I'm not much of a kingdom hearts guy, but I understand that this game is nostalgic and whimsical fun for a lot of you - hence all the requests and this subsequent cover. I didn't really see much of a point in taking a relatively simple track which is clearly meant to be emotional and sentimental and turning it into a shredfest, so this is more of just a building post-metal type thing. I hope y'all dig it!! I was originally planning a different cover for this week, but everyone was yelling at me to cover something KH - so here you go. enjoy!!
Thank you so much man, I grew up with these games and this song, it means a lot to me, and hearing this cover gave me chills, like I was 13 again, playing the original game for the first time and heading into the unknown
My mom died 3 years ago. Her favorite video game was kingdom hearts. I listened to this song maybe 400 times the day of her funeral.. Just found your cover of it.. You sir made this metal head cry... Thank you.
@@ryanaustindino Reading your comment made me realize losing a parent is always a possibility, and closer than one might think. I don't see her much anymore since I moved to another city. My life has been consumed by work and studying, two things I never dreamed possible for me to do, least combine them. I have found stability and success in this regard, but feel like I never have enough time. Not enough for myself, least for others. This makes me sad at times... I have fought tooth and nail to get here, and I feel empty at times. I sit at home and study, try to get some time for myself, or I'm working at my job. I also have a diagnosis for ASS and ADHD, which makes keeping track of my social life even worse. I barely feel the drive to reach out to loved ones, and slowly and steadily am losing my whole social circle. My family won't leave me for this, but they won't be around forever... and yet, at times I feel really bad and cry, but the drive itself never comes, only negative emotion. This went on longer than expected. What I actually wanted to reply were my condolences for your loss. I hope you had an amazing time together, and that she may live on in her loved ones hearts.
I remember playing Kingdom Hearts 2 with my mom when I was 6, she died 3 years later and I bought Kingdom Hearts 3 day one in her memory. I was only 9. This video had the same affect for me. Keep ur head up bro, metal heads gotta stick together 🖤
My Mum passed 2 years ago now and I only just found Rich's cover of this; it's the first time I've felt strong enough to listen to Dearly Beloved at all now she's gone. I hope you're doing alright and staying strong for your beloved mother too.
@@Castreyy When I watch videos on youtube about this topic, it's always just about how all games have important plot points but it's across 11 games on several different platforms platforms. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--LpJnN9Imbg.html
@@lampenpam Emulators are your friends, most of the games are already on consoles that are no longer available, plus using emulators you can play them at 4k.
Can I just say thank you for doing this one? Even though you're not a fan, especially because you''re not a fan, thank you for going out of your way to make this for us! We're riding high as hell on KH3 and this is icing on the cake.
Oh my hearts... never stopped to consider what the Kingdom Hearts theme would sound like as a metal version. Thank you Richaad for giving us this version we never knew we needed.
Man, I definitely wasn't expecting a Kingdom Hearts cover on this channel, but I am definitely pleasantly surprised. Great work as always, dude. I have a playlist just for awesome KH-related musical tracks that I come across on here, and this is definitely going in it.
This is a pretty iconic song from Kingdom Hearts, it's a beautiful song, and just hearing you play it on your electric guitar makes it sound way better, great job! 😄😁👍
This sounds so much like a theme for a sora final boss battle. Imagine its kingdom hearts 4, and sora has fallen into the darkness, everyone expects for him to come back and see the light. But after a several phases battle you realise he is not doing it, after all he has done his heart is too deep, maybe with time it could be saved, but he is far too powerful at this point. Then this music starts to play in the last phase, tired from the battle he fights worst, with the kingdom hearts 1 moveset, clunky and predictable but still powerfull. And you have no choice if you want to save everyone, you have to send his heart to kingdom hearts, striking him down, and thus also saving him.
You are 100% right about the songs original intention of being emotional and simplistic, but hot damn that was fucking tasty. I love metal, and I love post rock and post hardcore. You did something not many people pull off well. Superb performance, sir.
