I think the biggest pro for audiobooks is it accessibility for people with disabilities. This include people with poor vision, people with dyslexia, and people who physically cannot hold a book.
Are people who are working and it keeps their mind occupied while they're working. Like me I'm a painter. I like to listen to audio books while I paint.
I love both! We love being able to check out Kindle books and audiobooks for free from our public library! We bought the very first Kindle when they first came out in 2007, and we share a family account with our grown kids. We have about 2500 Kindle books, most of which cost us less than $3.00.
My favorite is the link between Audible & Kindle in which you can buy the book & have it read to you as you follow along while it highlights the words as you go.
If you wanted to listen to audiobooks you're actually better off downloading the kindle app, when you buy the ebook they offer you a really discounted price for the audible narration, which both together are often cheaper than buying the audibook alone. I recently purchased an e book from kindle for $7aud then it offered The audiobook for $3aud. And if you have the audible app it automatically transferrs it to audible aswell. No audible subscription needed. Btw that same Audiobook alone was $38 for non members and obviously for members audibooks are no more than $15.
Since the way I learn is through reading and highlighting and notes/making summaries, nonfictions i use kindle and kindle learning features. For fictions or entertainment based books i use audible. If I absolutely love a book I'll buy the hard copy to collect my favs
Hi Nick, really enjoyed this video, exactly what I was looking for and like your views on reading, had a look around your channel and really love how much work you’ve put into the videos. You deserve this channel to grow and just want to encourage you and wish you all the best! A lot of time and effort must have gone into writing and editing and I know what it’s like waiting for a channel to grow. Keep up the great work and hope you get to where you want to go!
Great review , I like listen audible and reading the same time for learning purpose to improve the vocabulary and pronunciations. The only thing there is no option to listen and read the sane time in Kindle .
I'm in the same boat. I find it hard to stay focused while listening to audible (feel like i'm missing a lot). So much so, that I am thinking of switching to kindle.
@@colwild I will only use audible when i go for a daily walk. So i get in about 5 to 7 hours a week. The bulk of my reading is now split between Kindle and hard copies
Great video and thanks for sharing, I love Audible, I love to go for walks when I'm listening to books, it's great to get out to the freshair and learn at the same time, and I think another benefit is that you can speed up when listening. I actually make notes on my phone but not in the app
I like both...one thing I find is that if you want to tune out your surroundings then the Kindle works out a little better (almost like in a paper book).
Excellent and legitimate question Richard. If you want to know what books are on Kindle, just search on the Amazon store and it will show you if your book is on Audible!
@@NickKendall I don't plan on giving it up entirely as well but it's time my home library is screaming for a break, also I am decluttering my space for minimalism every month and books take up a lot of place which I choose to change.
Both r better than buying a physical as its space saver and more economical(most of the people do not read even 25% of book at all) Audible is more preferable because when you hear by author's voice your vocabulary also improves instead of reading a book.
I think that the real question here is from which we get the most out of books. Trough Wich way the information last longer in the brain or is acquired faster.
i’m a little late, but you only get one book a month on audible? i don’t understand. i thought it would be like if you had a subscription, you could just listen to any books on the app. is that not the case?
Yes, I originally thought the same thing. Unfortunately you only get one book a month. However there are quite a few Audible exclusives that anyone with a subscription can listen to for free! Although they are usually lesser known books. I think I’ve only ever listened to 2 or 3 of them.
Audible lies about having a free 365 day return policy. I returned two books and they locked up my entire library preventing me from returning any more books. The books I returned were two of the $2.95 books. I thought I'd take a chance to see how they were since they have free returns. They sucked so I returned and then found out I was blackballed from returning anymore, ever I guess because they locked up all of my books in my library. Well to hell with Audible. I can go elsewhere.
Hi , could you tell us if I can read kindle and listen to audible simultaneously? Do I need to buy the ebook on kindle and buy a audible book together in order to listen to it while looking it up in kindle ? Thanks
I don’t usually do both at once. But yes, you’d need to by a copy of both audio and Kindle to be able to do it. Often when you buy the Kindle book first, the Audible book will be cheaper for you.
Hi, i want to read Alex Hormozi 100M dollar offers - I’m hoping to extract the best parts into a word document, can i copy and paste easily from either of these apps to anywhere? Any ideas how I can do this or is this complicated? Thanks
If you use Kindle and link it to Goodreads, all your highlights will sync to Goodreads and you can easily copy and paste them all from there into a word doc!
Great video! Is there any other apps that is similar to Audible? I just want something that can read to me so that I can follow along with a real hard copy book. Can someone please advise how to exactly to do this- purchasing an audio book and also having the option to read to you? I’m not a great reader so that’s why I prefer the audible however I do want to follow along with a hard copy book so that I can engage more.
Nick, if I have Kindle app on my iPad, am I able to read (not listen) to the audio books I've purchased from Audible in the kindle app? Turns out I'm a visual learner and don't retain as much when listening. Thanks for the info!
My audio (Audible Narration) starts on the first word in the paragraph, while the 'highlighted' words... start on the chapter heading/title. Therefore they are always out out sync, which after awhile causes a headache. How can I sync them up? Can I turn off the highlighting altogether? Thanks for any help.
@@NickKendall it’s read by Alexa, not the author when purchased on audible, but I was surprised how well she reads it, it’s not mechanical monotone. Thanks for your video, very helpful.
You can get two free audio books from audible if you have an Amazon prime account, you can use a free trial and cancel before payment. If you can't do all that prime stuff, you can still get one free audiobook with a trial on audible. From what I've read you get to keep them if you cancel the trial before you're charged for a subscription, will be making use of this myself, hope I shown something cool there :) just deciding what books I want physical, audio etc
@@NickKendall lol same guy different account.. I don’t mean like cheaters but like scribd is good app as well 11 bucks I believe but you can read and listen to unlimited audio books and text files, music files plus you get a extra perks (not that great but yeah) you should def check it out tho..( lol become their affiliate)
How do you see pictures, graphs, charts, etc with Audible? If you can't, wouldn't that be a much bigger negative than the notes function being there, but that you simply don't want to use it?
@@NickKendall Thanks the follow up. I have a few books on Audible and now that I've looked up how to download the PDFs, it has to be done through the desktop site, which seems odd. Also, looking at books for sale on Audible, I can't find where they tell you before you buy, if a PDF is available or not. Clunky!
After watching this video I went and downloaded the Kindle app and it said I can't buy books through the app. You might wanna mention that in your video. Deleted it right away.
