Unarmed in Kingdom Come is OP. Who needs swords, axes, or maces when God has given you the best two weapons, lefty and righty. Also maybe a little bit of that cheese...
I feel like all the introductions from the herald before each round would be a lot more bearable if people seemed genuinely excited about it lol. There’s always just dead silence or a tiny bit of cheering.
19:00 My first meeting with Black Peter was very surprising, but in the second time I've decided to avoid his ambush. I was expecting to fight him in the second tournament again, but he's still sitting near the mill.
Same here. First time I won the tournament, black peter successfully ambushed me and killed me. Soooo, I would say WH did good with that quest. If there was a hardcore if you die you lose all your saves then this would've been the point I tossed my computer out the window.
@@helicalgoose yeah, once I was hit with the bane, I kept having lower and lower stamina so it got really hard. There's a very good reason that hardcore mode doesn't throw your save out and it's 100% reasonable. Plus, there's glitches here and there or just stupid, unfortunate deaths. Great game though and honestly this game has the best HC mode I've ever seen in a game, to where it seems a great amount of people play it now.
Haha, the game is pretty good I hope! I remember playing the game the first time and it took me about a 100 hours and week to beat it all and suddenly I got the "Nolife" achievement too :P But honestly, it was worth it because I just wanted to know how the game ended.
Haha, well these early videos I had a terrible mic, so I was messing around with options to change my voice/speed up to off-set my terrible mic. Also, I had the thought in my head that no one wanted to stick around to hear a slow talking person going on about an older game, so I sped up some videos like 10% or more so the voice changes quite a bit. In my most recent videos, I have a much better mic and quite limited interference in the editing. My voice still changes due to time recording and sometimes background noises, but now its much more consistent Though glad that you're finding them interesting. Don't know if you started the Hardcore Henry series, which that is where insanity starts :P
That is not a bad nick-name lol. If you ever watch boxing and the announcer is introducing a boxer in, they usually start listing off 10-15 different nick-names for the boxer. For Henry, I feel like this is one of those nick names he would have for certain ;)
Once you learn the master strike and can pull it off reliably, then every enemy in the game becomes a speed bump. I bet you could play naked too and still wipe out everyone with master strikes. Now with the fists only, that is a much tougher thing if you do not have an enclosed area to beat people back onto.
@@helicalgoose i just can’t get it reliable on the first swing. probably easier with more than 30FPS and a desktop instead of tv. i almost have to predict the faster attacks. A set up parry, in which i block the first swing normally and go for the masterstrike on the second one, is the way i use it reliable. It‘s a lot of fun to still use directional blocks.
@@deeptroit_5692 yup, I am fairly certain that fps is a factor on this one too. I use to play this game on an old laptop getting around 30 fps and had a hard time. Moment I was able to play this in 60 fps I noticed combat got a lot easier. So you're not crazy, its partly the lag/input that is throwing you off. The only reliable thing is a bow and arrow. Lag needs not apply here.
My first meeting with Black Peter outside of the tournament caught me off guard. I wasn't paying attention so I ended up getting knocked off my horse by the rope lol. It was also my first encounter with bane potion. I had to sprint to the apothecary for the antidote! Now I walk around with a few in my pocket just in case haha
I am surprised that this video gets seen at all lol. But it is something I will have to redo since it was quite fun doing. It is surprising how easy it was to beat out the people with the knee. Just need the strength up to grapple everyone easily.
@@ЛиэмКэмпбелл But I will say this is the only place that fist fighting is more powerful than weapons. If you can not get that grapple off and your foe puts their back against the wall, then this does not work. Now the fight with Runt in the chapel, you can do this with just your fists and it works pretty well too! But other than that, I can not think of any other fight that it puts you at an advantage.
Idk if any of you guys know this but there’s a blacksmith out there in Bohemia (I forgot the specific town but it has a tourney marker in a place other than rattay) but the blacksmith tells the story of his son that fought and won in the tourney but never came home. I won’t spoil it for anyone even though I’m sure it’s obvious but it’s a fun little side quest and it has a couple of different outcomes depending on whether or not you’ve fought and won the tourney.
Yes, I think he is in Samposh or however it is spelled. I honestly never seen too much different from that guy in how I complete the quest, but I will have to take a look at it. He is soooo far away from Rattay it is easy to do the quest and never visit him again :P
@@helicalgoose to be honest you’ve probably explored the outcomes more than me lmao, if anything the difference is probably in the dialogue since I doubt he would raise the amount of groschen he gives you for telling him you killed Black Peter.
Ok google can stop it with the whole "invading your privacy" thing. The algorithm must have been monitoring my gameplay or something because I just did this a few hours ago. Never spoke and no one was in the room so it couldn't have been a device eavesdropping. Scary af...
