Another episode showcasing the Victorian High Country as we explored the King Basin and camped at King Hut Campground north of the Buller and Stirling peaks. Nestled along the more rugged southern part of the King Valley, we entered from Merrijig via Buttercup Road. We climbed Mount No.3 which offers epic views over Mansfield to the West before heading back down Weston Track to King Basin Road. Skipping Pineapple Flat, we arrived at King Hut finding it was just us and one other vehicle. We crossed 2 cattle grid river crossings after the cattle gate; and then a plethora of river crossings before hitting the Hut. The next morning we ventured up to Stirling via Craig's Hut (please see a more in-depth video of Craig's Hut recorded a few months earlier) and then the beautiful drive through Clear Hills snow gum riddled trail. We ended at Howqua Gap Hut and then proceded to Buller Village via Corn Hill Road. You can access King Hut with a 2wd from Speculation Track but definitely not something to consider coming the other side. Enjoy.
