That's awesome! Do you still have the artwork? I've always wanted to bring the rest of the King's Quest games to the NES lol. I made the whole Serenia section of KQV in RPG Maker, and it's actually somewhat fun. But I'm thinking of getting the good NES maker I've heard about and giving it a legitimate shot.

I had a similar thing, I was remaking MULE into a multiplayer LAN game and I had all the music, gfx, and a shitton of the programming done and then Planet MULE came out of nowhere and pretty much put my game to shame. It still hurts :D I still have my version where it stopped and the code is so huge. I had AI for computer players and all that jazz going on, I was pretty proud of it so it sucked to stop working on it

I will keep taking shots at those numbnuts until it stops being funny, which is never. 😁

I'm very happy to hear you liked it, and that you think they take long to make. 😅 Unfortunately I have to be honest: They are quite easy to make; I have just been procrastinating. I got fired, got a new job, got fired from that, then got a new job again, so I was battling some bad mental health for a while.

I can atleast speak for myself, the entire series of space quest games including remakes and fan games was what I would watch last thing at night and large portions of nights during a difficult time that I went through. Glad to hear it! I don't remember there being a SCI remake of this game. Are you perhaps thinking of the SCI remake of KQ1?

Uh, maybe Neptune alludes to it a little, but the bulk of it is actually in the Manuel - which I suppose SQH didn't open. P.S. it's worth doing, if he didn't - there's a big history of development from Daniel Stacey within.

It's truly astonishing how polished it is for a non-commercial fan project...one of the best point-n-click adventure games I've ever played.

Yes, I did know about that. In fact, I accidentally solved this puzzle the right way the first time by getting the wolfsbane, and had to go back and do it the 'wrong' way to get the footage. :)

You're probably thinking of King's Quest III. There were two fan remakes of that game - one by Infamous Adventures, who also did the SQ2 remake, and their KQ3 remake is generally regarded as the more faithful one. The other was by AGDI, who also did the KQ2 remake in this video, and, much like this KQ2 remake, they took some liberties with the source material for their KQ3 remake. I've yet to play either of the KQ3 remakes for myself but that time will come...

My original intent was to play both KQ3 remakes next and do a comparison video, but I've got a couple of Patreon requests for videos first that I've been neglecting for ages, so I'm gonna do those first.

@@spacequesthistorian Just so you know, contrary to popular belief, you *can* actually kick the cat in the AGD one. It's just difficult, because you have to get "close enough" and he's constantly moving around. And I could be wrong, but I think you can only do so after you got some of its hair. But when you do kick him, it's pretty funny - particularly when you have the magic dough in your ears.

It's not doing any more rational world building then Jane Jensen's KQVI and every official king's quest thereafter has attempted - even KQ5 started connecting past villains together. Really it still feels like a world where any random fairy tale can appear, but now those elements know about each other and have a bit of history, which I personally appreciate.

@@MagusMarquillin As much as Jane Jensen changed the spices of King's Quest to make part 6, she didn't change the main ingredients, because she was still working under Roberta. Imagine KQ4 in this style. Each of the Seven Dwarfs has multiple cutscenes explaining their grudge against the Ogre, because the Ogre ate their mom. Happy tells you how it made him cry. Bashful was outraged, in 1000 words or more. Even Sleepy couldn't get a good night's rest. But really the Ogre is misunderstood. He explains he's not a cannibal, and he didn't eat their mom, because she brought out something special in him. Actually their mom is now Mrs. Ogre! A few more cutscenes play of the dwarfs' awkward meetings with their half-ogre brothers and sisters--Mom explains how much she loves them all, yet the dwarf babies were old enough to live on their own, supported by the gem mine. She wasn't getting any younger and needed a new man in her life. Doc, who is rabidly anti-miscegenation, meanwhile hangs himself. Sneezy and Grumpy drink each other under the table while drowning their woes. Dopey doesn't really understand anything and starts to cry. Rosella tries to organize a family picnic, but she forgot to pick up the "Day Planner" item back in Lolotte's castle.

@@spacequesthistorian that's okay, I was just curious, I personally like it as a nice ending for series, also by making them stories told by Graham and he having problems remembering, explains the retcons and weird things from the games It was also a nice a love letter to the games
