment!

Hi I have a question I downloaded the st patricks background quilting for the lucky block, but the 4 x 12 is too big for my machine, but the 4 x 10 is too small for the block. So I loaded the 4 x10 and I enlarged the 4 x 10 to the largest my machine would except. The length is 11.75 but the width I can not get it to go to 4.00. The best I can do is 4.50. If I go any smaller the length gets smaller. Do you think that should be ok? The letters are good, they are 4.00 x 11.75. What do you think?

Hi Ginger! I think I just answered a similar questions to this on another video from this series. Since you only have an 8x12 hoop, the quilting design doesn't work as it is actually 1/2 inch longer. The easiest way to work around this, is to remove the tack down lines with software. Do you have some software?

Do you put Plastic covers over the pages in your books?

Nope. I just print on both sides of the paper, print the covers on card stock, and bind with my comb binding machine

It seems like RU-vid asks you how you want your name to show up. You may have to tell them in a setting.

what if you only have a 12 x 8 hoop??

You can work around that fact by removing the tack down lines from the quilting design. Do you have any software?

@@sewalongwithjan sorry didn't see your replay. Yes But I cannot open Kimberbell designs on my software? My local quilt shop helped me. She had to take the background quilting to her software and she made a tad smaller for machine. My machine would not except the .07 length for my hoop! The largest it would all was 11.50 and kimberbell was a tad larger then my machine would except. I have a Brother Innovis vm1500

I also have PE design software but its older version from 2015, it came with my machine! I wonder if I can upgrade the software! I know they can be very pricey!!

Dime has a great software for about $100 that you can easily remove those tack down lines.
