It's classic externalization. Instead of taking responsibility for your actions and holding yourself accountable, you blame something external and conclude it's out of your control. The scene riffs on people externalizing their problems.

As the kid said "We're all in their death grip" It same thing for everyone. We all do bad stuff, know its bad, but we still do it.

Not to mention soda is addictive; and if it's also caffeinated, that's a whole another ball game. A 13 year old also isn't gonna have that much will power to stop either...Doesn't mean you should blame your issues on soda and keep drinking it, but like, people do that with sooo many different things all the time, mainly with there job(I hate this job! Keeps working it)

@@theskiesaredark well, if anything that kind of drinks does contribute to his main problem (that being fatness) and doing away with that does help him, even if he does it for the wrong reasons.

They needed more plotlines as the show went on, and girl troubles is an easy story

I read a comment once that mentioned that Bobby lost some of reputation after he went to Joseph's party dressed as cupid. There was also an episode were he lived in a dog house and started acting like a dog and people started taking about him. Then there was the episode where he became a peer counselor and one of the girls mentioned that people where saying how he drove one of his clients crazy. So my head canon is his reputation tanked in his school which is why he keeps getting rejected.

@@OxintheBox I don't think Bobby lost his reputation. In the powderpuff football episode, the football players asked him to cheer with them because of his humor. That kind of privilege is usually only reserved for football players. Bobby must be a cool guy in their book.
