Being invented in the 1950s, the legendary Hexapod continues to admire us with its elegant movements. Its simple architecture inspired generations of engineers, scientists and hobbyists around the world to replicate and study it over and over. The Hexapod (also known as a Gough-Stewart platform) has six degrees of freedom (6DOF): three translational along x, y, z and three rotational about x, y, z. The kinematic structure of the Hexapod is based on a spatial truss which makes it incredibly rigid (comparing to the serial robots) and capable of manipulating the high loads. All this combined with a very compact design enables it to be successfully used in multi-axis positioning systems such as flight simulators, telescope positioners, oscillation simulators, micropositioners for optics and so on. It would be fair, however, to mention that the Hexapod architecture has very limited tilt angles (usually ±15-30 degrees). Moreover, increasing the tilt angles causes a significant decrease in the workspace of the robot. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the value of this type of robot, but only determines the area of its use.

What's the load-capacity of this robot? In a different video of yours the "arms" seemed rather small... so I'm assuming not all that much? Anyhow looks really great!
@randomstuff-cu4of
@randomstuff-cu4of 3 года назад
its like an upside down delta 3d printer and those usually dont like heavy heads like direct drive so i dont think much load capacity.
@liamthedevastator
@liamthedevastator 2 года назад
@@randomstuff-cu4of Upside down delta isn't exactly correct. With six actuators the load can actually be quite high, and depending on the mechanism used a DIY linear actuator can easily push more than 1000N force per actuator.
@robonator2945
@robonator2945 Год назад
I mean it'd depend on the actuation method you used. If you used 6 individually controllable hydraulics you'd have something that could crush a person with 97% extra capacity to spare. While the "legs" are all at angles, they're pretty shallow angles all things considered, so you could *_ROUGHLY_* think about it like just having 6 hydraulics put next to eachother. You could also just use weak as fuck solenoids or something and then it's load capacity would be zero, it all depends what it's made of.

@OleksandrStepanenko
@OleksandrStepanenko 4 года назад

Oleksandr Stepanenko
@OleksandrStepanenko
@OleksandrStepanenko 4 года назад
