@@Acacius1992 what you mean he got a main hero role of brawl. Instead of being known as the smash bros with campy top tiers its known for meta knight. Rather take that then the first one any day of the week
@@thyduke3010 Okay you are not wrong But i mean more like that he will be if they ever made a Story Mode like Subspace emisarry/world of light, it would be cool if Meta Knight would be the Main hero there :D
King Dedede was the real hero of the story, he planned for the exact moment everybody would be wiped out, if it weren’t for him, Tabuu would have consumed all the worlds.
But you have to love his courage and confidence in brawl, he made these badges without fully knowing if they would work and tried to find and save as many people as he could anyways. Even when Ness and Luigi woke him up he didn't even hesitate to go fight, he pointed them all straight into the battle to save the worlds. This means that even though he knew that he had next to no chance of this plan actually working and for them to defeat a (pretty much) god, he still decided to try his best, showing no fear the entire time. Gotta love this mad lad penguin.
Just realised that when dedede was looking for a third badge, he ended up giving the one he had for himself so he wouldn't be a trophy, to peach, man he is just so adorable
Demons with Cat Ears idk why people can even call him a villain, or even an anti-hero. Dude sacrificed himself for someone he didn’t even know. He didn’t even trophy her, he just found her already trophied. It’s such a selfless act. Dedede is truly a good penguin.
@@kayleighbrown459 not so far. He isnt really a hero but hes not bad hes the perfect example of a hero that doesnt follow the good hero example... an antihero
Are we just gonna ignore how Mario missed Luigi when Dedede was driving away but instead had his eyes on Peach and prioritized his girlfriend over his own brother? Violation of the bro code, Mario. Not cool.
@@tanall5959 and also, peach is the one who gets captured more often than not. he probably trusted luigi enough to assume that he'd be able to escape on his own.
@@ShadowSorel And Luigi has a nemesis of his own too (King Boo), which that makes Luigi is really no push-over, so Mario must at least believe that Luigi can move on and fight with his courage.
Dedede wasn't really being a villain here at all. He was trying to save those he could save. Dedede didn't steal Wario's vehicle for his own selfish gain.
PhilPower134 He was turning people into trophies so they would stay safe until the subspace eventually swallowed everything up and then they could be revived.
Sol Kim Well context clues, King dedede is naturally a selfish asshole and does things for his own pleasure. And seeing that he had dusted off luigi and also set up peach, luigi, and ness in his castle thingy (and also decorated them with badges of his face) shows that he wanted to collect the trophies as his own prizes.
Dedede is'nt really like that only in the very first kirby game was dedede hostile in the later games he's always possessed in some way or another he's more of a gullable guy. Also he would know that those badges would activate so if he really was going to collect everybody then he wouldn't put on the badges in the first place. In In the anime he's a giant asshole but in general he's not written or developed that way.
I just realized that Dedede was only K.O.ing people into trophy form (Luigi) to save them with his badges later! He even took off his own badge to save Peach! GOD I love this character!
Lucas had a full on arc. And even Bowser had some development. He was a big bad for most of the game but when they met Tabuu, he was betrayed by Ganondorf and sent into a blind fury. After getting some sense knocked into him, he chose to fight along side the heroes
He was only doing all that bad stuff because he thought it was master hand telling him to do it. He is incredibly loyal to Master Hand, and decided to fight back upon realizing that he was dead. If anything, he was the most justified out of the 3 for doing what he did.
Kirby characters are by far the best in Brawl Kirby, Meta Knight and Dedede’s role in Subspace are by far the most important, without one of them, Tabuu would probably turned everyone into trophies Also, we have Kirby receiving a very significant improvement from his bottom tier spot, DDD being a very, very formidable character, and Meta Knight, well truly earned his title as the greatest warrior in the entire Smash history, shows how much love Sakurai have to his characters in brawl
honestly in this game, dedede just looks so wholesome. he is super fleshed out and Sakurai makes it very obvious he isn't really a bad guy. this is awesome
So basically if you're confused. Dedede somehow knew Tabuu could turn fighters into trophies and created the Dedede badges, which could somehow un-trophy fighters in their frozen forms. He spends most of the game collecting trophied fighters to add to the fight against Tabuu. He only ends up with Luigi and Ness, and Kirby ends up swallowing the third badge that fell off Zelda/Peach, which gets him revived later on. Thanks to Dedede, you are able to spend all of Subspace reviving the fighters Tabuu turned into trophies. Why Tabuu can't just trophy wave them again, I don't know. Why Tabuu can't trophy wave them again instead of creating the Great Maze, I don't know. I also don't know why Dedede couldn't have just told the fighters about his plan, that way there could have been better cooperation instead of relying on partial luck for the plan to work. Still, Dedede appearing to be the antagonist only to turn out to be well-intended is obviously nothing new and has been around since Dedede's earliest appearances. So that's neat that they transitioned it over.
