KC is hugely under rated. The guy has so much emotion in his vocal, he's a true story teller of the highest order. He's an incredible conveyor of a song and undoubtedly one of the greatest singer songwriters we have ever produced.
Some Dug Then you should listen to The Barra MacNeils singing "My Heart's in the Highlands". I'm not Scottish and I've never been to Scotland, but regardless, that one makes me weepy and longing for the land.
I'm listening to this outside my house in Argyll, watching a stunning sunset over Dunadd Hill, ancient home of the Kings of Dalriada.....as the mist rises in the Glen. A perfect little moment.
King Creosote made this love note to Scotland in 2014, during the referendum. Uniquely among artists in Scotland, he then came out strongly against Scottish independence. None of the pro-independence nobodies could dream about making something as poetic and true to Scotland as this. He's a gem of a guy and an artist.
Never heard of this singer till yesterday when watching From Scotland With Love and just had to look into the music side of it - it was so very special!
poking around prime on a Sunday afternoon, what a fabulous piece of work! I caught myself brimming with tears several times. Thank you all for putting this together.
What a beautiful piece of film - making me feel all nostalgic even though I am not from Glasgow nor was I even born at that time! Move over Rabbie Burns - Scotland has a new King to wear your vacant crown. Even the coldest of hearts couldn't resist melting to this.
How life has dramatically changed since this time, always think it is a shame how many has created a new world to what was a time of happiness and hope, everyone at that time didn't care what they looked like, what they wore or how much money they had, as long as they had each other they were happy. Makes me think how this new world era is not what it should been and what it should have been, thank you to reality television, politics and jugmental opinions, you've really done us proud! Peace out to all in From Scotland With Love you are all people to be remembered!x
Only just heard this on BBC Scotland last night. Don't think I've ever heard this band before. Why that is, I simply do not know, because this is the most beautiful song I have heard for a long time.
The Lyrics Dreaming without sleeping it's morning are you leaving but our story It has only begun And are you willing it to end (Chorus) you promised me a feeling something to believe in you promised me a feeling now you promised to be real Like so everyone can see :)
love that song. its sounds melancolic but not negative. its unique and realy special. dont know any other song who would give me similar feelings. i visit scotland 1-2x a year and listen to it every time in the plane or in the car :) it makes it perfect. when I'm listen to it back home, its like I'd be in the highlands for a moment. dont know why :)
This is sheer genius. It is sheer genius because of how it continues the mood and action from one clip to another which could be decades apart in another town. From black and white to colour, you could be panning right on a sullen industrial Clyde in the 30's to looking down a delapidated tenement street the 50's, in colour with kids playing happily and a girl crossing the road at an angle and reaching the other side as a lady in Dundee, continuing the shot and pan to a happy crowd doing happy things which could be in colour or black and white and might even be the 70'sor Edwardian Era. And it all bloody well fits!
I loved the film From Scotland with love, the way it was filmed, the colour, the editing & of course the sympathetic delicate deep & beautifully crafted music. A perfect collision òf two different art forms that enhanced both and film as well. Nice one K.C. p.s, say hello next time you bump into the sunshine band. X
Voice takes on the images of waterside, and tongue bridges. King Creosote drives this track with such powerful control, and emotion. The diction, and unique drive of the instrumentation meeting that steering pearly voice is salt to the gold to the black of soothing.
So I am going to give myself a slap on the back!! I have got two pals in the USA converted to King Kenny. Partly on the back of this soundtrack and getting them to watch the film!! I play the CD often and am eagerly awaiting the DVD (just in case streaming fails).
viewed film this music was soundtrack it was hauntingly beautiful ThanKx made me so proud to be Scottish!! just a shame this generation are so lazy and greedy 2022.
Great wee song. Really touches my heart, reminds me of the relationship with my partner in the beginning.. You promised me a feeling Now promise to be real..
I know that times were hard, But I'd love to live in the Scotland of the 50s & 60s instead of the country we have now which is so full of hate and mistrust. I'm not a fan of this modern world and maybe I'm just pining for the carefree days of my youth.
Dreaming without sleeping It's morning are you leaving? But our story it has only begun And are you willing it to end? You promised me a feeling Something to believe in You promised me a feeling Now promise to be real
Once heard, these songs stay with you forever. Seven years after first hearing this song, it still haunts me. The video in the link below is my opportunity to thank Kenny for the inspiration he has given me in documenting the lives of a group of his fellow Fifers, standing for something they believe in. ❤️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x6hnag3AcMU.html
Well, maybe these bands aren't exactly like King Creosote but..here goes, The Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd, The Arkells, A day in the life(this is a song), becoming a jackal(song), Stairway To Heaven(song), Hotel California(Song), mad world(song) and i can't think of any other ones haha, hope i gave you at least one song or band you'd like.
JJbeast101 I know most of those songs/artists! They're all great, I know, but nothing sounds like this record here. It is really, reeeeeally deep. It's hard to find things like this one.