I have that same problem occur with thinking about getting new shoes or something similar, and I did not even type anything in or even said anything out loud, but motherflippers are putting shoe ads all across my feeds. :P
I am glad! This is a much older video, but it is one that I should redo sometime :P Add a little more spices to the video and get better sound recording! :)
Not satisfied enough, complete the tourney without damaging anyone For real tho, great videos. Your like..the only youtuber who consistently plays this game
Oh man I have been meaning to update this video for a long time. That sound quality and editing is not the finest :P But there is quite a bit of things to do with this tournament as well.
I'm exactly the same with the helmet choice! I actually use the Bretache that has the metal going down over your nose, but it's very similar, even though I would usually use the Decorated German Helmet or whatever for charisma/protection. The visibility is so important, which is amazing in this game because it shows realistic tradeoffs, though, irl, the visibility would be even worse.
Heck yah, I need to see what I am doing. The small protection bonus is not worth the ability to save my nose at the cost of not being to hit anything :P But yes, KCD is amazing for forcing us to pick the options. Any other game would not make that happen.
@@helicalgoose I've never had that problem and like the full helms though the best one to see out of is the zol armor from band of bastards dlc. I also have a cuman armor henry play through i call hardcore henry cause im so lightly armored if you get hit much even on normal difficulty your gonna die
hehe too great. But it's actually not the armor that you break. It's you drain his stamina and then the damage he takes is Severly higher. The same applies to yourself. stamina is the second actually primary health bar :D
Yup! Honestly I get tied up so much in punching with fists that I tend to go beyond my stamina because I do not want to give up the damage I am doing to the opponent. The dangerous part is that, if they do a master strike on you you basically go down instantly lol.
It would be a little hard to be Mike Tyson with all those people in helmets ;) Can't get those tasty ears :P I am actually amazed that this technique works so well with people with sharp weapons. Then again, if this is an RPG, this is just Henry maxing out his Monk stats :P
Yup! In another video, I found a way to get out of the arena and like you said it just auto fails you for the round. Sort of disappointing to be honest since I was hoping to find another bug in the game.
Reminds me of my real life full contact battles: one contrahent goes directly into in-fight to undermine the reach of my two handed sword and let's his metal plated fists speak. Totally legit, effective and absolutely realistic. (I'm not kidding)
I do not doubt it at all! Thinking about if you got a professional wrestler or boxer in a ring with a sword fighter, but the starting position was up close I think that the fighter could win. Though I do not know any professional sword fighters, so I do not know if there is a way for them to get people away from their up close and personal space.
@@helicalgoose I'm happy to answer this question for you: historically a good sword fighter was also well trained in wrestling. (german "Ringen") This is even today a very common thing during those fights and the best way to bring your opponent to the ground. Fancy ways to get distance are kicking (I love kicking, also effective against shields), boxing and shield or pommel blows to the face. Being too close can also be quite dangerous. Once a friend nearly lost an eye because his face catched my swords guard through his open helmet. I'm missing some of those techniques in KCD, especially kicking, but you can hardly get all this stuff into a game. :D
Ah I am glad you wanted to find that out. It seems like a personal challenge to beat the KCD tourney, but to beat everyone with your fists, now that is really showing off :P
@@helicalgoose It is working for me, only a few more wins and I'll have all the Leipa gear and don't care to have any of the other rewards. I cannot always keep the opponent boxed into a corner but can usually prevent him for striking me with his weapon. I'm fighting with fists because I stink at using weapons. I have all of them levelled up to 20 but still don't have a feel for them. Fists and bow I can do. In the most recent tourney I did lose against the third opponent. The AI might have seen me coming or maybe it was a fluke. I practiced first with Captain Bernard, choosing each weapon in turn and then fighting him unarmed. I feel a bit embarrassed to hear Radzig congratulate Henry on winning the tourney. (Oh Pa, if you only knew). I will keep trying to become proficient with weapons otherwise I will feel like I did not complete the game.
@@valkyriesardo278 Haha, I want to say if you beat the tournament enough there is another two prizes that are pretty darn good. Two swords I believe. One is the St. George Sword and the other is just a merchant sword that isn't good to use, but pretty darn rare to get. (Can't buy it, only get it off luck off NPC merchant random spawns). But that is a lot of fighting and listening to that announcer go nuts :P
That is a pretty good idea for fighting those guys. Also knocking them out is really easy and they have tons of valuable stuff. Almost too easy to knock them out while they're sleeping. I think the tournament auto-fails for that day if you kill one of them, which is a shame. The thing you can do to them too is chuck them off the cliff side of the castle if you like to see them bounce down a hill :P
I think new people just start to run into three-five bandits and think they can take them all on at once. This game goes with the realistic approach that you probably are going to die, unless you really know what you're doing. But one on one combat, I get mad at myself if they even damage me. :P
You are so cute with your yay and whoopee and wahoo. That's the best reason to play, having fun. Oh and I caught that "we don't need stanima". You're in Bohemia, not panima.