Tabuu set up the Great Maze after turning everyone into trophies, basically a barrier so he wouldn’t have to waste more energy. Then Sonic destroys Tabuu’s wings, taking away his ability to trophy his enemies in one wave.
Yeah. They really portrayed each character very well in the story. I hope Smash Ultimate brings this back, then we'd pretty much have the most in a Smash game we could ask for.
If Tabuu were trying to protect himself with the Great Maze, then why would he create stairs leading straight into it? Seems like a false sense of security if you ask me.
WAIT KIRBY CHARACTERS Meta knight: without him nobody Can conduce the Halbard King dedede: is not a bad guy he saves a few of fighters and he collab tho defeat tabuu Kirby: in the world of light he is the the one who survived lumina light beams And save the world So basically Kirby characters are most importants in the history modes
I really like how in the fight with Bowser, you can only play as Dedede, showing that Dedede refuses to let Ness and Luigi come in harms way after they saved him
In hindsight, it’s interesting to see the many ways that Dedede’s plan was nearly ruined. For example, if Bowser had found Luigi and Ness alongside Peach/Zelda when he raided the castle. They would have ended up on the Halberd and would have been revived by Meta Knight, Lucario and Snake. They probably would have disposed of the badges that Dedede pinned on them. They would have been wiped out alongside everyone else by Tabuu and there would have been no-one left.
to be fair, dedede's seen a lot worse than bowser lmao. i imagine a big fire breathing turtle is like baby stuff when you're used to eldritch horrors targeting your world (and sometimes your body) on a weekly basis.
From what I've heard, there was a scrapped cutscene showing how the Halberd was taken over as King Dedede was the cause of Meta Knight not being able to rebel against his ship being attacked. Which means Dedede obviously knew what was going on, hence why he supplied Luigi, Ness and Peach/Zelda a timed badge incase the world was taken over by Tabuu. The real saviour of this story was not Sonic, but Dedede, who was the main reason everyone was bought back to life and able to fight Tabuu.
6:05 This is adorable. You can really see that Kirby and Dedede have no real animosity to one another and usually really good friends. Why do you think he's almost never the final boss in a Kirby game, but rather helping him through much of it?
@@gdoinksold8447 The first one. Emphasis on that. After this stunt, he at least tries to do good deeds. Sealing Nightmare away by breaking the Star Rod, or keeping Dark Nebula sealed away in the chest. Too bad he never tries to take time to *explain* to Kirby/any other heroes what his plans are, so instead he gets beat up over a misunderstanding.
@@scopicaplaysYes, but he's also the final boss in Dream Course and also one of the episodes in Superstar. But yeah, they are just rivals, and usually pretty friendly rivals. If Bowser is maybe 10% good, Dedede is probably 90% good.
@@Eragarev There's no true villian among Bowser and Dedede, all they do is making their career come true. Bowser wants to control the mushroom kingdom and marry princess Peach, Mario is a thorn in his side in this case. Dedede only wants to own a kingdom and enjoy the authority, but some of his selfish thought will cause bad result lead to Kirby beat him up. If there are other crises that threaten the world, both of them will not reject to co-op with the heros. So I would say they are the same. Maybe Ganon is more evil than them.
@@EragarevIf you want to count Kirby's Avalanche, then go ahead - but that game is basically a big giant tournament arc in order to justify making a Kirby-themed Puyo skin.
Dedede was potrayed so well in this, just like in the games, dedede comes off as a a villain but is really just trying to do the right thing. Now if only yoshi/mario got the same treatment, seriously why did yoshi/mario blindly attack each other? You'd think after knowing each other for so long they would have let the other explain themselves, especially when zelda is the one who's thought to be dead since yoshi isn't the one who really knew zelda
The Peach being thought to be dead route makes more sense. Mario attacks Link since he's the one who seems to finish off "Peach" and since Yoshi knows her too it's like he wanted to explain what really happened, but Mario is too enraged to listen to reason, so he feels the need to get involved
Maybe they wanted to be sure that the other wasn’t a traitor, so they decided to fight and they would get their answer if they died but were revived by the other.
