I've been a Pixies fan for 30 years. I could play bass or drums to 90% of their songs. I wasn't a KOL fan at first but my buddy told me that KOL loved the Pixies. I started checking out the other than radio play songs and instantly could here the influence. Guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Then I watched Talihina Sky and saw them talk about the Pixies. KOL every day.
Honestly, how Some goth kid gave Jared a CD that had the title “The pixies” on the front made him underestimate that’s kids taste in music, love that they addressed it
Music is always subjective but I think Caleb introduced a level of energy to this song unmatched by other covers. Hands down my favorite take on the song.
Whoa, check-out the killer vocals on Caleb. Intense. It's stretched to the max, so perfect for this song. A+!!! this is the best cover out there, next to the other live version from KOL.
I literally just read a page of complaining and people who think they're critics. The sound isn't perfect because it's live. Sounds good to me, nice and rough, but not too rough. They covered this VERY well.
How can anyone dislike this song? Kings of Leon will forever be in my mind, one of the best rock bands. Their sound is so different than the usual mainstream music you can hear on the radio! Yes, I know they're kind of mainstream now, but they still have the good ole' sound like they always have! KOL
The Pixies were one of KOLs biggest influences growing up. As a huge KOL, I love hearing them stick to their roots and cover a band that had so much influence on them
Wow! is a awesome version! I'm so love Celeb voice !!!! Its own of the best voices of the all band rock! and Kings Of Leon it's really the kings of everyone! amizing!!! love it!!!!!!!! :))
Wow... what a great job covering this. They totally nailed it. This song was so amazing for its time.... a generation ahead of itself. One funny side note about this cover though is that whenever I play it in the background I always notice that one of the instruments starts to sound like a car beeping at you when you open the door with your keys still in the ignition and the engine off.
One of my favourite bands covering one of my favourite songs. This is such a perfect cover. Does justice to Pixies, while still giving it that little KOL kick ;) Perfect.
Read their story before you pass judgement. Do some research; understand why they cover this song. Understand music, don't just listen to this song and throw any ridiculous comment in. It is a great cover, a tribute to the birth of their band and a bow to the Pixies. Kings of Leon are the most self developed band around, and talented beyond words! Over the years they’ve managed to evolve as a band and produce song after song of phenomenal music.
KOL is my favorite band EVER. I'm as big a music fan as they come and they take the cake. INHO, this is better than the original version. I wish I had Calebs voice. One of the best singing voices ever for a rock band.
@habanaman amen to that! Nobody hardly respected Pixies back in the day, so it is very cool to see them finally getting the recognition they so richly deserve!
I love Where Is My Mind & the Pixies & the Kings Of Leon but everyone covers it or it gets used in movies et al Pixies have loads of mind blowing songs Crackity Jones, Mr Grieves, Nimrod's Son, Levitate Me, Into The White, Dig For Fire, Wave Of Mutilation................
Imho, Fiona Apple and Caleb Followill-are _indisputably,_ the two Greatest Singers of the modern era. I’d say they’re the Greatest Singers we’ve had since: Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley, & Eddie Vedder.
sometimes songs are just songs on themselves. it doesn't matter who's making them come to life at the moment. we dont have recordings of Beethoven or Mozart .This was pretty good. Thanks KOL, not bad guys...
