King tiger In Normandy: POV Ride & Amazing Engine Sounds
Hey guys! I had an amazing opportunity to take a short ride in the only running King Tiger in the world. It wasn’t running the best but that is something they will work on. The Maybach HL230 engine is a very difficult engine to tune properly as there is four different carburetors and two magnetos which all have to be adjusted perfectly. I hope to get a better video when the engine is working perfectly.

6 King Tigers made it all the way to La Gleize in the Ardennes during the battle of the bulge, all while Europe was experiencing it's worst winter in years. That's through mud, snow and the Ardennes terrain, so its mobility can't have been as bad as some say.

And if go across the channel in England, one can see the only running Tiger I - which is also the oldest preserved one - at the Tank Museum in Bovington.

Then go to Saumur museum in France. There will not too soon be another alive Tiger I, in the same french museum where lives the Tiger II, in Saumur city, it is under restoration at the moment.

@@Javdoc no it isnt, it went through 3 foward gears almost into 4th by the time it got to the little dirt hill. it has 8 Foward gears.. this was about 1/3 of the speed it can go.. Dont believe everything you hear about them being slow.. theyre not THAT slow. it has 4 reverse gears, this right here is about as fast as it can go in reverse lol. They can cruise at 24 mph, this looked about 10mph

I saw a other comment that said they repainted it in its actual Normandy scheme for the 80th. The scheme before was the Tiger that knocked out the Museum curator’s Sherman

j'ai lu quelque part que le Tigre à été restauré à partir d'un châssis et d'une tourelle qui n'étaient pas montées ensembles à l'origine. Ils ont peut être remis soit le numéro de la tourelle du châssis d'origine, soit le numéro de la tourelle actuelle. mais peut être que je me trompe.

Who owns this King Tiger tank? At the end of this video a Polish girl in commander's position (you can see her legs) says "Już idę już" which means she is about to leave. I'm guessing she is a tourist/visitor.

It gave only around 50 of the P series, i would love to see the only Tiger 1 p which ever served on the eastern front and got lost there, Not to Mix with Ferdinand or Elefant but one of them to See running would be nice too. In germany it would be possible to make an sturmtiger running, the one in the tankmuseum in Munster, i Heard his engine is in an Museum in Dresden. Well always nice to See old maschines running.

There's the one prototype at Bovington that has the early turret. Though its no where near operating condition.

@gv4058 um, the one at Bovington (Tiger 131) is actually from the first production batch of Tiger I's. But it has the Tiger P turret, which can be identified by the cutouts at the lower edge of the gun mantlet (it needed those cutouts since the Tiger P had a raised engine deck).

Huh... is something wrong with the transmission? The driver can't seem to shift it while in the optimal powerband, also a valvespring is a little spongy. 🤔
