We homeschool our children. A couple years ago we were at a family party. My 10 year old daughter was talking with the adults about what she was learning. My two recently, high school graduated nieces mouths were on the floor and they both said they literally had no idea what my daughter was talking about because it was above their heads. It was a proud moment for my wife and I but a really sad moment for public education. And these girls went to one of the most wealthy high schools in the city. The public education system is pure garbage. Kids were never meant to be locked up in a gilded prison all day. My kids are healthy, advanced, unbelievably well socialized, behaved, and thriving. My wife and I changed jobs and careers in order to make homeschool happen and it is beyond amazing. The resources are endless, and you do NOT have to be wealthy. Get your kids out of the system and give them the best chance and be dedicated to it.

Not every kindergarten in China does this but certainly the aim is to promote life-skills in the young which is not a bad thing. Meanwhile in the west, we have a whole new generation of young growing up not knowing what gender they are and having hissy fits over being called the wrong pronoun. 🙄
Unfortunately they are not promoting life-skills for the kids’ benefits, but slaves skills for the communist government’s benefits. They prepare the kids for a long life of working in harsh conditions 12-15 hours a day. In our country, on another hand, kids are not taught to do anything useful. Just complain, demand, feel entitled and protest.

Instead of finding fault let's praise this for what it is. There is nothing wrong with learning what your body can do at a young age and having control over it ( versus the obesity and early onset type 2 diabetes that did not exist in america thirty years ago , but is now rampant). this is absolutely amazing and we Americans need to adopt some of this. maybe Ben knows, its not just China-- the whole Japanese nation starts every morning with an 8 minute workout, I forget what it's called, but anybody could find it on the internet. And we’ll consistently produce more productive, creative, and intuitive workforce. Some argue you just gotta let kids play free and not this intense bs.
Not sure about the food, but America absolutely dominates in sports. China pays American ball players, better than America sometimes, just to watch them play over there. Because the "lazy out of shape" Americans are THAT good. If the physical activity of kindergarten kids means so much, why does China not dominate a single sport in the world? Not only do they not dominate, but there's barely any representation at all. A couple Chinese basketball players, a few more Chinese baseball players, and a lot less Chinese football players. Both football and futbol. They suck at sports, bro.
I was expecting Ben Shapiro to say something wise, instead of taking a biased approach. This is called structure and discipline. Something american kids lack these days
I have to disagree... you call that eating better? I work in a school in mid south America and our school has very strict guidelines every menu has to follow health dept. standards to be well rounded, nutritious, containing the proper amount of vegetables, fruit, proteins, along with strict guidelines on allergies and special needs diets. These kids are having fun. I was a kid in the 60's. We had monkey bars, merry go rounds, hot metal slides, seesaws, contests to see who could keep a rock from hitting ground the longest by bouncing it with the top of our foot while balancing on the other leg and many other activities that are considered to dangerous now. We had a blast! We were active, strong, healthy, good sports, who were able to laugh at ourselves when we messed up. Kids weren't crying and throwing fits when the other kids laughed. It may not help innovation but it does develop skills that a large fighting force needs to be successful (an extreme example of this would be the Spartan regimentation and militarization of its youth).

I'm 32. At Keith Elementary and Indian Trails Middle we did workout regimens like this, but without the cooking. Each year we had to do the following: mile run, sit and reach, flexed arm hang, pull ups, shuttle run and other tests to measure agility, stamina, and recovery. Not sure why they stopped those programs. Like someone said below China is building an army while we tell kids gender is a spectrum.
They didn’t stop them at my school. We do these every quarter, but that’s sad that they stopped them bc some kids can’t even run a mile or do 5 sit ups, which is concerning.
Oh, is this a "gotcha" moment? I mean, he's right in the sense that it doesn't help innovative development. It forcibly demonstrates predictable results and lack of individual creativity.

Those schools don't let just any kid in. Every child in the village or city is assessed from birth. Most are sent to applied track schools, and the parents have to pay for the schooling. Parents also have to buy the required text books, but the books belong to them, not to the school.
In Canada we had this program called "Participaction" which tried to get kids more active. it eventually ran out of money, but they tried quite hard to get kids to move around. But then again, it was the 70's and 80's and we played outside anyway.

