hey man! thanks for watching. I guess you saw the video in the summer when I first picked this up, damn, took me like half a year to unbox it, lol. Tuning these is quite easy, most important thing is to start from the factory settings (in the manual). Then just adjust your low speed until the idle is nice and low. Ideally you would want a live RPM guage, like I use to give you a readout of RPM.

@@hybrid32494 I did watch all your videos but it took awhile to start. It’s missing the main drive gear sprocket. The rear wheels would not spin. I emailed KM hopefully they overnight the parts I need.

I always wanted a KM too, i should have unboxed this a while ago. Really nice features for the money and perfect al laround really. Probably that dual exhaust is not the best, but at least it's protected well and looks clean.

Ye man, compared to the original real hpi Baja's today's clones like Rovan or King Motors will blow them away in both specs and price, and reliability too. I mean you saw my basic 30.5CC baja clip in this video, what more could you ask for, and that was like a low 400's purchase price baja, you know. hey man! I highly recommend you monitor your engine temps and amount of exhaust. A lean engine will have a small amount of visible smoke coming out and you will be tuning hot. It's best to find the carb's stock needle setting in a manual online and rebut it to factory. Then adjust from there. A lean engine should tend to over rev itself and produce very little exhaust smoke. let me know.

Hey dude. Good question, the km suspension actually works. Lol. I know what you mean. All the rovan shocks are super tough and barely conpress on their own. This one is actually smooth, thats why i moved it with my hands.

Hey buddy, whats up!! Can you tell me if its starting and idling correctly? Can you describe what sounds weird to you, ill try to diagnose it. Btw, make sure to check your carb setting from the factory. I always close both needles snd then turn them out to factory specs, should be in the manual. Let me kno.

@@hybrid32494 Ok so I'm following the instructions for breaking the engine in I adjust the carb to factory settings and I'm making minor adjustments but for some strange reason I don't have the low speed I have to pull the trigger almost half way for the buggy to move

sup bro. I highly recommend you get yourself a cheap 20 dollar RPM gauge to use with these models, I've show the RPM in some vids. This is how it works, these cars have an 8,000 RPM red clutch spring. So basically you need to give it some good throttle before the clutch grabs. I was surprised by this at first also. It's weird to hear it go to 8K RPM before it even grabs. This is normal. But you can confirm with an RPM gauge. These engines top out at around 17,500 RPM btw. Also make sure your remote throttle trim is set normally, it could be too low and this required you to pull the trigger more than needed.

hey bro! It's not much of a difference. King Motors is generally a bit more money because they offer more upgrades on their models, compared to the cheaper Rovan models. Otherwise they are identical, just like they are the same as any real HPI baja. IT comes down to price and features. The KM is always a little more bling, you know.

hey bro!! Yes, many old school Gas rc guys use motorcycle racing oil, as long as it's a 2-stroke oil you're fine. In fact many of the brands of oils used in these Rcs are also sold in motorcycle stores.

It's mostly true because even used destroyed ones sell for around 3-400 bucks. So you'de be getting a top dawg model for the low 500's.

hey bro! I never actually ran this particular baja, I wound up doing an unboxing and then focusing on some other nitros I had at the time. But I can tell you the build quality is impeccable and considering it's a much nicer ROVAN than I own I will still say you really dont need any upgrades.

hey man, thanks for watching. How much space are you talking about? These are pretty large cars and need a good amount of room for braking and turning overall. If you normally run 1/10 scales in that area, this would probably be too large. Generally all the Baja models from Rovan, King motors, and HPI drive similar, only prices and features set them apart. let me know.

oh ye, then you'l be perfect bro. Well you only other 1/5 scale alternative would be a 4WD gas RC, and the cheapest 4WD you will find will cost about 2-3 times the price of a baja like this. And I don't recommend redcat. Based on price alone I'd say the minor draw backs of a baja chassis are worth it. you're gonna have fun!!

hey buddy! congrats of the REVO pickup, it's one of my fav nitros out there. Would you say you see a bunch of oil and smoke come out of the pipe while you're starting it? The good thing is it starts, the rest we can work on. Try to give it some throttle when you remove the ez-start wand, it should run when you give 20-30% throttle. DO this, then let me know. Usually the Idle is set too low and the engine could cut out, or the High speed needle is set too rich.

hybrid32494 when I hit the throttle it emitted a LOT of blue smoke, and the truck would try to move forward on its own and when I picked the truck up off the ground the wheels would spin very fast, the engine would cut off shortly after I stopped pulling the throttle

@@4PFHarrison ok, so it sound like engine is fine. You need to visually verify your carb's idle gap setting. There is an idle screw on the side of the carb, literally under the Air filter, turn it clockwise 1/4 of a turn to raise your idle gap. See if this helps to keep the engine running. Then if you have too much smoke, turn the high speed needle 1/4 of a turn clockwise (this will lower the total fuel going into the motor at higher RPM). Your low speed needle is important too, it should be set flush with the carb body (usually it's correctly set at the factory and nobody messes with it). let me know.

hybrid32494 ok, so it’s ok to mess with the tuning before breaking it in ?

@@4PFHarrison Full disclosure I'm no nitro guy but know motors but yes you can adjust the needles before the break in. The very first thing is to get it to run properly at idle. Look up the exact model and year and there should be "factory needle settings" or you could call traxxas and they will tell you factory needle settings and reset them to make sure they are set factory then go from there. They could of got out of whack from factory but that should be one of the first things to double check then go from there. Oh and listen to whatever hybrid says lol. Just bumping thread for you also. Goodluck! Hybrid will get you straight. The motor is probably just a little too rich or too lean to stay running. Then once idling fine do break in then after that adjust the fine tuning for high end and low end.

hey bro! Yes, you're correct, these 2-strokes require a nice big expansion chamber style pipe, like the dominator design at best. The THOR pipe is not the biggest expansion chamber by any means, but it's cool looking and quiet, has other benefits. OFcorse for performance that does not matter. Thanks for watching my dude.

whats up man!! I've also wanted and MTXl for a while, but the entire thing is just so damn problamatic without loads of drivetrain upgrades. That alone to me, is a roadblock. These Baja clones are super robust and extremely good value for what you get. PLus much faster than an MTXL.

What's good about ROVAN and King Motors is that the seller in the USA physically inspects and warranties this product directly. You dont have to deal with any outsiders. And they have incredible customer service, nothing to worry about. BTW, they also sell electric version of this model if you wanted.

But this one is just a step above i'd say for value and features. Plus they really don;t loose value and eventhe bashed ones sell for 3-400 normally.
