This was a very strange anthology indeed. While I did enjoy myself I felt unsatisfied by the stories lacking conclusions. I was also not in love with much of the final story. It just got unnecessarily dark imo even though they're all dark I guess. And yes, it definitely feels like a collection of rough drafts.
Yorgos seems like the final boss of the weird and pretentious Hollywood directors that one endures during the year. Thank you for your service to this country by sitting through all of these incredibly bizarre movies 😂
Excellent Review, I definitely wasn't expecting a Yorgos movie so soon after Poor Things, I feel like that movie is still sinking in. They idea of anthology sounds interesting and super strange at the same time. This one had a super limited release so I'll probably get it in my country like September lol. Great Review I can't wait to watch this one.
@@RavensOsFan89 i definitely can’t wait to watch it, your insight and perspective is always fascinating, it really sounds strange. it’s crazy to here a Yorgos movie get bad scores.
I was interested in checking this one out, but it was released for like 2 days at random hours of the day where I am so, missed it. I was drawn by the cast and the overall "weird" kind of vibe you get from the trailer. There seemed to be something there, but I was kind of worried that it would lean too much into the weird that it may not be entertaining for me. I still might check it out, but it isn't really on my priority list. Solid review as always!
So you did a great job with the review! I told some of the scenes with my dad what happens in this movie and he thought it sounded kind of creepy! I saw this movie as well! Going into this blindly having knowing nothing about this movie! I was thinking of this idea for an episode where the main character’s dog gets stolen by two cult leaders who are naked and the cults supports a tree! Also I wanna name the episode “the house of the cult” You can guess what’s that’s a reference to! Also after the main character kills the man cult leader the woman cult leader eats his heart and turns into a creepy angel to kill our main character!
I was very interested in this one. I enjoyed poor things. But your descriptions of each story helped me decided what I kind of figured. Seems a little too strange and too artsy for me. Maybe I’ll check it out on streaming later. Good review. Thanks!
Dogtooth was recommended to me to show that Yorgos Lanthimos was trying to recreate that film.A previous hit for him. That movie was strange but interesting. This was not good. Great review! 😊
The first story was actually quiet good but I totally zoned out after that really. For me, the other two part especially the third one, sort of turned into Pink Flingmingos (without Divine) but worse went to utter shit really.
Maybe one of the ‘trying to be weird for the sake of being weird’ anthology I’ve ever seen 😂 I also wasn’t huge on this one and I felt like each story could have been 30-40 each tops and the run time is WAY too bloated!
I struggled with this as well. And I didn't quite 'get' each tale, although I did enjoy some of the performances. I've watched two of his previous movies - The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer, and this was much more like those rather than Poor Things. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_SzWAfsdZXY.html is the trailer for Killing of a Sacred Deer - Check out the way the dialogue is delivered for some Yorgos weird film-ness
this one a very strange indeed a friend of mine told me its a one time watch for sure and its abit weird and the feel and vibe and he watched it out of curiosity. unfortunately its not for me but appreciate your input on it
I strongly dislike the poster so it makes me never want to see this 😅 I still haven’t seen a Yorgos film (I’m on a long hold at my library for Poor Things). I don’t really care for anthology films so I wouldn’t see this one anyway despite the poster. I don’t think I’ve seen a trailer for this so I wonder if the studio didn’t think audiences wouldn’t like it. Weird it goes sitcomish at the end of the second one. Wow that third one, ummm wow it makes me kind of wonder what goes on in Yorgos’s mind.
Yeah the trailer you won’t find out anything about what it’s about. Hopefully you can get to see poor things soon. I haven’t seen many anthology films myself. It’s one weird set of movies.
@@NtYourNormalGeek yeah I can understand it’s a long time to sit there for just weird elements that don’t necessarily explore some of it’s interesting ideas.
This sounds like a mess. I can't even begin to guess what the connection between the stories is. Shame. I liked the ballad of buster scruggs. I don't watch a lot of anthologies though.
