I saw the King Of Con. It's a very bad documentary technical wise. Sound is terrible, shot bad, very poor lighting, poorly put together. You can tell it was probably done over several years, because people in it go through multiple hair styles! It has an unnecessary host that feeds questions to Dwayne Richard that Richard wrote himself, and who generally talks to the audience like a poor Unsolved Mysteries host. There's definitely a story there. I fully recommend watching it. Hopefully Mr. Richard will remake King Of Con with a filmmaker helping him. It's a worthy sequel to King Of Kong, but I'd call it something else. With the recent events about Billy Mitchell's scores coming into question, I think a remake and update wold be great.

What an odd community these old school record holders are. A lot of them (to be fair, not all, but a surprising number) have the exact same mannerisms; caught cheating repeatedly, back stabbing others in the community with claims of the same, and very defensive about proovably wrong scores, grasping at every straw possible to either keep the scores in or deflect to any possible source of error that's not cheating. Acting like it's the world's fault that the community has grown with the internet and a simple doctored photograph or a friend on the ref council isn't enough proof to cut it anymore, like they are victims of the technology of the time rather than bad actors that couldn't withstand scrutiny when subjected to it. Such a shady lot.

ok I just finished watching "The King Of Con" documentary. Its a little dull in spots but the intrigue builds up and is worth watching. Not as flashy as Chasing Ghosts or King Of Kong, but it's filled with valuable interviews. Im a fan of Billy Mitchell's . It started with The King Of Kong , but King Of Kong was basically a made up story. And like Billy Mitchell, he too is a made up character. I used to think Dwayne Richards was a loser. But he's not. He's just trying to stand for something. and stand up for people. other gamers who didn't get recognition, but deserved it. The King Of Con documentary is actually a true documentary. And I went into watching with a bias, I must admit. I didnt even want to waste my time with anything this guy made. But I wanted to watch it, If anything to find flaws in it. Cuz I thought this guy was merely some butt hurt stoner guy. but I think he's pretty genuine. He doesn't play a character like Mitchell that's for sure. So I recommend watching it. And I hope someday those gamers get recognized. Billy Mitchell desires fame and glory from the world, while Richard desires respect and trust from his peers in gaming.

People need to know the truth and people have to hear all sides and see if there is any backup and evidence for what they claim,friendships etc aside

The original King of Kong was Tim Szerby. He was the first and not Billy Mitchell. He broke Billy's record several times and not make a big shot out of it. He has some videos here. Check him out. He is the legit King of Kong.

Abigale, My critique of Dwayne's documentary with respect to the first perfect Pac-Man is valid. Rick Fothergill, who I talk to freequently, does not believe Bill Bastable's game is valid. A "perfect" score is not the same as a perfect game. The moment he paused his game, he effectively ended it. He manipulated the hardware inside the machine after the game had begun.

Dwayne simply dismisses the fact Bill Bastable used the pause switch(dip switch 8) as irrelevant. He then changes it around by saying "We're not saying that he is perfect, we're saying he just got the score 3,333,360, that's what Bill did." So according to Dwayne Bill Bastable did not execute a perfect game. Dwayne is being irresponsible. I watched King of Con and Dwayne comes off as bitter that Billy Mitchell gets more attention than he does. The Pac-Man Championship Edition where Dwayne got third and claims he would have gotten first if he wasn't "injured" is a prime example of someone being jealous of the success of others. King of Con raises some interesting questions and points, but it would appear to me that all you retro guys are pretty shady. I saw Man vs Snake, and there's no way you didn't know your board was running fast.

All honesty the KoK shouldn't of been called a documentary. But that being said why wouldn't the director not use use Billy M and Steve W has the stars? Have you seen the approach Chasing Ghosts took? Many of the people in this hobby are sad moneyless virgin losers. A million on DK means absolutely nothing in the real world. So when people like Billy or Hank (winners) score a million, it's interesting.
