I find the OS of kobo way more refined and modern. That will always be my go-to reader just for this reason alone.

Please consider testing light settings and dark mode also in a room without other light source.

Cameras don't focus well in dark rooms and it just looks like a grainy, blurry mess.

styl-less koboing: Finger highlighting on the Clara BW 6'' screen is more accurate than my older kobo with 8'' screen, a very pleasant surprise; font size and line space setting doesn't seem to account for the difference.

Oh the kindle interface is kinda ugly 😶 idk how to explain, it just looks...dated? That home page especially.

I find the Clara bw has uneven lighting especially at night, is paper-white significantly better?

Frontlights vary from one to the next, but generally speaking Kobos do have more issues with unevenness. Same with the entry-level Kindle, but the frontlight on the Paperwhite is really good. I've had two of the current version and both were very even.

Actually the speed boost of kobo comes from new CPU from mediatek.

.... and I've read that the screen itself - carta 1300 - is faster than the carta 1200 (as on my older kobo), and it is.

Kindle Unlimited has more book offers, but Kobo works better with libraries and sideloading books.

Slow down. Some books might not be available in your region if you live outside of the US. However, you can create a fake US account to buy those books. However you are locked into the Amazon eco-system, but with Kobo you can search around for cheaper prices for other sellers.

The Paperwhite has a setting to disable the touchscreen for everything but page swipes. The Kobo has an indented screen so it's easier to avoid accidentally touching the screen.

@@TheeBookReader thank you so much! do you feel like the background screen of the bw is darker than the 2e? i know you mentioned the libra 2 is darker than the clara 2e and i realized it too when i tried them out and i got downvoted like crazy on kobo reddit for some reason. do you know why libra 2 is so much more popular even though the clara 2e’s screen is lighter therefore the contrast is better?