I had a Chinese foreign student that told me in one class they had to make a 3D castle. He said it was sad when they put the castles on display. All the Chinese students had the white cookie cutter block built castle. the top of the wall had the classic look of a Rook piece. Every Chinese student made the same castle. The US students used all types of materials and bright colors. He told me that conformity starts in kindergarten. There was no individual expression encouraged. He said it just never occurred to the students to be creative. He will never forget the visual contrast.
Tell your 5 year old to draw a house: note square building, triangle roof, rectangle door, square windows. Luckily some of us get past this; not me-I still draw a house like this 😂
That fine line between innovation and being performance efficient is hard to balance. All I can say is while you want to encourage some kids to be innovators the rest have to conform and perform. Society needs both to function correctly and either extremes will lead to what we see today. US all ideas but need to source their production outwards as their population just do not have the skill sets or will to make things happen. China on the other hand is not innovation and only steal ideas that often leads to crappy products because they can copy but not understand what makes that copy good.
In the US, we make them sit for most of the time and be active very little, we got it Ass backwards, we forget how important being physical is for a child’s development, and even in adults, small frequent breaks for exercise and/or fun in between work raises productivity
I doubt that’s what every kid is doing in China. Don’t believe the propaganda people. But if you did wish your child was like this then take away their iPad for once and raise them better.
A family can build an identity and their own skill sets outside of the school system if they were motivated to do so. It just depends on the family values after school and on the weekends

Fortunate for my children, they were not subjected to social media and soul sucking ideology. My children played outside, rode their bikes, skied, went ice-skating, tubing, gymnastics, sports, karate, choir and piano classes. They were not forced into any of these extra curricular activities. They just wanted to try them out. There was time for homework time for dance classes time for a good nights sleep time for education and time just to relax and read a good book if they felt like it. However, now the world is in shambles.😢 * this comment was made by voice over.
kids in China are engaged, active, coordinated, respectful and smart since kindergarden. I don't see anything wrong with that. Many people may think it is abusive or that kids don't have childhood, but look how happy they are? They get to engage with their peers, socialize, stay fit and also develop skills they can use later in life. China is building an army you'd say, but imo China is building a generation of useful and smart people. Since China has large population, every child must compete for a place in society, since they don't cuddle every child til they are 18. They are building strong and independent individuals, capable to go to future and through life and pass on the same knowledge to their kids.
This is a dumb take.. Chinese society is becoming a lot richer than ours. Although I will say … it’s refreshing to see kids allowed to take physical risks. My child’s school removed the swing set because ONE child got hurt. I moved her to another school.
this is not the norm. This is one specialty school that most likely takes only advanced kids. That’s why they’re able to use different parts of their brain like spatial reasoning and kinesthetics to develop skillsets outside of the norm for that age range. it’s impressive the kids can do this but the comments are turning a single school in a random part of the globe into a political debate of US vs Asia and woke vs conservative.
Um... if theyre glued to their screens, then wouldnt it actually be easy to make them watch this? Ffs its only a 60 second clip. Kids in the US love short form content [which is rotting their brains], so this would actually be perfect for them. I doubt they would get anything out of it though or put it into practice in the real world. But your comment literally makes no sense 😂

I observed an elementary school as part of an exchange teacher program in 2015. During recess they had 100s of kids standing in straight lines juggling soccer balls in unison. It was impressive, but I agree that creativity is not fostered where divergent thinking is not valued.
Especially when half of the boys at that age here think they're girls, and couldn't catch a ball if their life depended on it. I think this is an incredible start to education.
This is not every school by a long shot. But kids are indeed taught in schools. Reading, writing, maths etc. and they do have physical education and music and gifted classes. All the things that used to make the US education decent. It’s a shame what we teach, and fail to teach, our children now.
I have to say if I was working in childcare in china how much fun would it be. Just watching them is amusement enough. How fit are these kids. Plus eating from the same food bowl builds up their immune systems. All I am seeing is positives here. 😊 We should bring this to Australia.
