I find it disturbing that Aegon only starts breathing again when the armor is removed. It's like it was fused to his chest and constricting his ribcage.
2:29 Alicent is by no means mother of the year material, but the way she says “my son” rather than “the king” is telling. She was not able to connect with him emotionally the way a mother should, but Alicent did love Aegon in her own way. Seeing your baby’s skin literally being pulled off and seeing his legs snapped in half like toothpicks would be enough to shake even the most emotionally stunted of mothers. I think this moment really solidified to Alicent how much of a mistake it was to force Aegon on the throne. He wasn’t ready and everyone knew it and now he’s on his deathbed from defending a crown he never wanted in the first place.
Love Aegon? All she did was berate and criticize him at every turn. Never mind how much she manipulated him to take the throne when he never wanted the damn thing in the first place. Plus she never even tried to comfort him when he was in pain after his son died, like Rhaenyra did with Jace after Luke died.
@@wingadept8793 I mean that's Alicient's bitterness and her inheriting her father's will to keep their family on the Iron throne. She's a bad mom, unable to properly connect with her kids which is why they turned out so bad but I'm fairly sure she does genuinely care about them even if she struggles to show it.
A very VERY flawed mother with the wrong priorities, but a mother nonetheless. She _did_ love her son. *Even though she failed to realize that until now.*
@@wingadept8793 I can see now that although Alicent can be horrible to him, she does somewhat love Aegon when it comes down to it. You could tell she felt very distressed when the maesters were tending to him. And the way she gently touched him when he was resting here looked like a hint of affection.
@@garlantyrell6368 One act of tenderness to me does not make up for all the times she acted like a complete bitch to him, even when he was being sincere, she was never kind to him. I have no sympathy for her. She used, manipulated, and berated him at every turn, and NOW she feels bad? Fuck her.
Why are you talking as if Daemon the children-murderer, wife-killer, Rhaenys the terrorist and Rhaenyra the servant-murderer, didn't exist? LOL you're discovering the Targaryens
@@seraby7151 I mean... Deamon did ffar worse. Same with many other characters in this show. I feel like the world he lives in just mold him into the man he is now more than being evil he is just a man who wants more and has mean to do so and believe so as well. His actions are terrible but they reflect the time and era he comes from more than showing him as bad, it shows the world he lives in is terrifying.
@@Regenmacher175 More significant moments than most dragon riders though. People will be surprised when Aegon actually succeeds for a while. I'd say maybe 4 or 5 significant moments depending on what they keep from the book
@@RamesesBolton I don’t find them significant given the fact that he never produces any heir anymore. The whole war was fought to have rightful heir to the throne and his lineage/blood ends with him. He should’ve never left for Rook’s Rest in the first place. His own supporters poisoned him because he went insane at the end.
@@karanparmar4754You kidding? The armour is ruined. It’s all charred and smashed up and they had to pry it off his skin where it would have literally been cooking his flesh.
I love how they made his burns and injury’s completely accurate to the book, he has the burn on the right side on his face just like in the book with the armor attached to his flesh and the broken legs, accurate in every way, I cannot wait to see the villain he becomes
Honestly reading the books is like reading a wikipedia article, seriously there are other pressing issues in the world besides you're vanity....eat a d

YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE, AEGON! IT WAS SAID YOU WOULD ROAST THE BLACKS, NOT GET ROASTED! BRING BALANCE TO THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, NOT LEAVE IT IN THE DARKNESS!
Interesting fact. There is a similar story to what happened to the Roman Emperor Stauracius after the disastrous battle of pliska in 811 AD against the Bulgarians and Khan Krum. His father Nicephorus I was slain, while Stauracius own spine was severed, and the Imperial Guard managed to get him to safety. However, his wounds were mortal, and left him paralyzed while awaiting death. He was eventually forced to abdicate and be replaced as Emperor by Michael I, while Stauracius was sent to a monastery where he died of gangrene a few months later.
Idk how strong milk of the poppy is in Westeros but it’s gotta be some GOOD STUFF to knock Aegon out when he’s got 3rd degree burns over most of his body plus open fractures
I didnt think itd happen but i have more sympathy and empathy for aegon over anyone. He got thrust into a position he didnt want.... he tried to do well at it and was told he'd never be good enough. He tried to show potential and got burned alive
I like that he's not just a Joffrey clone, and have hopes that he develops into a solid character (much like Viserys surpassed my expectations in season 1).
@@Dana__ali22 [ Spoiler alert ] Her father removed as the Hand, Her husband dead, her grandson murdered, her ex-bff away from her, her eldest son morally wounded, her younger son is a murderer, her bf distant, and her daughter will commit suicide soon.
Hope Alicent is satisfied now. Her firstborn is injured so badly that pain will killing him every second of his life untill he die. And this pain will turn Aegon in a real monster.
