I never noticed that Bobby was talking about himself in this scene. This is so sad

It was pretty cruel. Bobby was sharing a moment with H the no and he just nipped it in the bud...

That's real life though, Bobby would get blown out of the water next to other guys that take care of themselves and have good genes

@@jasonmnosaj Although Hank is often critical of Bobby the issue I see is that even when Hank finally invests in him (i.e. roses) Bobby finds a way to go against the grain. If he only worked with Hank once in while their dynamic would be much more harmonious. I know it's a show but the same lessons apply in real life.

This episode kills me because it’s one of the only times that Hank showed interest in something Bobby is doing and then makes it about himself and his standards.

It's like Hank was taking this contest way too seriously. I think Bobby was doing all this for fun.

I would've been like "Woah, you can diss my Roses all you like but the moment you cut one when I deem it fitting is where I draw the line." If you can't respect another man's garden, then get out of his and go grow your own.

I can see why Bobby quit after being unappreciated, but maybe not the coach will realize how important every member of the team is, even when they're not players

This reminds me of something I once read about Charles Dickens. He was pretty hard on his sons. Even though they received an excellent education they never succeeded in anything, not matter how hard they tried they couldn't live up to their father's expectations, so eventually they gave up. Except for one son. He pretty much told his father "blow it out your nose, dad" and went his own way. Even when Dickens separated from his wife (blaming HER for the failed marriage, naturally) and forbade his children from having contact with her, his oldest son defied him and stayed with his mother. Dickens bought a toy theater (An immensely popular toy throughout the 19th century) for one of his sons, but instead of letting his son figure out on his own how to use it, Dickens called HIS friends over (other famous writers) to play with the toy theater instead. Kate (one of the daughters) later said that as she watched as their father and his friends played, her little brother looked at them for a moment and then went to his room. Dickens complained that his son wouldn't play with the toy theater or go near it and he couldn't understand why. Oh, remember when Bobby had his ventriloquist dummy? But Hank didn't like it so he made a "better" one? I liked how Peggy told Hank that ventriloquist dummy that he made was really his idealized version of Bobby. Or what he secretly wished he had for a son instead of Bobby. Naturally Hank's ideal "son" was a jock. 🤨

Hank knows the only way to end the argument is to destroy the offending Rose.

@@thepants1450 yeah, this whole episode was actually about Bobby trying to relate to his father, but Hank didn't get it. The first half of the episode is reversed, so the scene hits harder becuase while Bobby is willing to meet Hank, Hank isn't. It hits pretty hard.
