King Crimson "Epitaph" The wall on which the prophets wrote Is cracking at the seams Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams Will no one lay the laurel wreath When silence drowns the screams Confusion will be my epitaph As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Between the iron gates of fate The seeds of time were sown And watered by the deeds of those Who know and who are known Knowledge is a deadly friend If no one sets the rules The fate of all mankind, I see Is in the hands of fools The wall on which the prophets wrote Is cracking at the seams Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams Will no one lay the laurel wreath When silence drowns the screams? Confusion will be my epitaph As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Crying Crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes, I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Crying😮
One of the best voices in absolute by itself. Thanks a lot and much more, Greg, for making me grow and feel music with your extraordinary and Paradisiac never ending talent. Rest in Peace, and sing for us all and our souls. And, if you are able to, help us in finding Peace on Earth, please, at last.
when I first heard Greg Lake sing this 52+ years ago the lyrics applied to the times, and now it applies even more now. Knowledge is a deadly friend and our fate is definitely in the hands of fools!!!
Confusion is My Epitaph Greg Lake singing this sends chills through me since I 1st listen to this I was in Junior High 44 yrs ago Thank God I witnessed them playing it Live several times.I miss all the great music from then.
Greg was oh so talented. I am sorry I missed seeing him live . I was upset when I heard he died. But I have pristine Court of the Crimson king and ELP..... Bravo!!!
When i heard this song for the 1st time, was back in Angola, around the summer of 1973 with my best friend Paulinho “envergonhado” on a beautiful beach, Baia Azul…today i just saw videos of him in the hospital getting ready to go to the other side….i’m totally devastated because he his my best friend for life, more than a brother…save my live quite a few times from criminals, after the war in Angola, when we moved to Lisbon, Portugal, i had to live on the streets of Europe with just my clothes, one harmonica, a cassete player, and drawing paper with a chinese black ink pen to draw my feelings…but every thief want to rob me and kill me…but, i’m alive today because of him…i know that he’s leaving this life between now and next days🙏🏼😪R.I.P. my angel friend…you live life to the fullest and always with a smile… i’m glad i had a chance to talk to you 2 weeks ago in march 16, all day on that Wednesday…we both talked about the great times we had back in Africa…have a great trip to a peaceful place Paulinho…you’re my Angel on this earth and you always be my best friend in life…i wish that you could stay here for a while, but destiny its our life…Love you brother…you know that your wife, 2 daughters and all the grand kids really Love u…until than, you’re on all our hearts ♥️ and already miss your smile and great energy 🙏🏼😪
I saw them in 1971 with Black Sabbath plus Alvin Lee and 10 years after. It was amazing! I think the tickets cost me and my future hubby $4.50 each cause we wanted floor seats. We would go to a concert back then at least once a month. Those were some great times. We saw so many great bands. Fast forward to today…I’m still married to that man and its so nice being able to share those great music memories of those special times😎
Song Composed year 1968, This song is for those generations born during End Times that will experience the WW3 World War 3, they just crying for the War. First End Time Song. Second is Think about the time, Ten year after band.
Yes i already been crying and i thought that was just a song... You see when knowledge is in the hands of fools, whoever they are , the possibility is just to cry and say , I've done the best i could.. ! If not then I go down with all of us, together.! Nothing worst.! Let it be.!
R.I.P. Greg Lake. What a talent. The Voice, Outstanding Prophetic Lyrics and Great Bassist. King Crimson and ELP. Miss him too much. This song Epitaph and In The Wake of Poseidon are Epic and Beautifully Sung by Greg Lake.
I saw this fabulous song played live and sung by Greg Lake in the late seventies or early 80s at the EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall in Akron Ohio was one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life oh and did I mention that it was King Crimson and Emerson Lake and Palmer just ask and ye shall receive
Epitafium ...I live, spokój wieczny,po wyznaniu najcichszym, ujarzmieniu złośnicy, konsumpcji związku a nawet po słowie przed stwórca.Wieczna nirwana.A ona dalej będzie tam po prawej stała i Chrisa Rea słuchała w temacie "Josephin"
I am 65 and this song reminds me the time when I was a student, good fucking times, lots of vodka, women and wild parties! N Er, greetings from Canada!
Oh my what a beautiful job! The sound is the best I’ve ever heard (poor me?), the art is sadly and beautifully en pointe and the Greek script (none of which I understand) is lovely. All well deserved by this prog masterpiece. Thank you, Christos Kiritsis, for this amazing video.
I'm still searching who is the cover band behind the voice of Greg Lake because as it has already been noticed THIS NOT NOT THE ORIGINAL. They did a great job...
"Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams. When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams," ...... "Knowledge is a deadly friend If no one sets the rules. The fate of all mankind I see Is in the hands of fools." ....... "But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying, Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying. Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Crying.. Crying..." ....... "Confusion will be my epitaph." ....that's i'm so sad...
This song together with the end of the doors, child in time by purple and July morning by Heep, (truth and how many hundreds more..), must be saved forever. When the end of this world comes, these songs will help the new species for something other than what the planet earth experienced....
Dainese Aldo.

A few years ago I attended an unforgettable Emerson-Lake concert. Greg talked about how he first composed "Lucky Man" after he got his first guitar at age 12 (I think ). When they were working on the ELP album they were short about 5 minutes. He played Lucky Man for E and P. At first E didnt seem enthusiastic but then he developed the moog parts. Of course it was a great hit!
