Glimbus be honest last two episodes gave you dragorgasms so strong you're still feeling the after-shock, ain't ya? Good dragons and good dragon show, feelsgoodman! Oh and yeah great content as always, still feels weird that i'm watching blisstakes tho ngl
My headcannon on the Mudd dude is that he was just some random peasant who heard that the Princess was looking for a husband at Storm’s End and thought “Well, you miss every shot you don’t take”. So he just picked out a name of some ancient house from some legends he heard and tried his luck at becoming future king of Westeros.
I actually think Viserys is pretty liberal in his attitude about Rhaenyra’s sexuality. When Otto first brings up the idea that she was seen in a pleasure house he shrugs it off before getting more details. And he freely admits to Rhaenyra that there is a double standard when it comes to sex. Then he attempts to discreetly supply her with the moon tea. IMO all of these things speak to him being more understanding and accepting of these things in her situation than would be typical for a man in his time and place in this story.
Right? Paddy Considine absolutely crushes it! As per episode five, Viserys is by far my favourite character, and that's mostly because of how well Paddy acts. I almost don't want the series to go on just because Viserys has to die for the plot to develop.
I'd marry that little dude in a minute, despite being 1)married, and 2) queer. There could be no heirs, but I bet together we'd settle the Brackons for good, ya know? And we could adopt.
My headcanon is that the Blackwood lad travelled to Storm's End to skip ahead of those Bracken rapscallions and beat them to the punch months early before the princess even got to the Riverlands. Little did he know the Brackens had the exact same idea to try and screw them over too.
4:55 But the point of wearing the gloves is that Viserys doesn’t want anyone to know how badly he’s disintegrating. He wears the gloves to cover up how badly his body is falling off so he can pretend he’s the same man who once claimed Balerion. Special gloves with only three fingers would only make it more obvious and wouldn’t line up with the theme of Viserys’ character here. (If we were doing a fourth grade book report that is.)

Great video as always. 12:34 That piece of music when Rhaenyra is escaping out the secret passages of the Keep and going to meet Daemon is by far my favorite piece of original music in this show so far. It’s such a powerful but haunting and mysterious rearrangement of her theme. I would *absolutely* listen to a whole video dissecting the music in this show, but especially that scene cause damn.
I really love the drums!! I'm hoping that the theme song changes gradually to become more stripped down & martial to match the more Shakespearean vibe. 100% agree that Rhaenyra's music is the best, out of a very good overall soundtrack. And the wedding music... alright alright alright
Hell, I'd *want* Daemon's new haircut, except that I know that I absolutely do not have Matt Smith's strangely attractive bone structure, and I could never make it work.
@Kaiser Franz Joseph True, people make it seem like men don't also have responsibilities in regards to marriages. Laenor was just as iffy on marriage as Rhaenyra was, but no one really talks about that as much
What an absolute stupid perspective to have Calling the king having sex with the queen rape because she doesn't enjoy it is stupid and ignorant of the historical context. NEITHER person can say no to consummating their marriage, it's what society expects of them for the stability of the realm. The king HAD to find a new wife and they HAVE to have sex. As he says himself in EP 3 "Even I am not above tradition and duty"
He isn't though. It's true she doesn't want to have sex with him and is only doing so because she's been pressured by her father, who is scum. But she, again on her fathers orders, manipulated a grieving old man whom is being pressured by his peers to find a new wife into loving her with gifts and kindness. While we know this is a facade the king doesn't. For all he knows a beautiful woman has shown him kindness and affection and has agreed to be his wife and carry his children. At no point has she told him she isn't interested. While the situation is fucked up both parties are being manipulated by Otto. If alicent revealed the truth to viserys he would never have had sex with her he only did so as she manipulated him into thinking this was a consensual relationship.
@@satansshadow218 having sex with someone while they're disassociating is absolutely SA. also, she did NOT manipulate him. she spent time with him. not to mention she was a child while he's a middle aged man. he didn't even ask her if she wanted to get married, he just decided for her cuz he was attracted to her. I thought we had left behind the whole notion that children can seduce adults, they're not the ones with the power in that dynamic.