Favourite Kingdom Hearts Cover!! The way that you put the "metal" parts it's absolutely amazing!! The song can still give me incredible emotions, while give me the jump that I get when listen to metal!! Beautiful!! Beautiful!! And beautiful!!! I can clearly hear and see the respect that I put in the cover!! And man, what an amazing interpretation!!! I feel the need to say " Thanks!!!" for this master piece right here!!!
@@jojonta2119 Kingdom Hearts is a videogame, but has the cast is very anime-esque. It ain't outta context, you're just trying too hard to hate someone because they're popular.
As a longtime KH fan, I was skeptical of this cover, until I opened my ears and my heart. This is beautiful, and you did the soundtrack tremendous justice. You’re awesome, man! ♥️
This sounds like a music that was genuinely made by a metal band Definitively that wasn't what i was expecting for this song, but i *dearly beloved* it
This song makes me wanna take on the world. For some reason when I hear it it reminds me that every time I've been knocked down, I've gotten right back up and kept on being myself; and it motivates me to keep on doing it despite my fears and the ridicule of others. I didn't know I needed this, and I thank you very much for making it. Keep on keepin' on.
I only JUST binged the games a few months ago.... and this song already stings me with nostalgia... Guess the music choice is really just that awesome. I played BBS like for 3 hours 10 years ago, but i cant believe i have such a strong connection to music from a game i only just played.
I realize you aren't a big KH fan but there are some battle themes in the game that you would absolutely ROCK. Fragments of Sorrow, Another Side Another Story/Deep Dive, Darkness of the Unknown, and most especially Vector to the Heavens would sound awesome by you.
Flashback to the first thing my brother, sister and I all did together without fighting. We took turns playing together, and those who didn't have the controller sat in the room side by side with the one who did. My sis was the oldest-- she had the game guide for Kingdom Hearts, and helped my brother and I plan out what to do next in the game. I miss those days... We didn't fight. We were in the same house. We were a family back then.
Kingdom Hearts really is something special, taking two wildly different things and making them fit together in a way that can only be truly described as "magical". I hope you and your family finds time to mend and hopefully grow close once again
@@ryapowa Unfortunately divorce has rent the possibility of mending much. One parent is the jealous type, so whenever I go visit the other half of my own family I get into trouble. Hopefully I'll be out of their house soon so I can visit both sides without being judged.
@Kyokono Yeah, it's only been recent since me and my siblings have even been in the same state as each other, I hope that soon all four of us can actually hang out with each other without any issues. Essentially it'll take time, but as long as you love each other, you guys need to look out for one another with or without the support of your guys' parents. I wish you all luck
I have recently been getting into these games since my wife and her siblings played as kids. Instantly Dearly Beloved was a song that felt like other games I played as a kid that actually causes you to connected on an emotional level, and some how this song makes me feel Nostaligia without having played these games. I don't know how you did it, but duuuuuude, you kept the emotional part of this song intact, yet brought it to a hard rock/metal level. Keep doing what you're doing! Checked your other videos and I like, subscribed :).
Games aside, KH and FF make incredible music. Universal music that sounds good in all cases. It's often ignored due to being a video but one cannot deny the beauty and nostalgia in these tracks. It's proof that video games are art. Your cover is incrdible. Thank you.
I just discovered this one today, 19th Oct, 2020. And holy shit this is beautiful. Birth By Sleep being my favourite KH game, this song hits home everytime. This version, sent chills down my spine. Very fuckin splendid work here Rich!
THANK YOU! Hopefully you'll learn to appreciate the incredible soundtrack of the series. I truly hope to one day listen to your versions of several of their themes (stuff like Lingering Will and the like, all battle themes are great material)
Ooh, really digging how this turned out. I love me some good speedy thrashing, but slowing things down once in a while is always nice too. Flying Battleship Glorious, anyone?
