Yeah. From that same time, you have Alexander, The Last Samurai, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, 300, etc. Every time you turned you had one of these amazingly fun movies. Of course, they had a lot of flaws but felt so much more exciting than many modern blockbusters
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е Yeah I want to go back to the time when we history buffs could get stuff all the time. I'm watching Game of Thrones now and enjoying it but it still makes me upset that such a MASSIVE budget was spent on it when they've never invested like that recently on history films and shows.
@@acdragonrider vikings, barbarians (Netflix), the last kingdom, vikings valhalla (coming Friday)...movies: outlaw king, the king, the last duel...we have some coming back...way more than ganes of thrones lol I get ur point but if you dont know anything ur horribly misinformed and ignorant of our options so you need to do some research lol we have plenty...not all completely massive budget or historically accurate completely but good enough for us history buffs
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е if u mention 300 u should be ashamed 🤦♂️ u talk about good films but this one took the piss BIG time… wtf was the monster crap… half man half fucking crab… (if u don’t know what I’m on about I’m talking about the Persian executioner who kills the Persian commanders who fail there god king when their troops are defeated but they come back alive….. he literally has CRAB CLAWS for arms🤦♂️ THATS SHIT…. Also the hunchback…. WHAT A LOAD OF WANK THAT WAS… the real life man ONLY SUFFERED A BIRTH DEFECT… ONLY his LEFT arm was withered…. So instead of being a warrior like his dad and grandad before him he was the first of his family line to be a farmer… which he was ashamed about….. and yet those retards making the films made him an actual monster… they even comment about it saying they knew about the real life person but decided to cancel the real history and make there own as it just suited them….. 😂😂the only accuracy in the entire film was that there was fighting in it…. The other films u mentioned were pretty good though… but 300 and the second film.. while there were ok fight scenes…and while there were some good actors in both films… the films themselves sucked more than anything I’ve seen
The war is chaotic, not organized (its war, not one on one fight, its indeed cool, but like i said, its war movie, not one on one fight, its unrealistic, watch how lotr's war is being filmed, its how to film war scene), too much cut scene which make people's head hurt, and the way peoples fight is unrealistic (for example this scene 0:58, what the heck is that ? No one use sword like that in a war place. Or did you want to stab ? But why is the result is slashing ?). Come on, this is so far inferior from gladiator, brave heart, or even troy.
As much crap as this movie gets, I appreciate the effort put into it, and as a King Arthur fan, I really like the concept. It also gives me a bit of a Seven Samurai vibe.
I always loved Ganiss just leaping into the battle with nothing but a pair of kitchen knives. And if you notice at Lancelots funeral, he’s there. The guy managed to survive with no armor in a pear kitchen knives!!!
02:00 my favorite sequence of any battle movie ever. Tristan with his confident sword draw and quick dispatch of Saxons who have no idea this dude is a samurai warrior with crazy skills behind the blade. Every swing of his steel is a show of itself. Every step before a swing gives us a predisposition of a man that is not to be fkd with.
Absolutely my favourite of Arthur's knights but two minor things to correct: those were Woads (aka Picts) he was fighting at that point and I think he's meant to be more a Mongol warrior than a samurai 👍
2020 and it's still the only king arthur film that matters. If you play Crusader Kings 2. Try to identify some of the "knights" cultures. They came pretty close. And not to mention it took me over a decade to realize he screamed Rus (tribe) and not "rush". Love looking back at this movie and just wonder why remakes get it wrong.
I first saw this film when I was 13-14, and I always hated when he died. :( Felt so sorry for him when he's crawling in the grass. I just rewatched it for the first time since 2006-2007.
I love this movie. It would have been nice if they had put Artorius back in the second century when the real Lucius Artorius Castus lived (and who I personally believe was the historical King Arthur). but other than that minor criticism, its perfect.
We need films with epic battles like this again! Where are the King Arthurs, Bravehearts, Last Samurais, Troys and Jean D'Arcs? At least we got Game of Thrones with the Battle of the Bastards, but its still a different thing. Especially Braveheart, where the English Army looked so amazing. Any films you know about? Answer me guys :)
One of the best films of its time!! Underrated…., 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ Most of the cast moved on to have a very successful actor careers after this film…. One of the best battle scenes
2:02 The very best character in this whole movie Tristan was the shit after him maybe lancelot just because it was savage how he executed that guy at 2:36 and then back to Tristan at 3:14
So I have never learned about the real story but I really loved this adaption even if it's not accurate. I love the characters they are all unique and bring their own style while fighting.
Well, "Real" with huge quotation marks as there is no solid evidence of the existence of Arthur nor his knights, they were stories and legends probably based on someone else. However, there are some historical inaccuracies to be pointed out, such the Picts being called Woads; it is true that the romans called them picts because of their warpaint and tattoos, and woad is a plant they used to make their famous blue paint, but the people themselves were never called woads.
Watching King Arthur: wish the saxons loose Watching The last Kingdom: wish the saxons to win Watching Vikings: wish the saxons loose today, win tomorrow
The last scene was an alternate ending. In the actual movie, Arthur, seeing he has met his match in swordsmanship while fighting with the king of the Saxons, feigns injury , falling to his knees, and as the king raises his sword to execute him from behind, Arthur makes a backward stab with his sword into the body of the Saxon. He falls to his knees, mortally wounded, and utters the word "Arthur" before Clive Owen administers the coup de grace.