Dedede: THAT MONSTAH HAS BEEN TERRORIZING US FOR FAR TOO LONG Escargoon: IF ANYONE CAN BEAT IT THAT'S YOU SIRE! Dedede: I'LL KICK DAT KERBEH TO DA CURB Escargoon: WE'RE RIGHT BEHIND YOU MAJESTY, YOU'RE A HERO TO US ALL! Dedede: NOW COME ON LIL' OL' ME A HERO SURELY YOU JESTIN'
Action Adventure you gotta see! On your channels made for Dedede! The prices are right and I’m sure you agree, the prices are right and you watch ‘em for free!
He seems like a misguided anti-hero or a person who uses a more extreme approach to solve problems. He has show some level of bad but it usually comes down to perspective. How do you explain to a enraged Mario that you can save people with these badges when you have his brother and princess in the back of your stolen ride. Dedede takes big measures like taking the star rod to stop an absolute demon at the trade off of people’s sleep probably because he saw in his eyes that if not breaking the star rod there would be worse outcomes.
Dedede: the only character who truly acted like himself, instead of a cardboard cut out... I wish Olimar had the same treatment. He was literally the most useless character in Subspace Emissary.
To be fair it's difficult to fully flesh out every single character in Subspace because of how many there are. The only ones with decent personalities and arcs are Dedede and R.O.B. and that's only because they played a huge role in the plot. At least Olimar actually did something. All the Ice Climbers did before they got picked up with everyone else was climb a mountain.
Luigi was pretty spot on as were the rest of the subspace characters (Bowser, Kirby, Dedede, Ness and the little we see of Sonic) but I do see your point with others
Top characters 3: lucas and his arc 2: rob DARN HIS DEATH WAS SO SAD! 1: dedede the mastermind that could by he on his own make a plan to counterattack tabbo

*__* King Dedede learns of Tabuu’s true nature and the power of his Off Waves during the taking of the Halberd. He begins to worry what will happen once all of the fighters are turned into trophies. Once that happens, there will be no one left to restore the frozen heroes, and the world as we know it will end by Tabuu’s hand. So he develops a special brooch. The brooches are set to work on a timer; when the timer runs down, the brooch will restore a fighter from his or her trophy form back to the original form. All you need to do is set the brooch on a hero that had been turned into a trophy and leave it there. When King Dedede learns that Bowser and Wario have joined the Subspace Army and are turning fighters into a collection of trophies, he decides to start his own collection. He hides the fighter trophies he collects in his castle, thinking the brooches will bring them back eventually if something goes wrong, but... He ends up using the brooch he had made for himself on Peach (or Zelda), and intends to make another one for himself later. *_Tabuu (Wings)_* Tabuu with wings extended. The dreadful energy surges cast from these wings instantly turn all fighters back into trophies. Knowing this, King Dedede assembles all able-bodied troops and sets a timed device on each of them. This device is a brooch that, after the designated time runs out, revives all fighters wiped out by Tabuu. As a kid, I always thought the reason Dedede looked down at the badge on his chest that way was just a gag about how sticky they were. I didn't realize he was actually planning on sacrificing himself for Peach/Zelda and believed he was just annoyed.
DDD went from a selfish villain in Kirby’s Dream Land into a wholesome anti hero who does something bad with good intention so he can protect everyone from Nightmare and Tabuu. This game is what further develops DDD into not just an anti hero, but an actual hero in the future games, as it shows how much DDD actually cares about the world, he’s willing to do anything to help Kirby save the world if he can. Dedede is hands down the best character portrayed in this game!
Susie: how can I help you, King Dedede? King Dedede: I NEED A KIRBY TO HELP ME CLOBBEH DAT DERE TABUU! Magolor: that's what us dream friends do best at in the Dream Palace.. Ness: you better count on is to take Tabuu down garentee!
Can we just talk about how *well* these cutscene are done for the W I I ? ! Also I swear, Dedede is more wholesome than Kirby 89% of the time. I believe, with the badges, that Dedede had only taken their trophies to protect them, and the badges would activate, if needed (which, spoiler alert, they were needed). Everyone else is just a jerk, meanwhile Dedede out here thinking about others lives.
I love how in pretty much every game he's in, King Dedede's always been an anti-hero (With the exclusion of the first Kirby game). All of his actions made him seem like he was just causing trouble, but he's constantly been worried about the well-being of the world, whether it be Nightmare Wizard or Tabuu, Triple D has always had the best of intentions. The protagonists just don't learn about it until it's usually too late.
Triple D stole my heart with his big hammer, great personality and the fact he only acted like a villian at first to disguis his real ententions in the end.
0:03 Was this a Luigi's Mansion theme remix made only for this cutscene? Brawl has a Luigi's Mansion theme remix, but it doesn't sound like this, and all the other songs are reused from Brawl's gameplay modes.