@@aishahamma334 Alicent did same for Aegon, no? She said that like he's nothing and should listen to her and Otto, cuz they're made a sacrifices to let him sit the Iron Throne. She said it to a "king" who wanted to fly in a battle with his dragon, wearing valyrian armor and alcohol addicted. Really, what could go wrong with her stupidity as always. What a good mother, meh. That's why I hope that she finally satisfied, cuz she destroys everything around her and do a lot of things to kill her children with others hands Btw, Aegon even cant speak High Valyrian. And it A LOT about how she rised him and cared. She bullied him as well all his life, don't make her a victim here
@_triscilla what do you think she should have told him? His mind was made up regardless, everyone was excluding him from the war for his kingdom that he believed he should fight for. He was arrogant, believing that any obstacle he faced he would essentially inevitably overcome.
When I first read about this scene, people on the Internet were comparing the damage that Aegon suffered to that of the people who got exposed to high levels of ionizing radiation (think of the Demon Core accident). Now that I saw it with my own eyes, I can understand why they used this comparison. Aegon's armor cooked half of his body from the inside out. It's a miracle he survived in the first place (long-term damage nothwistanding).
Because the show writers have turned the blacks into nothing more than goody two shoes. So they’re boring and one-note. The point of the dance is that both families were petty, power hungry, and bad. But they want to depict the blacks as pseudo Starks and Daenerys fill ins. I can only imagine how insufferable it will be when Cregan Stark becomes prevalent. Guarantee they’ll treat him like he’s Jon Snow.
I feel so bad. None of this is even Aegon's fault. If I was his mother I would have killed myself by now for putting my son through all this instead of keeping him safe. But it's Alicent who is always green with jealousy so ...
I like how we have had different variations of King Robert's theme in the background whenever an important scene involving a king comes up in this show. First it was Viserys I walking up the stairs towards the throne, now it is Aegon II being brought to his chambers.
I’m a nurse. Those are full thickness burns, open bone fractures, after a 200m drop. That man is dead. Ruptured internal organs, shock, catastrophic dehydrated, and infections to say the least. Unless being the blood of the dragon also means “heals like deadpool” or the Maesters have a fully staffed, modern operating suite Aegon is all gone. (Except I know that he lives. I’m just saying that medically… not a chance.)
Nurse and you say 0 chance? You need more experience. They may not have the Germ Theory or modern medicine but the top medieval doctors in a fantasy setting stand a chance. Say 1% instead of 0%. They arent plot decorations. I work in a tertiary laboratory in a public hospital, I've seen worse people who recovered.
It's sad to note how Aegon's sister-wife seems uninterested in him for better or worse. She lives in apathy, she is married because it was her duty to get married and she had children because she had to have them, period. It is a stark contrast to her brothers and her mother, who seem passionate and full of feelings of love and hate. And even Aegon is completely disinterested in her even if he is emotionally very involved with her mother and brother, how sad that there is absolutely nothing between the two spouses even if they are siblings who grew up together.
I honestly felt bad for Alicent; seeing her walking to Aegon almost like a zombie, pure trauma and incredulity right there (major props to Olivia for her excellent acting skills) Helaena herself looks terrified, but well, she's still in the mourning stage so that's understandable. I've never been a fan of Aegon, but being attacked like that by Aemond annoyed me, but it goes to show the massive envy and anger he has against his brother, then he returns, after butchering Meleys' body (for fun) to pretty much claim the throne since the king may die at any minute. His audacity is infuriating (Ewan and Phia are another couple gem of an actors on the show)
I don't feel bad for Alicent at all. Not once did she show Aegon any ounce of love or compassion. She always tore him down and berated him. When he lost his son, she didn't even try to comfort him. She's been a terrible mother to him. Granted it doesn't help he has acted like a crappy person but still.
Alicent rised her boys like that. Viserys was a bad father for them, but neither she was a good mother. She so wanted revenge for Aemond eye, but literally did nothing when Aegon was such a jerk. She bullied him as well his whole life and I feel bad for her kids, cuz I'm not sure if they saw a bit of mother's love. Only Helaena wasn't turned a monster when she get older
@wingadept8793 @_triscilla you have solid points there, though I think what makes her so detached to her sons is the mere fact of how they (especially Aegon, being the first born) were conceived; it was her duty to give Viserys a son, and she did, even when she was a motherless girl, so she didn't even have someone to imitate or rely on. There's that scene of her just laying in bed with him in top, doing his thing, but her dissociated from the situation, I imagine it was a little bit easier with Aemond (because she was used to it by now) and also with Helaena, but this one is pretty much out of reach, due to her own mental condition aka gift. (These are my impressions of their show version obviously, not the books) Viserys is another element, the typical man from those times, obsessed with having a son to put on the throne, to the extreme of putting Aemma in so much distress, getting her pregnant over and over trying to get that son, but they ended up with Rhaenyra as their sole survivor and (Reluctantly) his heir. Women are nothing but tools/toys in this world
@@missrubyphoenix yep, it is. But still, through such hard time in her first years of marriage, she did same to her kids what her father did to her. They're so innocent, like a white paper and all this happened. Just seeing Rhaenyra as a mother make's me more sad about Aegon and Aemond. Wish they were Rhaenyra's sons :((
This is all Alicent's fault, she should have at least tried to raise Aegon better, but she didn't, all that she did was use him as a punching bag and not care less about him, god I have this character, why do this to one of the best characters in the book?