Well..at least the final fight was clearly won because of the armour 😅 It's probably the first time you can see that in a movie 😆 Little consolation, but we can say it's far above the Hollywood awful average..
Well if you watch how the knights fight. Almost every kill is done at a weak point or opening in the armor. Of at the time this is taking place the only people who had armor those who could afford it. So the Saxon king would definitely be wearing armor, most likely a mail shirt over some sort of padded clothing. And of course the knights. The Woads or Picts as they were called, actually went into battle with nothing on except the bluish tattoos on their bodies.
I'm a war history enthusiast. It's comical watching these movies and realizing how bad they are at depicting premedieval combat. Not only did post Roman Britain not have the type of carbonated steel in this movie but they also didn't have stirrups.
This is how real battles are, brutal and bloody. No fancy stunts and cheesy one liners. Notice how not a single line of dialogue is uttered throughout the entire battle
Real battles are never like this. Romans always fought in formations. It wasn't nearly as exciting as Hollywood depicts. Closest thing I can think of is Rome where everyone fights in a straight line and rotates out. If you're fighting en masse, entangled you're fucked.
3 volleys of arrow and they attacked..🤦♂️ Man I would've spent all of them and those nice trebuchets. But I love the knife charging through the smoke and turning that small group back and forth.
She's magnificent! A true Celtic warrior princess! On par with my great sister Queen Boudica of the Iceni; my ancient remembered ancestors of Brittania!!!
Everyone cuts out my favorite part of the ice scene, the very beginning of it. When the Saxons stop and test the archers and the arrows fall around 100 feet short and Arthur is basically "Tristan and Dag you're better than that" and they easily hit a couple guys. All the scenes I've found on youtube cut to just after that small interaction.
I think this swordfight between Arthur and the invader king is my favorite. Rob Roy´s final duel being a close 2nd. Both were decided by some sort of deception and downplaying what you still got in yourself. Then surprise the enemy, when he is certain of victory.
This movie was only 2 hours... it would have been 2 hour 30 minutes if they didn’t cut so much off 😑 What a disappointment. I remember as a kid watching this movie every single day... It was 10/10 now it’s 6/10
I do enjoy the fact that at the end the knights charged in with full armor. And by that i mean they at least went in with helmets on. Most times in movies that involve this sort of combat, characters always seem to take off their helmets before combat which is just a bad move lol. I know they have characters remove their helmets to better show who they are, but what I like is that each knight here had their own distinct set of armor, even helmet wise, so you still knew who was who.
The Anglo-Saxons were a confederation of the Germanic tribes of Jutes, Angles and Saxons. First came from Southern Denmark, second from Northern Germany and Frisia and third from Northwest Germany near to the Dutch border 😉 So basically, the Anglo-Saxons included at least three germanic nations 💪🏻🇩🇰🇩🇪🇳🇱
So there was the King of underwater regions who founded them. Person staying behind Anubis. - His name was hidden for thousands of years. Bringer of storms and endless life, Eunagror, Europe was named a bit similar to. Serving as center of connected to life improvements going through civilization. Like architecure improvements having connection to Highests. Etc... Eunagror. - Andkol.
Unfortunately in real life medieval times if you got pierced with a blade it was oftentimes fatal because the blade had been into hundreds of people, you died of infection.
Lol no? Jousting was a way to show of skills and to gain fame infront of the Lord or king. Plus how noble Knights or even lowly knights are better than any regular foot soldiers is the specialized training they go through. And also they fight with their own styles at times. In movies they go to show alot more than just boring historical accuracy
Dag? Jeez badass for breaking the god damn ice and charging too. That's what I call real bravery back in that age. Also at least the armor isn't freaking cut up like butter unless I wasn't paying much attention since the fighting is meh. Also I'd thought the caravan that's carrying an important bishop of Rome would've at the very least had more men not all cavalry but perhaps some infantry and auxiliary units too.
Yea 0:34 those 7 seven horses or bodyguards of artur from a turkic tribe so Clear from their helmets and body armors and numbers 3,5, 7 are important numbers for turks sembolism thats so nice seeing this sembolism in this great film thank you long live britain ! (12 and 41 also important)
I love this movie as it tells story of my ancestors. Sarmatians were ancestors of the Ukrainian people. Our kin are truly great fighters. Just when I heard one of the characters shout out Russia, I was indignant. Rus does not equal Russia. Rus is Ukraine. There is a big difference
It was a really good fighting scene last battle of the movie till you added your stuff at the end why couldn't you just waited at least after Arthur killed the Saxon King
lol that hannibal series was awfully bad.. All the time delicate cannibal cooking combined with psychological problems of Will. Got tired of that shit, fuck it.
Man, Lancelot's entrance to save Guinivere is very epic, but the director's version is better since there they show you how Lancelot sees that they are beating Guinivere and that is where he gets rid of enemies until he reaches the scene where He is on the horse to rescue her, the first version is epic but it feels very convenient and the director's version is the ideal and the one that makes that situation coherent.
We didn't forget.. back in the day, indians.Indians.. a.k.a, American, had to suffer. Geronimo was one of the few. We stood our ground. We fought and we lost. But, we still remain
