I've been wanting to make a kinetic box for a very long time. Something that opens in a special way and has a movement that makes it a bit more magical. This silver wolf amulet is quite mysterious and valuable so it was perfect for getting such a kinetic box.
I made the box from cherry wood. It is a very fine wood with beautiful color and texture. I love working with it because it is hard enough, but it can be very nicely carved, sanded and grated.
As a first step, I designed the box in Blender 3D software to see if it would work. The top of the box was made with a CNC cutter. This was also good because the 8-piece roof was able to get very detailed and accurate carving and be precise enough to work properly.
I know, it's a big box for a little amulet, but it needed the size for the magical movement. This shows how valuable the contents of the box are. :)
I wrote the song of this video for my daughter, so hopefully this will have a good feeling on the mood of the video.
