Same type of loader they used in Enniscorthy for loading the ballast trains. I used to love hearing the ballast being loaded we'd head down to see who was driving, if it was one of the nice lads you'd spend the day with them in the cab.
Brilliant footage!! Thanks so much for sharing this, always great to see anything of the North Meath line, this is a treasure trove. Shame that other than the gypsum this line was a bit useless seeing as it didn't really serve any population bases (a nice mile-long walk up the hill to Kingscourt town from the station). Wasn't it meant to go on to Clones or something? That's right, supposed to have been a main line route between Dublin-Belfast via Navan, Carrickmacross, Armagh, only the Dublin-Navan section was built to main line standard, with the Kingscourt section less so.
