Check out my - Beast of a Coaster Merch! The best shirt to wear when you’re visiting Kings Island! themeparkmerch.myspreadshop.com/beast+of+a+coaster+merch?idea=643a15067fe3593d5349adb5
Parking tip: Enter the parking lot on the left side, this dumps you on the parking lot to the left of the KI sign. This side tends to be less crowded (most people go right), but more importantly has been redone recently so has more clear parking spots. The right side lot can be rather mad max with what's a spot.
My first ride on the Beast, around '83 or '84, we waited close to 4 hours. We only rode once. A few years later we went on a week day and were able to ride 3 times, including a dusk and night ride. In '93 I waited about 20 minutes with a friend of mine early in the day. We wanted to do a night ride, but it was down for a couple of hours. When it opened back up, the line stretched to the fountain lol.
And, if there is a chance of rain in the forecast on your planned day, GO to the park! My last several visits have had a chance of rain, including a Saturday that we lost 2 hours to the storm, but the park was so empty because of the threat. Locals seem to all stay home if there's a chance of rain. Everything was almost a walk-on all day, even on a Saturday. I got so much done during the times when we didn't have lightning, and as you said, they'll run the rides if it's only rain. I dressed accordingly (and my phone stayed in the car), and got tons of rain rides one visit, including a solo front row ride on the Beast.
I love this park i go here all the time its my home park and i will try some of these tips in the park and what i have found is that the Best days are Tuesday and Thursday during the summer
I got a night ride on diamondback in 2019. I was riding in the very last row and the fireworks just started going off as we crested the lift hill! It was by far my favorite ride on any coaster ever!
Visited mid may during the week, when school was in session. It was PACKED. 150 school and charter busses in the parking lot that day. Almost every school in the area uses it as a field trip. June is a lot less crowded.
We went jthe the last 2 hours on passholder preview day and left at 6:30 on Saturday opening day. It was a fun time. Ride lines were ridiculously long so fast lane was well worth it. Operations were very slow which was expected. Too many kids running around unsupervised though
I’m exited to go here, especially since I’m going on my birthday. I’m also exited not only for the coasters but the blue ice cream, I’m also gonna wear a block zone shirt and yell the definition of a block zone while on the beast
got myself a platinum pass this year for Cedar Point and decided to take a road trip to Carowinds and Kings Dominion with the help of your techniques it made lines a breeze. Hoping to make it to kings island again really soon but hopefully its better than this opening weekend (from what I heard it was pretty bad)
Great video man! We just left there, all your recommendations are spot on! Since KI is doing a 2nd year of the Phantom Theatre show, do you think its a hint its coming back next year? That would make for a good video!
Yes and as a heads up the park has a new chaperon policy as well if you are under 15 and in the park after 4 you will need a chaperon 21 or older with you at the park
Very useful tips for our upcoming summer roadtrip, thanks! A section you might consider adding are lockers. It’s my understanding it’s very different from European parks and also very different per park in the US.
As a local I can tell you that if you go the first few weeks after the park opens for mon-thurs the place is empty before 5 and only season pass locals after that. the same thing happens for the end of august when ohio schools go back. we go up there that week every year and have days of unlimited walkons or less than 15min waits the only thing that stops those days is just being exhausted from the back to back to back rides. My sister and I did a dozen son of beast rides in a day
Another important suggestion I have would be to get to the waterpark right away when they open or shortly afterwards. When I went there in 2015, it was even busier than the main park and I only had time to do each slide complex once and that doesn't even conclude the family raft slide or the funnel slide. I also suggest getting this blue flavored ice cream for desert. I didn't know about that on my last visit, but I hear it's pretty good so I'll have to try it when I go there this summer.
Your recommendations certainly have made me more excited. I’ll being using all your tips on my up coming trip from June 9th - 10th for my birthday on June 9th!
