You'd think that the reason why some strikers like New Faces team, Goenitz, Mature and Vice disappear is because they are deceased, but for some reason, characters like Rugal, Orochi (as Chris) and Krizalid (we only knew Krizalid was revived during 2001) just leave like the rest, even though they are deceased according to the canon of KOF 2000.
The idea of extra strikes were actually really cool. Like, y'have some of the obvious ones, like characters from previous KOFs, but then y'have cases like Syo or Baedal, who are literally the original versions of Kyo and Jhun respectively. Then, on top of that, y'have several from different SNK games, like Kaede, Fio, Neo & Geo, and Gai just to name a few, which is actually pretty cool to see in KOF's earlier Sprite style.
The "Another" characters too, where "Another" K' was implied to be K' before he was infused with Kyo's DNA, and "Another" Robert is a reference to Street Fighter's Dan, who was a parody of both Ryo and Robert.
@@ultrariley7580 Another Robert is just Robert when he was Takuma's student. Another K' was originally going to be K' until the designers said that they did not like how he looked.
I absolutely love Neo & Geo. Wish they could appear in more properties. I might be wrong, but I could have sworn those two had a second striker attack where they would both perform a divekick from above the screen. Sorta like Might Guy's Dynamic Entry. Can't figure out how to get them to do it.
Another benimaru looks so cool with his hair down shame they did not use him as a fighter dam at least another iori was created by the KOF fan community in Mugen.
It's a shame Snk still havent built a "customizing" system for Kof, because i think that's important for the game. While there is some right criticism against the exaggeration of cosmetics additions in modern fg's, it's also not good when a new game has none of It. And there's a lot of cosmetic content potential to explore in Kof, as alternate costumes and other stuff, because of the richness of the Snk universe and Kof's story (at least compared to Sf). These "another" versions of characters in Kof 00 is only one example. There are chars who changed outfits many times through the series - that's another area to explore. I wonder if Kof Xv is finally going to take that important step, so that the series can look like it truly belongs to the group of modern fg's.
The following would make fascinating Smash Assist Trophies: Duke from Burning Fight (Submarine Screw) Neo & Geo from Quiz Daisousa Sen (Gives the affected opponent 10 seconds to answer video game trivia question, if they get it wrong, boom, but if right, they regain health) Rocky from Robo Army (shoots his rocket and marches to punch opponents)
Snk grew Kof's storyline aspect so much, and in such a peculiar direction (too much magic or sci-fi), that they forgot the original Snk crossover theme of the game, as that story direction became massively popular. Also they started caring less about bringing back Snk veterans (or just references), and care more about original chars. But this game, strongly inspired by Mvc1's assist system, wanted to go back and offer some of the Snk world, which was really nice. I wonder if a Kof 01 actually made by Snk, if the bankrupcy never happened, would have pushed that "Snk tribute" thing further. Even Cvs2 (from 2001) did it in the form of stage references.
It looks like the only Kof that kept (or recovered) the "Snk crossover" feel that originally defined the series, is Kof Xi. That feel faded out notably around 97-98. They even had to invent Neogeo Battle Coliseum in the 2000s, because Kof gave up its original and natural purpose.
