Kimchi Guksu and an Open Window.

The #recipe for this Kimchi Guksu:
1 cup chopped kimchi
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 scallions chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
1/4 cup Spicy Garlic Soy Sauce Dressing ( • How To Make Braised To... )
1 tablespoon sweetener
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon neutral oil
2 servings cooked somyeon (Korean wheat noodles)
2 tablespoons ripped up roasted seaweed
In a medium bowl, mix together kimchi, onion, scallion whites, garlic, sesame seeds, Spicy Garlic Soy Sauce Dressing, sweetener, and sesame oil. To a large sauté pan, add neutral oil. When it begins to shimmer, add contents of bowl and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes (when kimchi starts to caramelize). Remove from heat and add to bowl of cooked Korean wheat noodles. Garnish with scallion greens and shreds of roasted seaweed.

Your perspective of life and the way you allow yourself to speak openly abiut your frustrations and your negative feelings make me feel such at ease. I also am someone who gets frustrated about the doors that life has closed for me and over the years I've felt bith resentful and regretful of many desicions I've taken. Yet, despite those feelings being there, I'm able to see the windows that have been opened for me.

I was literally asking God today why my brother died of COVID and I'm still looking for that open window at times but I have to believe that good things are still in store for the family and especially for his kids. I needed this! Grief is so jarring and people who are onlookers try their best but use statements as chasms between them and your grief. I think sometimes we do this because grief terrifies us and we don’t want to sit in grief. My hope is that more people sit with those who are grieving and can allow the person grieving to choose to see the window when it is time ❤

Nothing is forever. Good things and bad things. Sorry you're going through a hard time. Or maybe someone you know is. And I'm not referring to the platitude that "time heals all wounds" either, I don't think that's quite true. Only that change is the only constant there is. Change can be a window if we bring perspective and action.

I’d wager there is/are no god(s)… at least benevolent ones invested in humanity, for this exact reason. It’s easy for people to think it’s god that opened up a new opportunity or chance, but that is plum dumb luck. And not everybody is lucky. Why would this being ignore many, and favor others, in a way that just resembles chance?

@@user-uu2cj9ct3j it's just a saying. At least, I never took it to be literal. God, doors, and windows, are all just metaphors. The saying doesn't rely on the existence of an intelligence pulling the strings. It just states that when opportunities we relied on don't pan out we may need to use an unusual perspective to see a new opportunity that's now open to us. We wouldn't usually go through the window but sometimes it has to be done.

@@user-uu2cj9ct3j I agree with you, mostly religious people use it. My point is that we don't need to take it literally to find some wisdom in it. Take the serenity prayer as another example: "god, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Non religious people don't need to actually pray the phrase to understand the point that some things in life can't be changed and should be accepted, the things in life that do need change require great courage, and that knowing the difference is vital. I personally find it helpful as advice, and I don't think that an affiliation with religion should necessarily stop people from taking something good anyway from it. Or generally, I believe both phrases are enhanced by a secular interpretation. God does not have any real power to grant you wisdom or grant you new opportunity so seeing it secularly puts the responsibility on you to do these things for yourself.

Doors and windows . Life is full of sadness and is unjust but this life isn't the final its just a test . That's why a person who works hard for days might not sleep with a full stomach but some other person works for only an hour lives a life full of luxury

I have always, always hated that sentiment. Truly terrible things happen to good and innocent people all the time, but windows don’t appear for some. I don’t know, it feels too close to blaming the victim for not seeing a window that isn’t there.

It is very victim-blame like and I continue to hate this sentiment. It doesn’t even seem like a very effective coping mechanism for people in the dark, unless they happen to get lucky and nature throws them a bone to get out of the misery they are in. Otherwise, it is just a preachy way for people to rationalize how they got through a rough time once already on the other side, and it seems a bit shortsighted and self centered.

When i first fell i fell HARD. I really loved that girl, she was everything to me and i thought i was everything to her. But sometimes things aren’t meant to be, and the door closes whether you want it to or not. My window was my path of self discovery, realizing i don’t need to date anyone to feel whole, and I’ve been so much happier with my friends and family by my side.

It’s not that I don’t believe the window won’t open. This saying said too early to a grieving Person is useless. The visceral agony you go through when the door closes. The grief the heart break the pain the physical heart ache…. You can’t think of a window in that state. Your heart has no capacity to think of a window or even an opening… I like to see the window as a process in time. You have to walk down the lonely windy path of healing first. The saying should be “when God shuts the door you evacuate to a diff house” the journey to a different house is the healing

I'm 35 I've yet to see a single window. Alone, poor, disabled, abused multiple times, chronically exhausted, constantly food and housing insecure. I'm happy for others but life has never been worth living for me, I do see small beautiful things but they can feel very hollow and even mocking when youre just constantly getting kicked in the teeth and feeling both trapped and like your life is just hanging in the balance.

Honestly I don’t think that’s what she was trying to say. The creator was explaining her emotions from that time in her life. She was angry and hurt probably with the “if God loved me/wanted to help this wouldn’t happen” it’s a very human thing to feel and God is well aware of that. I’m not sure how her expressing her pain has to do with demons
