Hello Everyone! One of my favorite things to do is sew with my friends. Since many of you are a long way from me, I thought I would start a RU-vid channel called Sew Along with Jan so we could virtually sew together every day! I will have regular sew along projects, embroidery projects and software projects.
Hi Linda! You can bring fonts in as PES files (one letter at a time), but you will not be able to type them in as you do with the built in designs. Have you looked into some basic software like Dime Tool Shed Plus?
Jan, you are so awsome, I just smile watching you work, umm, I mean play! Thank you for giving me some encouragement to play with my scan n cut more. Eileen
Jan I don’t have drop box and I can’t get the file for Binding cheat sheet that you posted. Is there anyway it can be posted just as a pdf that we can print out! Thank you in advance!
Hi Jean! You do not need DropBox to download the Bind Aid document. Just click the down arrow on the top right to download. Here is the direct link to it:www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/uq5xs44soypovroa3j81h/AAYPfeGfI5PoaysyIm3pq1Y?e=1&fbclid=IwAR33Zi73f-T7i7MIO6iOsXs9H_PzG47uTlXaqmGKsTTTpwx8s7DmaJV4StY&preview=Bind+Aid.pdf&rlkey=iiiwiq8k153tap6iraev2a5wk&dl=0
Thanks Jan. I enjoyed your sew along. A hint... I used a metal straw to do the popsicles' glitter (you can get those straws to help the environment) and stuck it in the little glitter bag for the popsicles (while it was in the little bag) and pushed the glitter into the straw and then stuck it into the top of each popsicle. I VERY gently blew the glitter out into each popsicle. Whalah! Worked for me and maybe will for someone else. Metal straw was easy to shake off as there was no static with it like a plastic straw or maybe even a paper one.😊
I finally got brave enough to pull out my snap hoop ruler. So thankful I found this video to show me how to apply the rulers. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Hi, Jan, Are you referring to the brown tape that Amazon sells that doesn’t work? If so I have used that tape for years and never had a problem. Matter fact it is widely used by RU-vidrs. I do have Cricut tape that was apart of a bundle and I haven’t used that tape. I did hear great things about the tape. I know you prefer not to shop at Amazon that’s why I’m questioning the remark about the brown tape. We all may have issues with these stores how they treat employees or their political affiliations. Just an FYI Harbor Freight is own by Amazon. Thanks, Penny
Thanks Penny! I belong to several sublimation groups and some of the members said they ran across some brownish/yellowish tapes that left marks on their projects. I'm not sure where they got the it. I'm so glad your tape works well for you! Thanks for the info
So many tips and tricks with these mini quilts and you are the BEST when it comes to instructions!!! I just found my pattern for the Kimberbell Twilight Boo-levard bench pillow that I had purchased back in 2020 and never got around to make. Thank goodness I have been watching and completing the mini quilts with you and learned so much that making the bench pillow was a breeze! And, of course, you did a video on that bench pillow which was a huge bonus for me! I was even able to do all the background quilting on the bench pillow using Halloween block by block quilting that I had purchased! Thank you again Jan for sharing your knowledge!!!
Hi Elaine! Here is the link to the free rug pattern. It is from Shabby Fabrics: www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/77/how-to-make-a-slice-rug?
I missed your part 1 of your video and would like to subscribe to it. I did subscribe to part 2. A question do you sew the open ends of the strips to together when possible? Hope you understand what I mean. Great video, thanks
I love your idea of putting the embroidered block on both ends! I can't believe I came across this video on Father's day weekend 4 years after you recorded it on Father's day!
Jan, I have a question. What size it the box that sews the batting down. I have done the blueberries, and the peaches so far. My designs didn't come with that step.
That step is in the the quilting design that is sold separately. Many of the quilting designs have two options, Clear Blue Tiles and Block by Block. Make sure you are choosing the Block by Block option. They have the batting lines in them.
Hi, Jan. At 36.09, where and how do you get the thread post picture? I have the 10-needle too with the current update. Is it a setting you have to turn on? Thanks.
@@sewalongwithjan Yes. I have the PR 1055 with all the updates. I tried to replicate your steps, and no thread post screen. Really strange. Thanks, Jan.
I tried the suggestion and it worked. Just to double-check I tried it again and no luck. It has to be user error but I’m not sure how or when. Thanks for the help!
Another super informative and helpful video. I downloaded the rotary blade guide. Same Brother web page, as you probably saw, had a list of the in-built designs. There is a rose there! I wouldn't have thought to look. One tip I saw, but haven't tried yet, is to use contact paper with messy fibers. Put it on the mat, sticky side up, and put the felt on top of it. I'll try that one of these days. I use the rotary blade to cut out pieces for my handbags. Love it. Thanks again. Kay in Dallas, Texas
How you figured this out amazes me! I'll have to watch this several times so it sinks into my brain. Lol. Thank you so much for teaching us all this. They are so cute.
