Finally someone with an impeccable English accent and vocabulary. Your video was great and to the point. I would add, that you can do puzzles (sudoku, crossword, word search, maze, etc.) with the Scribe too.

Great review! I'm working on my 1 year + review, I agree with your findings. Although I will say the reMarkable 2 is better for writing/notetaking. However, the scribe fits that middle ground btwn notetaking and reading quite well, fyi you can now read certain books in landscape with 2 pages side by side.

I would say if you mostly want to read the scribe is great, depends on what you want to read. I read a lot of academic stuff, text books, history, etc, and the larger screen is great for those types of books. If you read mostly novels the screen size may be overkill if all you do is read and not take notes.

Very good point. I imagine it’s great for those kind of things. I could also see it being good for comic books. I mostly read novels and regular non-fiction books so that’s where my perspective comes from 👍

interesting. when reading an acadmeic manuscript, do you find it easy to make notes? I am curious if the note taking (and exporting) is worth it. What is your experience?

Firstly.. I can listen to you review anything, love the accent. Secondly, great straight to the point review. I’m excited for this, upgrading from my Oasis, will use my case for a more comfortable reading experience. I also plan on using it for note taking and journaling.

I have a Scribe and a reMarkable2, I really like both but lately been gravitating towards the scribe. It's snappier, the backlight makes it more versatile, a single device for focused reading/writing seems like a good decision, I like the eraser better and the button for the highlighter. Plus now they finally added the ability to change the template on a per page basis which is great. The only major thing missing for me on the scribe is my PDF annotations are not viewable on any other device, once that's added I think it's quite the reMarkable2 killer at less than half the price on one of the frequent sales.

0:44 The ‘regular’ kindles have 300ppi as well so text clarity is the same. The scribe actually has an added texture to the screen that can make the text slightly less clear than the other kindles.

I bought it to read STEM textbooks and research papers. I needed to turn down my screen time and this felt like and te other readers are too small to read pdf files. I will probably end up buying a used kindle basic or paperwhite for

It’s definitely the best kindle for reading PDF’s. I should have mentioned that in my review. Having the Scribe and a regular Kindle is the best of both worlds 😀

Awesome video, I'm looking to get something like this because the Ipad just takes forever to charge and the battery doesn't last that long. I've been looking for videos to talk about the Search of the Notes but can't find any. I saw they launched sync and you can see the notes in the kindle app but how good is the search if you wanted to look for something specific. Thanks for the Video BTW the light is on point! Hey! Thanks for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video. Unless it's been updated and I've missed it, there isn't a search function, which is a shame as it would be really useful. The iPad definitely has more functionality in that regard. Having access to your notes in the kindle app is great though.

The other tablet to check out would be The Remarkable 2. I’m not sure whether it has a search function but worth checking.

I got mine. I think what a lot of these videos get wrong is that they talk about the Scribe being too big to hold for long but really the device is much easier to simply lean against things like your legs or a pillow or a blanket. It just tends to stay in place better than the small devices. As far as the writing on the notebook aspect, that is what makes it a very capable device. It replicates the feel of pencil to paper so much better than my iPad. I wasn’t aware for some reason that the scribe comes with a basic pen. I was under the impression you had to buy one so I got the higher end one. Not sure there is much benefit so far to it over the basic but I am rather new to mine.

The main differences between the regular and the premium pen is the eraser on the end and the button which allows you to highlight by holding it down.

I bought it. I hate it. It seems nobody is mentioning an important thing: everytime you turn the page, the screen takes a long time (thinking?) then it flashes and goes completely black, and only then does it show the next page. It is very very sloooooooooooow... You can't search inside the book or flip through it. It's a disaster. Maybe it is good for the trash bin. I can not recommend it. Do not buy one.
