You're another who doesn't listen or pay attention to what is said. Also "The Sovereign Grant is 15-25% of the income generated from the Crown's Estate (the Crown's Estate belongs to the Monarch of the country) and therefore it is not taxpayer's money but the Crown's money. They fund themselves. The government essentially get the bigger cut of the pie from the Crown's Estate income". Pay attention and do better!
His head on stamps and its no accident that he is turning the other way. Monarchists believe he was crowned, his oath would be treasonous as his allegiance is already with the WEF and his gerry mate schwarb.
Why should someone who has more money in a year than most of the working population put together be given a pay rise when the majority of the working population are scrimping and scraping to get by?
You have to go and research more because you have no understanding of royal finances. The Crown Estate is a collection of lands and holdings in the United Kingdom belonging to the British monarch as a corporation sole, making it "the sovereign's public estate", which is neither government property nor part of the monarch's private estate. In other words, the Monarch is the custodian of the Crown's Estate property. The Sovereign Grant pays for upkeep of the historic properties within the Crown's Estate, staffing cost to run those estates as well as for State Events , and utility of royal palaces. The Sovereign Grant's money does not go into personal pocket of any of the royal family members including the Monarch. The money pay for the Crown's Estate's upkeep and the running of the Monarchical affairs. Any extra money goes into the reserve to be utilised later when in need. For example, during the pandemic, they had to draw from Sovereign Reserve as the income for Crown's Estate went down due to lack of tourism. So you are utterly wrong and misinformed.
Both himself and Camilla like luxury and a lazy life. When have we last seen Camilla? The opposite to the late Queen, can’t wait for their reign to be over.
It is not tax payer's money people. There are a lot of noise made about royals being funded by the tax payer's money when in actuality, it is not tax payer's money at all. The Sovereign Grant is 15-25% of the income generated from the Crown's Estate (the Crown's Estate belongs to the Monarch of the country) and therefore it is not taxpayer's money but the Crown's money. They fund themselves. The government essentially get the bigger cut of the pie from the Crown's Estate income and now they are going to reduce the funding to 12%. The Sovereign Grant does not fund the royals themselves but the Sovereign Grant pays for property upkeep (maintaining the historic royal palaces and castles) and utilities, state events and royal employee payroll. The working royals are funded by the Duchy of Lancaster and Duchy of Cornwall's income which are private incomes for the Monarch and the Prince of Wales respectively. Essentially, monarchy fund for itself.
Do you never actually listen to whole sentences? The taxpayer will not be donating a penny of that money. The few remaining Crown properties which are well enough run by Charles and his team generate so much annual income.... a huge part of which which goes into the national purse... our purse..... he is asking for enough BACK a. To pay his staff's salaries and b. Extra for two years to refurbish Buckingham Palace...... not because he wants to live there.... he doesn't. He would prefer to live in Clarence House . Much cosier. But the Palace is the official residence where official Head of State events are held..... like the White House in the US. It hasn't been fully refurbished since the 1950s to repair bomb damage after the war. Buck House is a HUGE earner.... it makes millions from tourists every year . In the year April 2019-April 2020 the revenue from BPal. alone was £49,859,000...... most of which goes into the tax payers purse every year. So stop complaining if our main reception building needs some serious maintenance and modernisation after 74 years. If you want to use BP as a milk cow ...occasionally you have to feed it!

45% increase to someone who has a huge property portfolio, huge wealth, did not have to pay inheritance tax etc so surely the 6% the government offered everyone else should have been the amount.
Only unelected Royals and their corporate and banking Zio class enablers really matter in Britain. The rest can go play with the traffic at Hyde Park Corner at 8.30am on a monday morning.
It does. The revenue from the Crown Estate goes to the overnment of the day, and a percentage of that money is then handed back as the Sovereign Grant.

Educate yourself! The profits from the Crown Estate go to The Treasury ( the tax payers purse ) The grant paid to the Royal Family is calculated as a proportion of those profits from the ‘Crown Estate’. So it is NOT a money paid for by us!! While the figure is reviewed every five years, the Sovereign Grant is normally calculated at 15% of the crown estate profits. That means that we get 85% into the taxpayers purse. Buck House alone raised about £45 Million in revenue from tourism in 2020. In addition Charles has signed deals at Xmas for the wind farms on Crown Property ( on off shore sites granted to the Crown by the Gov. when Tony Blair was PM) so that the profits won't go to the Royal Family but will be used to benefit the wider population of the country. His decision! They will generate 1 billion in revenue which he is directing back to the Treasury and they will power 22,000 homes! He did they before he was even crowned. What a damned cheek to say he doesn't care!!
The comparison between the costs of the head of state in the US and UK is flawed. California's economy alone surpasses that of the entire UK. Unlike the UK, the US taxpayer does not have to pay for both a head of state and a Prime Minister. The media creates an illusion that the tax-paying public can challenge the King's demands, but that can only happen if we transition to a republic from a constitutional monarchy.

