I wanted to immediately explore Scala. Was probably the most interesting world I wanted to explore the most besides The World That Never Was.

This is exactly what i want Quadtratum to be. Dense, alot of verticality, hidden alley ways and interiors. A massive city to get lost in. Expanding the sense exploration to a new exciting level. Give me what they wanted in KH1 platforming wise. I believe Scala ad Caelum was just secretly a tease for whats to come in KH4's Quadtratum. The possibilities are super exciting.

I just hope that it doesn't become repetitive like many big cities tend to be, if they're not meant to be a tourist attraction. Running through streets without any interaction for more than two minutes is like exploring the underwater areas between the islands in the caribbean (I tried to find crabs... don't ask 😵‍💫)

imo scala is still way more interesting. quadratum is just a realistic city. scala is this super detailed ancient town with a ton of mystery to it

@@ctpp64 I agree. But I believe we're gonna see a lot more of Quadtratum over Scala, besides for Missing Link of course. I just really them want to nail this world so bad. The potential is absurd for both of them and it's super exciting.

Interesting fact : the ship you get in the pirate world, the unlockable one, leviathan has many scala language inscriptions all over the ship. Wonder what connections are there between the boat and scala

A reference to several things; one of them being a vessel/ship that travels the sea of stars (worlds). You know, like the Gummi Ship and Hook's Jolly Roger in Neverland. There is some symbolism here; namely, Yozora being a "ferryman" transporting the living to the dead. Scala is described as a nexus for worlds. Well, you could compare it to a lighthouse. Remember the 3rd Pirates movie? The dead people sitting in small row boats? Could be something similar. For more in-depth details, please watch The Violet Howler's KH videos: "Constructing Kingdoms"

That's really an interesting detail! Do you know a link to the translations or the alphabet that someone seems to have created? I'm also curious, if we finally get to know some more about Iras house in Twilight Town.

Twilight Town and Scala ad Caelum will no doubt be expanded upon, so I wouldn't sweat it. Square's been smart about making these assets, so we'll see a scaled down version in Missing-Link and a HD/4k variant in KH4 along with Quadratum and such.

The concept artists and devs who designed this world were probably so excited to share it with us. The cables screamed “flowmotion.” Given that the dev who modeled Leon was “angry” at Nomura, you can only imagine how devastated these devs were… Everything about Cable Town was so intriguing. Pure KH magic. This world had every opportunity to be the most memorable KH world since Hollow Bastion. Sadly there’s a time and place for things. They missed their chance to make an amazing first impression and even it reappears in a future game it will never be able to have the full impact it would have had if it were in KH3. Really sad and infuriating and that’s just speaking as a fan. I feel so awful for the devs.

As time passes you get old, your old games don't give the same fun as they did back then nor do the content creators for them... Not for Kingdom Hearts not for Jared, bro ty for introducing me to kingdom hearts all the way back in 1.5 HD and holding my hand throught the journey, you literally made me find my favourite game series (with my fav being KH3) and one of my fav youtubers Nice video, let's hope we can see scala like this or done EVEN MORE JUSTICE in KH4(I doubt) or a new spinoff title

It unfortunate that Scala Ad Caelum, was not a big as they wanted in KH3, but knowing how Nomura is cryptic with his storytelling this place isn’t going anywhere. We already saw the lore of this essential world being expanded quite heavily in Missing Link. 2024, is looking very spicy for KH lore and news regarding the games.

Team efficiency is not good with Osaka. The reason why KH1 and KH2 got it is because it was done by experienced devs with a huge background of games. Osaka had very little when they got handed the series. They cannot implement features in time and struggle according to every interview with them.

@@milesbbop9563True. Though how were they able to create the best bosses in the entire series in the limit/secret cut episode? They created 14 fair, challenging and engaging bosses in 1 year, completely reworked to be fought one on one. Like how did they go from the unfair and unbalanced game design in DDD/KH3 to this masterpiece in the DLC? Even Bizkit was baffled over the 180 degree turn of the boss quality in the DLC bosses

Kingdom Hearts 3 was definitely a little rushed at the end, It had been announced years before it was put out. They even were forced to change engines which had them start almost from scratch. What we got is partly better than what we got in the past and partly worse. Which is acceptable with the stuff happened in the background. Can't wait to see what they do with KH4. They clearly have had alot of time to truly understand the engine to put up something even more spectacular. I am sure they could not do all the things they wanted with KH3, but KH4 will be different. It will definitely be better with its own spin on the franchise. Just like every other KH title.

