Also, they drip feed you story content through updates, and it takes 3 to 5 years to finish. It's not worth playing, to be honest. I would rather have a finished game with a complete story from beginning to end for $40 than a free-to-play "give us your money or you can't play" slog of a game.

Gotta give it to them though, it’s still more accessible than having games scattered among so many different consoles like it was at some point ( and there already were KH mobile games back then too). And while yes it does require ressources, still not as much as if the game was out on a console, ‘cause console game would mean same quality as a numbered title these days. It… would probably mean no kh4 until 2035 or something.

More than that, the gameplay isn't even fun. At least with some gacha games like Genshin (🤮) the gameplay is somewhat fun and interactive. This shit? It's boring turn based nonsense prettied up to LOOK cool, to LOOK like a KH experience like the AAA and AA games, but it isn't. And we know it isn't.

I'm glad this video was put out since I've seen many fans pressuring Square for a release date for this game. Too many games now are being released too early with horrible optimization off the bat. I'm hoping most issues will be fixed when Missing Link gets released someday.

@@cycle1990 XIV is instance-based though there technically is a world, but it's not really used for anything. There's gathering and weekly hunts and that's about it it's honestly kinda hard to even consider it an MMO, it really has none of the main features of the genre

@@alumlovescake That's not true. Not true in FF14, unless you're doing all the expansions that have been released throughout the 10 years the game has been released. A mobile game, in comparison, is way more grindy and takes way longer to get anything substantial done. So mobile games are worse in this area because they're too focused on making money, which also makes the games less fun. I would rather pay a subscription for an MMO, without a doubt. Also, an MMO, if successful, could last twice as long as a mobile game's life span or more, with less cringe mechanics like needing AP to play.

Is going outside or paying the only means of gaining AP? Does it not restore itself over time or anything like that? I don’t see myself playing this game while I’m out so I’m worried I won’t be able to do anything with it

@@glydoughnut9432 Rest easy. You don't have to go out at all. I'll make a video on this. I don't want to come across like I'm advertising my channel on someone else's video because that's pretty lame - but there seems to be a lot of misinformation about this aspect of the game. You can get AP in four separate ways: - If the game is gracious enough to gift you some for free as part of a quest - By defeating Heartless in GPS Mode - By activating Recovery Posts in GPS Mode - By purchasing with Coins There will presumably be another option to purchase with Jewels but we didn't have access to that in the Beta. The best ways to get AP if you don't want to go outside is as follows: Recovery Posts: The Recovery Posts are basically PokeStops. They change location every day so some days you'll have one outside of your house and other days you won't. I had two outside mine at one point and was able to farm a lot of AP by sticking it on 'Hands Free' mode and leaving it to farm. You get 8AP per Post. Defeating Heartless: Heartless appear literally anywhere. So you can just switch into GPS mode and a group of Heartless will surround you while you're in your home. They typically come in a group of around 6 battles and drop 4AP each. They come about every 5 minutes, so you can get around 800AP if you leave it on 'Hands Free' for three hours. You will often get uncommon Heartless that drop more AP, something like 40, so your net gain will vary. If you have a Piece Post next to your home and you leave it to farm Heartless, you can get a significant amount of AP while leaving it on Hands Free mode. Only downside is you can't really use your phone, but it's great to stop yourself from getting distracted by your phone lol. There's also Enemy Bells which are incredibly inexpensive, sometimes given to you for free in the shop and last for 30 minutes. They draw more Heartless to your location, so you can use that and then go onto Hands Free to farm. Purchasing with Coins: By far the best way. Each week, in addition to the Daily, Weekly and Main trials you can do in exchange for Jewels and Items, anything you do (defeating enemies, walking steps and another thing that escapes me at the time of writing) gets added to this Battle Pass. The Battle Pass gives you Coins for fighting Heartless. You rack up a lot of Coins pretty fast. You can spend 500 coins on about 1,500AP, which is a lot. It's great to keep in the back pocket for emergencies like if you've come across a rare chest but don't have enough AP. The Battle Pass tasks refresh weekly, so you can always get more coins. They also have a paid option for a Premium Pass, but this wasn't available in the Beta so I couldn't see what benefits were offered. Presumably more coins and perhaps other items like Free Pull Tickets or Jewels, similar to the VIP Pass from KHUX. I never ran out of coins, despite using them here and there in the Beta. I never walked outside apart from when I first downloaded the game and a few trips to the shop. This whole issue about AP is just a community panic. The real issue is soft locking content behind Banners. Will be feeding it back in the Survey.

It was said at the beginning, in interviews, that if you didn't want to go outside to play this, you didn't have to and it seems like they've made it possible that you really don't have to. It's really good to know. Because who wants to wander around outside on rainy or snowy days, anyway?

Blame Japan for loving mobile games so much

I played it solely on Mobile Data for the entire beta and it took 5GB. Granted, I barely used GPS mode (where you're walking around outside). GPS mode will likely rinse your data way more. I'd recommend connecting to your WiFi and playing at home. AP isn't actually an issue, there's an abundance of it and most of the Pieces in the Piece Posts are irrelevant

One other thing to add and I know some people wouldn’t actually mind this… though to make localisation/story updates easier, just keep the VAs in Japanese and only translate the text into whatever language the player’s native speaking language is. Especially, to cut costs with hiring new VAs for multilingual regions such as Europe for instance.