She knew what she created in her children. And in the end there was no stopping the chain that was in motion. Almond would kill to get his way and aegon never wanted to be a king but when he was he was rash without thought.. and her daughter.. she was my favorite.. and tragic character in the series I felt terrible for her.
Alicent didn't crown him for ambition. Her father was the ambitious one. Alicent crown him for 2 reasons: If Rhaenyra's reign is questioned she would have to kill Aegon and all his male siblings in order to secure her position (how can Alicent trust Rhaenyra if everyone believes that she killed Laenor in order to marry Daemon who is extremely dangerous) 2 because the misunderstanding of the prophecy
Many of us thought that Aegon would be this story's version of Joffrey. He's much more of a relatable and sympathetic figure. We had the self awareness to know that he wouldn't make a good King. While it was forced on him, he genuinely tried to be good at it..and was met with nothing but dismissiveness or mocking by his family and the people advising him.
My Theory: Aegon hit his head as he fell & won’t remember what Aemond did. Instead he’ll believe Aemond’s Story that Meleys was the one who burned him. Aemond will arrange for Aegon to be assassinated but before it happens Aegon will call Aemond to his Bed Side and tell him he’s sorry, for almost ruining the plan at Rooks Rest & for everything he’s put him through. He will tell him he’s always known he (Aemond) was the more competent brother & that’s always made him spiteful. He then will gift Aemond Blackfyre (the Sword of Aegon the Conqueror) telling him he’s the better Swordsman so it should be his. The Kind Words & the Gift will set off a change of emotions in Aemond. He will become deeply remorseful for what he’s done & have a change of heart. In the Season Finale, when the assassination is supposed to happen Aemond will use Blackfyre & kill both assassins in a 1v2. He will then bring the Heads of the Assassins to Alicent & Aegon saying he heard them planning to Assassinate the King. This will change Aegon & Aemonds relationship to being more like the Books, where Aemond is absolutely loyal to Aegon & Aegon eventually builds a statue of Aemond after his Death.
This would be so cool!! Sometimes the show gives insight to the characters to give us a more in-deep reasoning for their actions while sometimes they make them more of a villain. I don’t agree with them making Aemond intentionally kill Aegon to have the crown, from what I’ve heard he is loyal in the books and I prefer it like that. But your theory would give us more of what they have in the books.
If you think Condal will write anything even slightly similar to the books and canon you're delusional. It's just the black propaganda show now so the greens can't have anything similar to real relationships to showcase that they're evil because Condal doesn't like them. He got rid off anything that makes Rhaenyra looks bad even Nettles😂😂 and anything that makes the greens look good like Sunfyre/Aegon bond. They have the strongest bond but we got only 10 seconds of it, while showing many scenes of rhaenyra and Syrax...
@@s1b3r11 that’s a pity. Funny thing is, even if that’s true and it’s all their intention to make us see the greens as one dimensional cruel people, I couldn’t help but begin to cheer for team green, not because I think they are the right side, nor do I think the blacks are the right side completely either, but simply because the black team scenes are so boring to me while the greens have more interesting and dynamic characters , at least that’s my opinion.
I kind of agree about the memory loss thing because in the book aegon commissions statues of aemond after his death. He wouldn’t do that if he knew what aemond done
@@anyanningsimp yeah that's kinda funny. In the books the blacks were much more interesting, complex and humane. They had negative traits and Rhaenyra wasn't a saint the show tries to make her out to be, but after reading them I was actually team black. I only changed sides after watching this biased propaganda show, where they got rid off canon events and even characters but invented new illogical made up stuff all just to make Rhaenyra look good and the greens bad because Condal decided that people are to stupid to decide who they like and have to be told that one side is good while the other is pure evil.
Seeing the skin strings being pulled off his chest reminded me of when Rowley peeled the moldy cheese off the blacktop in Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. 🤢 That Maester has the Cheese Touch!!!! 😂🤣
"These hours will be most critical" 😂Coming after the knights took their sweet ass time escorting him through the city and up the stairs to the maesters in the Red Keep
You almost feel bad for him, in the books it’s even worse, his wife never goes to see him, no one does, “awake 1 hour out of 10” for a year and no one goes to visit.
Aemond finally snapped the moment he ordered the Dracarys. Aegon’s humiliation of him in the brothel was just the tipping point, the last straw. It’s the same thing in the real world. Perfect example, road rage. What might seem trivial to you could be someone else’s breaking point.
It's the opposite dynamic of Viserys II & the threequel Aegon. As will be illustrated gradually, Viserys II's greatest job is convincing his brother to even remotely give a fuck, whereas Aemond was constantly measuring his brother's lack of ability against his own raft of political/martial talents
Ewan plays Aemond superbly! His coldness make skin freeze ...I think they make him too much of a villain as if they want us to hate him, cheer for Daemon whose role is ruined