Since Scala Ad Caelum was made explorable with the Re:Mind DLC I found it from day 1 as boring to explore. It was completely empty with only enemies around, nothing special and no locals to interact with. I really hated it. I can get the reason is because something might have happened for the residents to leave/disappear (which is odd because what happened there?), yet it's boring at the same time. At least it's now different with Missing-Link with being able to interact with many npcs this time, giving the exploration a taste of 'life". Edit: They barely focused on original KH worlds in KH3, for example: - The Tower: completely got cut and reduced to cutscenes - Twilight Town: Larger area with tons of npcs, yet smaller than how it was back in KH2. - Radiant Guarden: Like Why it's not even playable when it WAS in KH1, KH2, and even BBS? - Destiny Island: Not even a small section playing as Sora to open the door to the world of darkness, nor a final break on the Island before the final encounter with the organization - Realm of Darkness: 0.2 BBS SHOULD have been an intro to KH3 originally right? Yeah, too bad it never happened because we barely do something there. - Keyblade Graveyard: Yes, it IS playable to an extend, but what about adding npcs to interact with from our allies there? It worked for KH2! - Castle Oblivion / Land of Departure: The finale in the dark seeker saga and yet those 2 appear in one single small section in the game and never again? At least give us the ability to travel to them. - The Final World: What we did there other than collecting Soras and listening to stars and never return there as a playable area? - Scala Ad Caelum: Main purpose was to immediately fight Xehanort(s) 10 seconds later then it's the end of the game. They only gave the disney worlds bigger explorations and bigger areas, you'd think as the end of the dark seeker saga that it should be the other way around by allowing us to visit and play around as much original worlds as possible, but nope. KH3 was truly a disappointment title, I don't know if the fact they switched engine or announcing KH3 way too early caused all of this.

Normally I would completely agree with all your points, however, as president of Shinr-I mean Square-Enix (don’t tell anyone!) I feel I should let you in on a company secret. Many people believe that Square-Enix is run by electricity, but it’s not. It is in fact run by the harvested Tears of our Fans. If we had delivered a KH3 with all the features you listed, we could have risked KH fans being SO happy that it could have depleted all our energy reserves and caused a blackout for our entire company. And if we ever lost power, then the locking system in our basement which seals the portal to the Realm of Darkness (on top of which our company headquarters is built) would fail and real-life Heartless would be unleashed upon the world. We did have company discussions about making the version of KH3 you described, but after a lot of debate we decided that the risk was too serious. The joy KH fans would have felt at being able to visit the Twilight Town Clock Tower after making Sea-Salt Ice Cream with Remy and getting a special secret cutscene, or exploring Castle Oblivion or Radiant Garden or Destiny Islands would have overwhelmed our power system so completely that EVEN if we took the emergency actions of announcing several more mobile games or announcing-and-then-immediately-cancelling more FFXV DLC, we’re not sure we could collect enough Fan Tears in time to recover. So would all those features have made KH fans happy? Yes. It also would have threatened all existence in this reality-and Unreality as well. ;) (Enjoyed reading your post!)

Honestly, I'm predicting Scala will be some kind of Hub World in KH4. A perfect staging area for Riku to get to Sora.

Bunch of HUD recolor mods, but some are bundled with other mods. Vicennial Trace for example has a black, white, and gold hud you can download.

Kingdom Hearts 3 really feels incomplete. It should have a Final Mix version with the DLC built-in with new explorable Cities.

This and Twilight Town would have been the most interesting places to explore because they were original. They couldnt mess it up! I bet im not the only one who thinks the only fun world to explore is Olympus because it showed the most from the movie and the story for it was well paced. The other worlds were dissapointing or just questionable, atleast to me.

I had such big expectations for "cable town" when it was finally revealed in the final trailer in 2018. Sad it didn't live up even to the bare minimum ones... It was either a ridiculous design choice or a terrible clue for a serious conflict during development.

Still super salty that KH didn't go the edgy anime route that the Secret Endings were eluding to, in favor of a more family friend "Love and friendship beats everything." generic disney message. The original worlds in all the games were the best (except for maybe hollow bastion but it was the final level so it makes sense to be mazelike and infuritating). Twilight Town not getting expanded, Traverse Town not making a comeback, The World that Never Was not coming back either was just so mid. Scala was a glimpse into that cool uniqueness that KH is supposed to have. Hope KH4 has it in spades.

Does anyone agree with me that there was no reason for the devs to develop other twilight town areas? Because nothing important happens there. It would be a waste of time for the devs

You've got it the wrong way around though. Those places weren't cut because nothing happens there, nothing happens there because these places were cut. Also, just because nothing happens doesn't mean it shouldn't be included. Sticking to the bare minimum is a great way to make your game feel lazy (which obviously it isn't but it still looks like it) and underdevelopped. I'm not saying ALL of KH2 Twilight Town should have been in KH3 but the clocktower plaza, the street leading to it and the hideout were really the least they could have implemented. They could have put a secret boss in front of the clocktower, there could have been scenes with Hayner, Pence and Olette back at the hideout, there were lots of things to be done to make this world feel like an actual world and not just an oversized room for a few cutscenes to happen in.