I played the entire beta at home. Just leave it on hands free for a while and you'll rack up AP in no time. Heartless spawn anywhere, all the time. They drop 4AP per battle and it's usually six battles at a time. Piece Posts only give you 8AP per activation and they change location every day. Some days you will have one right next to your house, some days you will not. Unless you live on a farm. AP isn't an issue. Main or Side quests don't require AP. The main issue is powerful Pieces locked behind Banners. You get free pull tickets here and there. I managed to get plenty of 3 star pieces myself, but I tried to play F2P until I couldn't progress anymore and the harder enemies for challenge quests and Piece Posts were impossible without the Banner Pieces.

You must be new to KH But anyhow KH has always been like that ever since the handheld era of gaming Spin offs has always been in popular handhelds since they are trendy in Japan and in Asia Especially in the West before. But when mobile gaming exists they went into that Market since they don't have to go to the next Nintendo handheld console and it's more economical. I know it sucks right now but they've always been like that It just so happens that Mobile Gaming is popular in Asia.

@@johanseth3277 I'm aware of the existence of spin offs. It's just a real shame that the spin offs are now just mobile games. A significant downgrade from what we used to get. I mean I hear you, mobile gaming is popular everywhere. But it's a real shame that KH has leaned so heavily into that market. A market built upon exploitation. Just kinda makes me sad the more I think about it ya know?

@@connorstace well it's economical though and it doesn't cost much plus microstransactions can be placed there It's a meta in the gaming industry and I don't think triple A companies will ever remove or not include that idea for multiplayer games. I seriously hope that the piece effect gets an option to turn it off because it adds a bunch of visual clutter to what's basically KH3 as a command deck game. What's interesting is that it doesn't even go all in on the gps game aspect. From other sources it seems like driving is actually the most optimal method of gathering AP since there's not a speed limit if you use the screen lock unlike Pokemon Go, it really does seem like they want the game to just cook in the background as you go about life until you actually feel like playing it, as opposed to Pokemon Go which outside off the Go+ pretty much demands your constant attention.

You don't need to go outside at all. I spent almost the entire time of the beta playing the game inside, minus some shop runs and my commute back home from work on one day. I'm fairly sure I got further than a lot of people. Almost maxed out my Keyblade. Only reason I didn't was because I skipped a day playing it

@@mmileymiley15 They gave some AP, Jewels, Materials and Raid/Pull tickets to account for the short amount of time the beta lasted. These were in something called 'Closed Beta Quests - Gift Quests.' The Gift Quests won't be in the full release, but I didn't spend the jewels and barely used the AP. I'll make a video on breaking down the game so it's like anyone who watches has played the Closed Beta, but the short of it is that AP isn't needed much for anything. In 'Touch Mode' (The mode where you're not walking around irl), using the Recovery Posts does nothing other than restoring HP, MP, and draining AP. Defeating enemies does nothing but acquire Materials, Items and drains AP. You can teleport to any place on the world map in exchange for AP, but you can just walk there for free - though it will take a while, it will be faster than if you try to travel in real life. Once you get there, you can place your 'Teleport Stone' which will allow you to teleport back there for free at any time you'd like. You need AP to fight Area Enemies or Area Bosses, which costs 50AP. Very cheap and a fair price for the large amount of Area Coins you receive in return. You need AP to collect Treasure Chests and Piece Posts. This is the largest spend for AP. Piece Posts can range from 800AP to around 1,300AP, which is a lot. Treasure Chests are 1,000 AP, which is a lot. I will feed this back in my survey. With that being said, the Pieces from the Posts and Treasure Chests are rarely great and you're better off using the Pieces you get from Banner Pulls. All in all, I never used the Piece Posts/Treasure Chests unless I was trying to demonstrate how they work or if I was trying to get the Special 3 Star Treasure Chest Pieces, 3 Star Piece Posts. Since there was never really much use for AP, it didn't really become an issue and I just ended up stacking it while leaving my phone in Hands Free mode. You can get around 800 AP in a few of hours or so by leaving it in Hands Free. I just left mine on all night and locked it. Phone battery was completely fine and I got 1,000s of AP once I woke up. You can probably optimise this by using the Enemy Bells which summons even more enemies to you, even more frequently. As I said, I'll make a video on this and one on the game's features, but the AP is pretty chill.

Yeah. In theory it seems more F2P friendly than UX but we'll need to get our hands on it to actually know how it pans out because it seems like our options for getting pieces are: Gacha - Needs no introduction Treasure chests - The game's equivalent to pokemon go eggs with 3 varieties Normal gives you a silver or gold piece from a gacha banner of your choice. Rainbow does the same thing but rainbow varients of pieces cost less MP, and Grand chests which from my understanding are only from area bosses and give a specific guaranteed gold piece, that's only available via grand chests and not the gacha. Piece Posts - These refresh daily and throw you against an opponent who's difficulty is dependent on the rarity you found. Problem is is that you only have 30 seconds to win, and if you can't you'll have to find another post with the same piece and resume the battle from there. Raids - By spending a ticket that works nearly exactly how Pokemon Go's raid tickets work you get a chance to get a specific gold piece from the boss, your odds going up with difficulty and your ranking in the raid. Currently only Dark Riku with stun impact can be gotten through this, but the piece will probably be determined by raid boss in the future. This is probably the dark side of why level 50 pieces even exist, because you're competing against other players for a top 3 damage output position in order to get the guaranteed Dark Riku at max level.

Genshin was genuinely the worst grinding experience I've ever had in my life, despite some good aspects the gameplay is monotonous and the RNG aspect of creating character builds is awful. I'll take this over genshin any day

Story missions and side missions don't cost AP at all so if you want to get it for that, go for it. Pokemon Go side isn't that big of a deal
