Damn it i have an old videotape from the 80's (only this type of music) and i saw this video, i've searched it for 10 years, and man, it was all worth the wait... :D
I've seen the video to this song on VH1 Classic's "Metal Mania" back in around 2003-ish and it was a great song, this song should have been better known.
@lacika67 Well, you'll probably be happy to know then that free returned to music about 4 years ago, but on a smaller scale, reuniting with Unruly Child & doing background vocals on Harry Hess' solo album. Leaving music was Free's decision, btw, as he/she was going through some personal crisis at the time, including with gender, plus a failed marriage and feuding with Unruly Child guitarist Bruce Gowdy and I think addiction was another thing Free mentioned in an interview in 2010-2011.
This was originally recorded by Spectre General and appeared on the animated Transformers movie soundtrack (it's the track that plays when Hotrod and Kup are fed to the Sharkticons on Quintessa).
Yes I know that is Carmine on the drums and he can really play them can,t he .He is our legendary drummer and along with Dino Danelli of the Young Rascals and many other bands .
I had a Metal compilation with White Sister, ICON (or was it "IKON) and these guys on it! In fact, this track was on the compilation! Got it for a Buck! (ah, the days of the "Cut-Out Bin"!)
@dominp It wasn't because of legal problems. Hasbro deemed the band's name of Kick Axe to be too violent for the kid's cartoon, so they changed their name to Spectre General
Thats funny, I got the same comp cassette for about a buck or 2 (w/a couple other '$1 a tape" hair metal comps) from a small town gas station on a family vacation to WV about 20 yrs ago..listened to it about 1000 times over the yrs cuz of this song ,it finally wore out and I dont know what happened to it. Just saw the video for this song (best one on the comp) about 3 yrs ago on VH1..TG for youtube now!
I thought this was the original! I like this version better than the one from the Transformers SDTRK. I mean, I love that one, too. I just love this a whole lot more.
@Caleb2296 How can anybody think that? Oh, I don't know. Maybe because Kick Axe actually wrote it and George Criston is an amazing singer. Somebody needs to do their homework. Vices is one of the great metal records of the '80s.
@rockladyful totally agree baddass song, It's been awhile since I've checked out some King Kobra, didn't know that Mark Free became a woman Crazy! still kicks ass
@ThatWasPrettyFunny - True, in fact I help I can't help but think Ben Stillers team 'Purple Cobras' was parody of King Kobra all the way form King Kobra purple highlights in their hair to the ridiculous hair.
This band went on to become Bullet Boys with a different singer and drummer. The singer did in fact go on to have a sex change. The drummer.... the famous Carmine Appice.... went on to form Blue Murder with John Sykes (Whitesnake)and Tony Franklin. (Power Station)
@Caleb2296 Well, we'll just agree to disagree. Vices to me is a classic while Ready to Strike is only ok. I will say this though, Ready to Strike shits all over King Kobra's follow-up, which is horrible. At least Ready to Strike was somewhat heavy.