These guides are so fun to watch. You do such an amazing job breaking down every element of a park. I'm planning a trip to Ohio for 2024 and I will be watching this and the CP guides and taking notes. My home park is SFNE and I think it would be awesome if you did an ultimate guide to our little park by the river!!! Keep being awesome, smile today, and jeep riding coasters😊
A few more dinning tips: -Don't sleep on Jukebox Diner. This isn't like most Cedar Fair retro diners. Their double patty cheeseburger and melts are of the same quality as Brewhouse. Most Cedar Fair retro diners (like Carowinds Juke Box)are like McDonald's in quality, but for KI think more Five Guys. -Don't get blue ice-cream at planet Snoopy. It is served throughout the park in places with far shorter lines than the massive one at Planet Snoopy. Also, ask for a cup/bowl with your cone. You still get the cone, but don't have to worry about it melting down your hand. -If the KI food truck is out, prioritize it. The KI food truck offers unique, seasonal items that are usually fully covered under the dinning plan. Last year it ran in summer and fall, next to the eiffel tower and in soak city.
Thanks for this terrific video. FYI, I was there two days in August last year, a Thursday and. Friday, and neither day required a FastLane. Lines were never more than about 10 minutes and I usually less. I’ll be there again on May 17 and again about a week later. Very excited!
Hotel tip: the hotels right off 71 at Kings Mills are a great budget friendly bed and shower. The super 8 isn't bad, and is usually the cheapest. Usually can get that, or the microtel that's on the other side of the road for around $80 per night.
I did the suburban extended stay (under Choice hotels) for a week in Blue Ash and it was $49 per night for a full 8 day experience at Kings Island. This was this past August.
@@jandrew1994 I did the extended stay before too. Also, the Best Western, on Mason Montgomery Rd is always a good price, and the breakfast there is good too. Plus, they have an indoor pool.
I usually go banshee, then reride it if the line is short enough, to mystic timbers, then diamondback, after diamond back I’ll either ride the beast or go to Orion, after my last ride I head for the beast 100%.
Great video! I hope CF builds a hotel here like what they did for Carowinds, next to Soak City, there's plenty of land there, it would make the park more money as well, from 2018 to now, there has been 2 hotels/Inns built near the park, and the Camp Cedar RV Resort as well, close enough to the park to walk, especially to Soak City, and great views of the park, so there is a market for it, Texas Roadhouse is being built nearby as well. Maybe you can make some guide videos about Halloween Haunt and Winterfest. Going to be a fun year!
My advice for Kings Island: just go. Seriously out of all the amusement parks I have visited Kings Island offers the best amusement park experience. There is literally almost nothing bad about this park at all. Even if there was any inconveniences during my visit the great things about this park is enough to make you forget about the inconveniences. The worst thing about kings island is leaving the park especially if you live an 8 hour drive from the park like I do. 😆
No Realistically the worst thing about KI is that it's a B&M heavy park with nothing really thrilling like an Intamin or RMC. It's got great food choices like Chicken Shack and a great water park... if you're willing to walk in the heat to it or wait for the train.
@@jandrew1994 i would agree that KI could really use a RMC but honestly i had an absolute blast there. could not recommend it more. if you're willing to make the drive and have the time, i would definitely double up Cedar Point with Kings Island
34 😂 dang, son... haha.. sounds great ngl.. I went for the first time essentially this year.. worst part was my youngest is like 2 inches too short for the bigger rides.. she was the one most amped to ride them too.. I had to drag my older kids and they are both over 13.. lol
Great video! I enjoyed watching! I can't think of anything to add to what you said. I used to think the Racer was rough and thought of it as a one and done ride anytime I went but I haven't ridden it in a few years. Yes all the other coasters are very reridable though.
This one is next on my list its about 6 hours from me so the half day then full day recommendation is probably a good one. I am also looking to also hit Cedar Point as well on the same trip.
Just wanted to give you some inside knowledge about Kings Dominion. They profited 52 million last year and are starting to build a new ride on a 3 acre plot of land they bought
I was gonna go there but I got a great deal on Carowinds. But I'll use my platinum pass I bought this year for either King's Island or California's Great America if the former is too expensive, but either way this year will be a good year for me riding coasters. I may do both parks this year, but that's unlikely after Carowinds. Thankks for posting, thanks for the tips and keep riding!
Great guide! I honestly found that if you ride Orion first Flight of Fear wont even be open yet and a lot of times after I got off Orion the queue for Flight of Fear had just opened and it was an extremely short wait so you could just hop on right away. Either way probably works though. I'm just saying this because it happened to me a lot of times when I went.
I was there yesterday. There were signs up at Festhaus that did not permit one to cut through the building from either direction. The north doors were exits only, now. I don’t know if this is a permanent change, but that’s what they were doing.
