Kimekomi (Yes, I pronounced it incorrectly throughout the entire video - yikes! My apologies - I had written it down wrong and really mangled the pronunciation.) Kimekomi Ornaments are a spinoff of the almost 300 year tradition of kimekomi doll making technique which originated in Japan. The traditional technique involves inserting fabric into grooves carved into a wooden doll form, creating clothing for the dolls.
Today's tutorial is a modern variation of this technique, using a foam ball instead of wood. The orange slice design is a nod to the tradition of Christmas oranges, while also being very beginner friendly.