Thank you Glidus, I couldn't place who Caraxes reminded me of until you mentioned turning him into an expert striker but he's got a real Peter Crouch vibe to me, squeaks and all
The music when Rhaenyea is in the tunnel was absolutely fantastic. Noting really happening yet it was my favorite sequence in the episode and up there with those in the show so far. Just goes to show how little things like editing and music can take a good show and make it great, just like S1-4 of game of thrones
the funniest thing is milly and emily had no clue high valyrian was on duolingo, I think it was emily who said in an interview they should consider adding it on there lmaooo that being said it only makes it that much more impressive how well they speak it, milly said it was just memorising the lines as you would any other so honestly props to her and matt bc it truly sounds so natural
I love the vibe in the garden party that Viserys is trying to cut loose and be “cool” because he wants to have a good relationship with Daemon again. “ _lol_ , no he doesn’t want to see some boring-ass tapestry, _my wife_ .”
Thank you for being one of the few people who acknowledged the power dynamics around Ser Criston dubious consent and his relationship with Rhaenyra. It helps explains a lot of his actions next episode. He has a lot more to lose than her, the stakes for him are much higher bc he is not protected like she is (same thing Mysaria told Daemon). Thats why next episode he is ready to die *twice* and snaps under the pressure while Rhaenyra is carefreely firting with her uncle during her own wedding. Much like with Mysaria, Criston is risking death while for the royals its almost a game
whats crazy is ANY music, songs, singing in a vid will wake me up, to the point where if a vid has anything musical I wont add it to my sleep playlist, but Glidus singing secret tunnel has never woken me up lol. Jenny Nicholson is another one I fall asleep to but unfortunately she has a song at the end of some vids, like her Evermore vid, so I can't fall asleep to it :(
We were all a bit startled by the new actors in this episode, I think it's find that he is taking his time to figure out what he wants to say about it. Quality over quantity.
@@Comrade_Jason 😂😂 of course it is! Sorry if this came across like I was defensive over this, I totally got the joke and didn't take it as an attack of sorts, I guess the comment doesn't translate the tone well, but take it as a neutral addition to what you say, the 10 year jump was jarring, Glidurs is probably still recovering from that😅. You gotta understand, everyone went from having the hots for Rhynyra, after the Daemon scene etc. to directly jumping into milf territory. He might be dealing with some whiplash right now, as we speak
Love the fact that in the previous episode at least two servants were there taking care of the baby prince and now that there's a princess nobody gives a shit and the queen has to take care of her
@@TrippyTheShroom I disagree. it's only one interpretation, and the less likely one in my opinion. You'd probably say Criston seemed uncomfortable or unwilling to do the act, but it's more so him fighting with his own desire to do it. In the next episode, he mentions how he had to break a vow of chastity when he did that, and how the one great thing anyone in his family had ever achieved - him being a Kingsguard, meant nothing because he fucked up. It's not that he was sexually assaulted, it's that he wanted to fuck Rhaenyra but went through internal struggle because it would be dishonorable for him to do so. I dont think anything about that is supposed to feel scummy. It's supposed to feel like forbidden love.
The thing about this episode is that Rhaenyra actually isn't lying to Alicent, at least if you're willing to pretzel logic a bit. "Daemon never touched me" obviously isn't literally true, but when you take it more in the spirit of the thing, ie "I did not have sex with Daemon", then it becomes true. But at the same time it's only true if you "technically the truth" that last bit, ie, "I said I never had sex with Daemon, I did not say anything about sex with anybody else ". And that's probably exactly what she's thinking, at least on some level.
If you want to make an effective spoiler warning, maybe add a couple more empty lines so the spoiler is actually below the read more. Otherwise you're just a dick.
That was definatly for us book readers. Like the green dress of Alicent in the next episode. They even said that it was meant for bookreaders but they still wanted to explain the dress colour. Also the rats running around in the castle are a hint or build up to opcoming blooding and cheesing in season 2 (i guess).
Crimbo and Crabapple are awesome names for Crispy Coleslaw. I need a blisstake of the last 2 episodes. They were all so sad, so naturally I just want to laugh.
