In this action-comedy, unusual circumstances find big, brawny cop John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to apprehend major drug lord Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), as well as his ruthless accomplice and mother, Eleanor (Carroll Baker). While pretending to be a kid-friendly instructor, Kimble falls for pretty fellow teacher Joyce Palmieri (Penelope Ann Miller) as he battles both unruly children and dangerous bad guys.

I played the instrument called the euphonium in band for 8 years. Nobody knows what it is, but it looks like a concert tuba only smaller. My dad and I being huge fans of this movie, he never misses a beat to say “it’s not a tuba” when I talked about band.

The best part about this movie is the fact that it was the first time Arnold got the opportunity to show of his range, as no other directors or producers were willing to cast him in anything other than action star roles, which he desperately wanted to branch away from.

The kid who played the "gynecologist's son", Miko Hughes, has also played a few years later with Bruce Willis in Mercury Rising and did a fabulous job in it. He also played very well in Wes Craven's New Nightmare (the 7th movie of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise). I strongly believed he was one of the most talented child actor of the 90's. Linda Hunt, who played the headmistress, as also played in Dune, and her character in it was the inspiration for the character of Edna Mode in The Incredibles.

Because of the success of this one Arnold did another movie with Pamela Reed (she played his red head partner in this one). That movie is called Junior and it probably has the most ridiculous premise out of any Arnold movie. If you react to Junior make sure you do it with someone who has no idea what they are getting into because that reaction would be gold.

Interesting to note: The one kid amongst Kimble’s kindergarten class called Anthony happens to be a childhood friend of mine through my aunt’s close friends back in 1990-1991. He’s the kid who said, “Yeah. He’s a poo-poo face.” 😆 We lost touch by the time we reached junior high and haven’t seen him since then. Wherever you are, Tony. Hope you’re doing well.

Great movie. A great comdic movie of Anold. You should also see Twins another Arnold Comedy. That Ferret is Legend, I have not seen such an heroic from a animal since The Rat in the Mcu end game :) . Other more action movies you should see of him are : Total Recall , True Lies , Conan the barbarian, The Running Man.

This movie to me is very iconic and very hard warming and hilarious at the same time and children in it makes it that extra special especially how cute and funny they were 😄😄😄. This is one of my all time top favorite movies and has been since childhood. Mother Crisp getting out of prison and seeking revenge on Kimble would have been a good sequel but no such thing ever happened, unfortunately. "Mother, you're going to make him sick. Us older folks grew up where affection was common place & accepted. Watch Family Feud w/Richard Dawson. Kissed every woman on the lips. No marriages crumbled, no sexual harassment charges filed. Oh my goodness, guys, I just watched Kindergarten Cop for the first time and let me tell you, it is the cutest movie ever! And I should know, because I work in child care and spend my days surrounded by adorable little munchkins. But seriously, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a riot in this movie. I never would have thought a tough guy like him could pull off playing a kindergarten teacher, but he totally nailed it. I couldn't stop laughing at his one-liners and interactions with the kids. This movie is definitely a must-watch for anyone who loves a good laugh and some heartwarming moments.

8/10 Wasn't expecting it to work, but it did... Kindergarten Cop was a surprisingly good film. I was not expecting it to work, and it worked so much better than I expected it to. Kindergarten Cop is a little overlong and the villains are perhaps a little too pantomime. However, the film does look lovely, and the score and soundtrack gives it its heart-warming sentiment. The script also worked. It was funny, it was poignant and it was well-meaning, while there is also a heart-warming story, good direction and pacing and the action while sometimes intense is well-handled. I was very surprised by the acting. Kindergarten Cop is not Arnold Schwarznegger's best film, but it does show that he can do comedy, and here he does do it well. He is suitably low-key and avoids being wooden as well. Penelope Ann Miller gives good support as well, and the chemistry between the two is convincing without taking over the film too much. The characters could have easily been stereotypical and unlikeable, but they aren't, instead they have a certain warmth to them, and this is including the kids. Overall, not a comedy classic, but it works far better than it should have done. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Mother in law just got her butt kicked then Arrested for attempted murder of not one but two cop's, on top of attempting to kidnap a child while endangering a school full of children by being an accomplice to burning down a school, something tells me she will be dieing in prison, weather it's quick because of the other inmates finding out she hurt kids. Or she simply dies of old age long before she is eligible for release.

You should check out his film "Junior". Also stars Danny DeVito, and the woman playing his partner here. It didn't do great because of the average Arnold Schwarzenegger fan not being able to handle the subject material, but I still rather like it even all these years later. An even greater departure from Schwarzenegger's usual stick then even this film.

Great reaction! There is a stand alone sequel which is good just for fun watching starring Dolph Lundgren. If your looking for more Arnold Schwarzenegger films I highly recommend Jingle All the Way, Batman and Robin, Twins, Junior, Last Action Hero, Around the World in 80 Days, and Escape Plan. I also recommend you check out Beethoven and Beethoven’s 2nd; it features Sarah Rose Karr (Emma, the girl who had to use the restroom). 👨🏻‍🏫👮🏻‍♂️🔫🖍️📝

I’m sure I’m not the first to say it. But the cute little guy that says the thing about girls and boys having penises and vaginas that would be considered a hate crime today.
