I got one. Use it to jump start my sons 2004 3L diesel rodeo as you described with the P plates lol. Best jump pack I’ve ever had. Way better than those older massive jump packs that never seem to be charged when you need them. Easy to use , very easy to store and takes up no space to carry around. Powerful enough to start a 3 litre diesel with ease.
Yes they are capable of starting most 4wd vehicles. I did not get to try this unit on one. But (from memory) they are rated up to starting a V8 petrol or diesel (but not sure of engine capacity).