The royal family should be privatised. Loads of firms would invest in it. Then the second house and head of state should be elected democratically. We need to fully modernise our constitution now ready for the new technological age.
Start by letting the Monarch have his Crown Estate privately and then he could do that just fine. His "wage increase" after all is just an increase in what he receives from his own estate.
@@andyb619The crown estate is not, nor has it ever been the private property of the royals. Why should they be entitled to a penny of its income, let alone all of it?
@@Fordnan It was originally the private property of George III before it became the Public Property of the British Monarchy. It's basically a estate that contributes to tax revenue for the public good and pays for the British Monarchy (instead of the tax payer).
@@andyb619 No, it was *never* the private property of any monarch. It *was* the private property of Saxon land owners until taken as loot by William the conqueror in 1066, but it was only ever used to finance affairs of state. Upon abolition of the monarchy, the crown estate lands return to the state. The same is true of the duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster.
So it’s headlined as a pay hike/increase but it’s not pay for the monarchy! Mmmmmm? Call it what it is then….refurbishment costs. If we have a head of state we need to pay for the privilege to keep in a high status lifestyle whilst those expected to pay for increases barely earn enough to cover their own bills are told to accept these things…mmmmmm… hardly a great argument to stay royalist is it?
No, I don’t think in this day and age when we all have to tighten our belts , that so much money can be shelled out on the royal family - just cut down on the waste, unfortunately, it’s them !
As I remember, the late Queen started paying taxes on her income (she previously was exempt). As I remember, Charles was also paying tax on the Duchy of Cornwall.
I thought he wanted to downsize. But he’s letting public pay for unnecessary expenses. When can Charles could very well pay him self. And he has the nerve to try and Kick his brother Andrew out of his home, when he’s been there 20 years, his mother bequeathed him that residence. He has 75 year lease. What a tight wad. He’s a phony. I don’t like this royal couple. If Charles wants to cut down on expenses, it’s not by laying people off, putting them out of work, not saving anybody any money. Why is royal lodge so important now. It’s been a normal home for twenty years. King just out to keep punishing his brother. He’s like Harry can’t get over the” handsome prince “ maybe the Queen had more time with him when she was setting in as monarch. Charles should pay at least part of expenses. Especially travel. If he wants to show examples. . He doesn’t have to kick a relative out of his home. We know all the mistakes he and Camila made. People forgave. He should do same for family members. Maybe he will be a good monarch. I don’t mean disrespect. I’m Canadian, but he could very well lose Commonwealth countries. Australia already cancelled commonwealth games. They won’t put Charles on their bills. I still want Queen on our Bills, like John A McDonald. Etc. He has not started on the right foot. Started to clean house right away which o thought insensitive. His son running rampant, no stripped titles. They don’t need that much of a raise. I admire royalties and realise there are expenses, I understand 45 percent to high. I just hope things get better with this King, so far I’m not impressed. But he deserves a chance, he made mistakes, maybe he will get better.
We had a revolution, and stupidly decided to reinstate the monarchy. I can't swallow any of the specious arguments made by Michael Cole. Edward VII was a suspect for being Jack the Ripper. What an example for Cole to quote as an example for a short reign.
Huh? Charles is bumbling badly even though he had a lifetime to prepare. I predict an abdication within 5-7 years, using "health" (of the Queen, most likely) as the excuse. But the real reason will be some inevitable fatal misstep.
"You have to understand the palace needs to be refurbished"... How is that an excuse? When do I send the bill to tax payers to burry my mum, or to refurbish my house?! This guys makes 80+ million a year, just pay it yourself!!!!!!!!!!
"If you have a head of state, you've got to maintain them in the right and proper manner. It's as simple as that." Sixteen grand a year and a one bedroom in Luton.
We Americans "Have Joe Biden" in order to pass regulations, laws, and oversee our programs, not to garden at Highgrove, cut ribbons and live in insulting opulence. Bit of a distinction you missed there.
If he cared about the taxpayer, he would pay inheritance tax like the rest of us. He shouldn’t even own the crown estate, it belongs to the British people.
No way. Our taxes should be going on the people of this country. We are all struggling. Look after the veterans, who fought for the UK. Put up more affordable housing for the not so well off. Millions going on immigrants, who have not paid one penny into the system. This country has become corrupt and power hungry. We must look after our own, the RF are not going hungry or cold, why should we?
Well said. People go on about how wonderful the queen was - the media just didn't publicise her antics. The queen pleaded poverty last time all these 'repairs' were deemed necessary. The government of the day rolled over and diverted hundreds of millions from public services to fund her. How did she use the money? She invested it in private property. By the way, neither parliament nor the press are able to know their financial means because they have exempted themselves from anti-corruption laws. I'm sure there's an innocent explanation for that, though...