I always like hearing back on some of my old videos because you could tell I was having more fun with the game than anything. Even if I was doing stupid things and not the ideal fighting, it was still just for fun :P
Ooooo, that is actually a good thing to try out. The only thing to worry about I think, is that if you fail to pickpocket, I think the tournament gets canceled because a "crime" has been committed or something like that. But I need to try that out next time :D
I will give it a try for certain! And this game rarely gets patched (thankfully at times lol) So it could still be viable. I do know if you stab people that are watching the tournament the tournament will end, since technically you committed a crime and they don't like that, no idea why!
that is true. Dodging is often superior. But if you have defense of 10 or above, most of the time, blocking will win the fight for you ;) It is almost unfair after awhile.
@@helicalgoose I love your videos on this game! The bugs make it super silly, but I really want to know if you have ever given the Witch's Brew to a bunch of people with any effect. I tried on the cuman camp in nest of vipers but didn't see an effect in the battle later.
I remember my first time with black peter, i actually came from behind him cuz i was selling my shit after going to armourer, then i saw the snare, and then i beat the shit out of him
Oh my, this video is sooo old and always surprised to see comments from here! :D Its doable for certain, but man some of those master strikes are just plain cheating! We need some fist fighting master strikes in this game!
@Helical so if you knock out or kill Black Peter and carry him to the blacksmith does he have a different reaction or do you still get the same dialogue choices
Honestly, I have not tried. The main reason is that carrying his body out there is possible and you can lead him out of town which would be easier than carrying. However...if any guards see you, it is an instant crime and carrying a body is instantly murder. My suspicion is that the blacksmith will just call the guards on you. Getting Black Peter to follow you all the way up is possible, but quite a bit difficult. :D
Haha, I really need to remake this video sometime, it has been such a long time and I forget about the silly stuff I did in the past like that :P Henry the twerker, that needs to come back.
one time I enrolled in the tournament they didnt give me a weapon. The opponent had one but I didnt, still kicked his ass tho lol. I have it recorded on my ps4 might upload it at some point.
Yes and it helps out quite a bit too! I feel like I really need to redo this video sometime, maybe after KCD hardcore Henry series. The new mic and graphics cards makes things look and sounds better ;)
It sure was edited that way. I was trying to compensate for a terrible microphone at the time by changing the pitch? Umm, I am not a bright man. :P My newer mic actually sounds passable.
@@helicalgoose I have a similar video on a 10 year old account where I was 12 years old and making tutorials for Minecraft on a windows 8 So I understand to some degree
@@sk_wr Haha. It is always good to look back at the old videos and see how far I progressed with sounds and edits. Really, it just takes a lot of time and trail and effort to make progress. I should really try remaking some of these earlier videos to a better quality. I still have a ways to go in getting better, but its a good challenge. At least I am no longer pitch shifting my voice anymore to hide a bad microphone :P
That is not a bad idea to be honest. However, I think they dress you up in the tournament armor and their own weapons :( Sadly you can not make it a challenge if you wanted to. But if you have the light perk for dodging it would work really well here. :)
@@takuoku2546 I believe that you're force to wear the tournament armor. not 100% certain on that, but I sort of remember that trying to wear my fancy gold armor in there, it strips it off me for the plain plate. Also the armor gets auto repair between matches, but not the clothes of the contestants. It is quite odd thing to see lol
@@takuoku2546 I believe you're forced to wear the tournament armor. I think even if you're naked, they would still make you wear that armor :( No way to make this harder or easier for yourself :(
From what I remember if you grab them without a weapon and have them close enough to a wall, you can elbow strike them with the normal attack punch or was it the fast punch? Haha it was soooo long since I done this that I sort of forgot which is which. But as a tip, the best way to end this quickly is to get them against the corner then keep kneeing them in the head as a loop. Usually you can get them in a death spiral and they go down or either their health is near zero :D
Yes, sort of... The lower you go, the harder it gets though. One bad combo from these people can usually take you out of the fight if it bypasses your armor. It is possible but really annoying.
god I'd wish there would be a way of skipping the blappering and talking of the Announcer^^ having a couple hundred hours in the game it gets quite annoying
100% Listening to the announcer each time would not be terrible, but it is the pauses between each line...like come on old man!!! We have people to kill! I need to re-do this video and edit it down or better sometime, this was fun to do for a bit.