I think they do this during large crowd days. On slower days they have no signs up, on crowded days they do, and on really crowded ones, they have people there enforcing that policy.
I live right by Cedar point and it’s a real shame that I’ve never been to Kings island! It looks awesome! Also, why do they get to keep the “Soak City” name. It was so much cooler than “Cedar point shores”😂
What's up brother... After a hectic weekend I finally made it out to Kings Island today for about 5 hours and got to ride everything! Started off at Starbucks to get some hot energy and just kind of feel the crowd out but it was a mild crowd bcuz of an overcast day so it was perfect! and ride-ops were great as usual, I can tell the new people from the experienced ones and even the new ones have obviously been trained very well and are getting right into the groove of things making everything run smoothly 🎉 No new areas are open yet obviously but it was nice to get out and get on some great coasters, Mystic Timbers and Diamondback we're both hauling and feeling great, KEEP RIDING COASTERS!!!
Spend 2 days and start in Action Zone and work your way clockwise through the park. Finish up in Rivertown and head to International Street for dinner, ice cream and fireworks at the end of the night!
I took my adult kids to KI last year for Halloween Haunt and it was one of the most memorable weekends of our lives. They are top notch there! Great video!
Halloween Haunt at Kings Island has the most draconian stupid bag policy of all time. Like I get not taking bags on coasters but not even into the park? Oct. 28th, 2022. Even CP doesn't do that. They lost my business and hopefully others' too over that.
@@jandrew1994 Sadly a few have ruined it for the majority. We did not have that issue since we were at the park all day. The bag policy started right when haunt started, maybe 6pm? So although I was aware of the policy it didn't affect us.
I have never Ben to this park. I always prefer Christmas, then possibly Halloween. All coasters are not open for Christmas so I go elsewhere. I am wondering Are there places to eat within a 20 min walk to ‘ from park?? Thanks in advance. Outstanding all around
I will be visiting by myself on Tuesday June 20. I'll probably be getting a FAST Lane. Any recommendations on which rides to do first since I'll most likely have the Fast Lane?
I am planing a trip to USA. on my list of parks are Six flags Greate Aadventure, Cedar Point and last Six Flags Magic Mountain. I dont plan to rent a car. I have free living in New York at a friends house. I plan to visit all parks at minimum 3-4 days per park. What park do you recommend? Any other recommend how to get to the park without a car?
For an extra 25 dollars, you can get a funday pass, it gives you parking, plus unlimited meals, only catch is they have to be 90 minutes apart. That’s an absolute crazy deal
Hey Brandon! I’m going to the park for my first time this summer. What’s your ideal plan of attack to hit all the credits, and do you have any other tips you didn’t mention? The video was awesome!
Did you know Kings island no longer have fast lane PLUS, everything is in the park including the water park is now on FAST LANE. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens to Cedar Point.
So in terms of food if you have your ticket paid for and you can't get a meal deal how much cash should I bring to buy food. Mind you I know I'm getting a souvenir cup
@@KeepRidinCoasters figured that one out late in the season last year. Also my recommendation for, where to get the blue ice cream. The path north of the tower, if you take a right at the garden clock. There is a small hut a lot the path. Almost never has a line and they have the blue ice cream.
I'm curious if anyone in these comments has suggestions for how to entertain kids while waiting in these lines? I'm thinking about games like "eye spy" or even something like a magnetic chess game. My family will be spending a lot of time in these lines at various parks throughout the summer. Looking for a way to help pass that time. Thanks.
One more tip for the taller folk. Do not get a wheel seat on flight of fear. It will be impossible to fit. You want to sit in the back of all trains not front.
KI looks cool but the Bengals lost to the Rams in super bowl 56 by a score of 23-20. Cant be visiting the losers park! How many super bowls must mahomes win before worlds of fun gets a giga?
@@koalakyle19 .. last year I went to DOLLYWOOD on vacation.. I've been to Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland a million times.. Might go next year to Kings Island..This years vacation is already planned.. We're going back to Hawaii to stay at the Aulani Resort.. I love stay at the Aulani..
@@skyeblue5669 Kings Island is strictly an amusement park, compared to the theme parks that your used to. Not much theming with Kings Island, but they do such a great job with fast operations and a very deep and diverse lineup of rides. Dollywood is my favorite park I've ever been to, but I always enjoy my time at Kings Island as well.
