I got the 2020 AK550 and the Burgman 650, awesome scooters, thanks for the video and information, i live in KC and have never seen an AK550 besides mine but i do get a lot of looks❤😂
Great review. I am shopping for one now after seeing and sitting on 1 this week. I appreciate the tidbits of what to look for on the battery/starter/clutch. I did not know. I was going to go for the BMW 650GT but I like this one better and cheaper to maintain than BMW.
Just ordered my Silver 2023 AK550. After owning and happily operating the Kymco DT300 with 24k trouble free miles and still going very strong it only makes sense for me to get the big boy for longer rides. And my DT300 will be STAYING in the stable, I absolutely love that scooter for shorter rides but as I hit my late 50`s its time for something with more suspension and comfort so here we go, I cant wait!
Hi, can you please tell me where did you order the screen from? I just got the Ak550 after riding the gt650 for 10 years and the wind it’s just terrible on this one. Leg wind also. I like the machine but the comfort is not even close to the BMW for me. Also I would like to add a bit heavier rollers to lower the rpm’s a little bit. Let me know if you have any experience and advise on which ones to look for. Thanks, Ben
I've noticed that the battery doesn't get enough charge for another start if using the heated grips. Been turning them off a little while before destination and havnt had a problem since.
Vary useful review , can you possibly gain the 2''s by a seat modifications or adjustments ? I' am 6' 6" & I'm wondering about these scooter seats w/ what looks likes like a separate back cushion.
Iwould love to see some riding video of the AK550. Ihave been looking at them for awhile but landed on a sportster. Which of your bikes do you like best motorcycle or the 550?
I will just say that you give up some man points when you ride a scooter, but everybody that rides one will tell you how great they are and the AK550 is a BEAST
that feet space worries me also, i have size 13 shoes, and especially when i wear trekking boots, no way they gonna fit there without some finessing or diy gheto stuff
@@user-si3de6dk1j well, if only width is the problem, i could screw something over it and make it a tad wider... there must be a solution... maybe riding in golf shoes or sth, lol
so hard we her in the US don't want to share. also, I was the youngest buyer at my dealer by far and I was 55 when I bought mine. so that could be a problem as a lot of those older guys won't do RU-vid
So one of the things to know about scooters and particularly kymco and by extension other bikes made by Kymco that are under other names like BMW is that a tremendous amount of work to bring them online mechanically is done by the shop that ordered from it from Kymco once they took it out of the crate. If they get something wrong you will see problems, and since there have been two bikes with exactly the same problem from your shop, and I have never heard of that problem from anyone else, this shop could be your issue. Since the AK has been my planned upgrade for a long time, I pretty much watch every review of it that comes out. You might want to change shops. ps. I use to live in Milwaukee and winter is 9 months of the year. You are in Minnesota which has to be worse. Shouldn't you be owning snow mobiles? lol
that's funny, I have spending problems and have done everything in my power to stay away from sleds my entire life. also, it doesn't snow here like it did 40 years ago, one is better off going and renting for the few times a year you would use them. 3 bikes and a side x side are enough for me.
I have a 2022 AK 550 in the blue. Unfortunately I've been hearing that clunking noise on left floorboard since new and though it was normal but my warranty is out. I drive the AK 550 hard. I raced and beat hellcats. If they can't switch gears like a champ the 550 can and will barely win. I may lose a few man points for riding a scooter at 6"6' 230lbs but imagine how those hellcats felt after losing from a scooter.
I have the blue 2022 AK 550. The economy is hard to measure. Every time I get a clearing I'm on the throttle. The fuel gauge is off accuracy by 2 gallons but that may be because I can't keep my foot out of the gas tank and it's race track capable. I can almost put a knee down but I do live in the mountain ranges of Tennessee.
no tmax for the US, and if there was it would be very expensive. but if they would bring it here, I would buy one. also, when she is running right as it is now this bike is a monster.