Your crush on Matt Smith as Daemon is one of the most profoundly relatable things that I think we all of us have *ever* known. ;) You speak for the entirety of the Internet, I daresay; we cannot help but love our chaos gremlin of a Rogue Prince! The more chaotic and roguish he is, the better still that we do love him! Also, your continuing adoration for The Spicy Noodle Monster(TM) equally speaks to me. :)
Glidus, glad you were able to finish this, i appreciate all the hard work you do for us and this can’t pay for all the hours of entertainment this will give me but it’s all i can do for now! Time to actually watch this!
Honestly look forward to each Glidus video, and I appreciate the more frequent uploads. Hope to see more, the chaotic but brilliant humor is a breath of fresh air
I'm always impatiently waiting for the episode breakdowns of Glidus, Alt Shift X, and Preston Jacobs. I still watch all the others, but these three are the highlight of my week (I have a sad week haha)
Thank you Glidus. I really enjoy the recent videos you're making. House of the Dragon makes me happy, and the subsequent videos of people who love the show as much as I do make me even happier. It's a self-perpetuating loop of happiness. I have no one irl to talk to about it so this is as good as it gets for me in terms of discussion. :) The grayness of the show and its characters brings me so much joy. If Hot D can keep up that quality it might become my favorite show ever.
Oh and also really looking forward to you covering episode 5. So much great stuff in there! Alicent's entrance with that really heavy music theme brought me chills. The whole wedding was jam-packed with neat character interactions. Probably going to take you a while to make a video about it- please take your time! In the meantime I'm going to watch the replay of the livestream.
I think in the books it's stated that there are some who claim to be decendants of house Mudd. I'm guessing the guy in the first scene with the mudd sigil is one of these claimants and he was trying to use his own supposed royal bloodline in order to sway Rhaenyra to choose him.
you're a genius Pappa Glimbo 💞 love your viddies!! awesome Mighty Buush crimpy flash reference toward the beginning. what fun your dragon show mash ups are 🥰 can't wait for the next!!❣the acting & so much about this series is so freaking mind blowing!!
each episode is slowly getting longer, can't wait for the episodes to eclipse the show run time. Also it's daemon world and we are all just living in it.
Honestly, I think it makes sense that so many people went to Storm's End from so far away. This is essentially an interview for King of the Realm and odds are good she'll just stop looking at candidates when she finds a man she likes. So they could wait for her to get closer or skip the line by a few months and have a better shot at wooing her first. Waiting one's turn is just begging to miss out on being king.
According to The 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, originally by Francis Grose. A Vice Admiral of the Narrow Sea is somebody that gets so drunk that they piss under the table into their drinking companion's shoes. I can only imagine what being the king might entail.
I love your continues integration of dunkable elements from GoT and continuous delivery of daggers into them. Reminds me of Schaffrillas, would love to see you two collab.
Here super early to hype the "Heat of the Moment" intro!! Edit: When I recommended it on episode one blisstake I didn't think about how well it'd fit an episode like this lol. Though imagine "Caught up in you" the 'little girl' takes on a very different meaning
Loved that last conversation between Viserys and Daemon. Had that proper Game of Thrones conversation feel that I didn't get once from the later seasons.
The beauty and memorability of the song used when Rhaenyra sneaks out of the Red Keep only furthers the disappointment of there not being an original title song. Such excellent music in this show, save for one minor department…
I would argue that the dichotomy of the married life and the one of free sex actually displays how both neither one is truly happy. The music imagery etc of the brothel scenes especially are unsettling.
I understand that RU-vid guidelines and restrictions must be frustrating. Especially when discussing an episode like this. But the bear and snail stock videos were the funniest innuendos I've seen in a long time 😆
I had a stunningly terrible day at work today, then saw that Glidus updated, and now I'm just grinning. Thank you for the Heat of the Moment serenade that makes me feel even less comfortable with this episode than ever, lol
I like how, even after all the bullshit Daemon pulled, Viserys still doesn't kill him or lock him up. Instead sending him to "restore his honor". They're still brothers at the end of the day, I love it
