Back when I had this game, my brother and I would play together all the time, and we had this agreement that anytime we found a legendary piece, we'd tell each other about it. His favorite was the Hydra, and mine was the Dragoon. We had more than one interesting match where we each had our favorite rides. I miss this game so much.

This brings me back growing up, Gamecube was all I really had until later when I got an 360 and even then I still played the hell out of my Gamecube. I still have all of my games and my system too including the cd case that came with it, shit's about 10-11 years old by now and still runs perfectly. Also still got the LoZ collector's edition too, first time a promo CD convinced me to buy a game, which ended up being Windwaker of course. Those were some good times This game was the hardest yet the best ever, I never managed to get any of the specials and I spent so much time playing City Trial I know it like the back of my hand

I thought everyone knew this was possible. I've done it more than once. Plus you get white kirby from doing it, so it's not like they made it impossible.

Kirby Air Ride is still an awesome (and underrated) game. I still have my original GameCube (with a Broadband Adapter) and my original copy of Kirby Air Ride, and both work great. The LAN option is fun, too; I have three other GameCube's that also have Broadband Adapter's. Playing the City Trial mode with four TV's, four GameCube's, and three other players is one of the most amazing experiences I've had in 25+ years of playing video games.

I believe you want weights. They stop you from sliding when you stop.

Hydra is better than dragoon, if you touch another player with it, they die instantly, it's hilarious.

I wanted to see you collect the last Hydra piece with the Dragoon...

I thought it would be cool if they had a special Legendary Air Ride if you found both the Hydra AND Dragoon pieces and all 6 pieces combined together.

Kirby needs more 3D treatment. It limits my enjoyment of the Kirby franchise that this is the only 3D Kirby game.

If there was a mix between dragoon and hydra it would be called hydroon

@xXSorixasXx by the way, not every place with an orange box will contain Dragoon/Hydra pieces. Only orange boxes in certain places will. Like the cave under whispy woods

My little cousin came over today and wanted to play this. I forgot how much fun it is not to mention how good it is seeing as it's almost 10 years old!

I don't want to seem like an asshole, but I usually get the Hydra or Dragoon every time I play. Probably like 8 times out of 10, and I'd say 4/10 I get both. I don't know if my game is bugged or something or because I always know where the boxes with pieces will spawn, but getting a legendary seems to be a normal occurrence for me.

I remember buying this game from GameStop. It didn't work. They gave me another disc. That one didn't work either, so I just ended up breaking the disc. Ahh, good times.

According to both Kirby wikis, it actually increases weight, providing a straighter gliding path, preventing sliding, and reducing knockback from attacks. That said, there are disadvantages and advantages to increasing or decreasing it. As I previously stated, I prefer the effects gained from negative weight patches (being able to rise vertically while still keep your vehicle straight), but I am aware of the increased amount of sliding that will come about as consequence.

Once me and a sibling managed to summon both legendary stars. And then the stadium was for gliding.

Hmm... after testing, this is true. Each weight patch seems to increase top speed by about .50 (at least for the Compact Star, probably more or less for other vehicles). Although, I think I'll still prefer having about -2 or -3 collective weight because the Top Speed patches I collect will negate that small issue and the other reasons I listed all still apply. Thank you for telling me about that property; I never knew about that before honestly, and I find it fairly interesting.

My cousins and I were playing. My cousin Mike had 2 Hydra pieces and a Dragoon piece. I had 2 Dragoon peices and a Hydra peice, we hit each other. Both the peices we needed dropped from the other person, so we both Grabbed our peices at the same time and the screen split in two ans both Vehicles assembled SIMULTANEOUSLY!! It was the most epic moment of my time with air ride. :DDD

If anyone is wondering what happens when you construct the two: the first one you collected disappears. What I don't know is if the pieces respawn so you can get it again.

I feel like they should have made it where when you get both the Dragoon and the Hydra in the same round, it makes the Hydragoon. Requires half the amount of charge is 1.5x speed of Dragoon, and can glide just as well as the dragoon. (or half)

I still have this game since like 2004 or around there and it is my favorite game for multiplayer.This is a favorite for me cause it was a great game when I played with my friends with all the anger of your friend becauseof you destroying the thier star while you laugh and all the fun of racing.

I was deathly addicted to this game back in the day. Not a clue why reviewers would put so much hate on the game as they seem to have done- I'm definitely not into racing games, but this one was unique.

I SO hope they make a sequel. i think that when you get BOTH a hydra and dragoon, you get another legendary air ride machine, or just add another air ride machine. or let you COMBINE vehicles to make new ones. or even make a custom vehicle!

This game is really fun, it makes me nostalgic the most out of any games I have played.

Was wanna' my favorite racing games. Had a neat style and the amount of different things you could ride was pretty awesome. The mode selections were cool too. Looking forward to playing this again.

I know this is an old post, and someone may have mentioned already... though if you still play this, you wouldn't have gotten hydra by picking up the last piece; they fuse together into a single god-like star (in terms of stats) and the skin is simply whichever one of them you'd completed first. It would have stayed Dragoon and kept the stats of both. -edit Sorry, it's been a while, so I got it mixed up. if you'd have gotten hydra first, it would have turned to dragoon with the stats of both. The second one you complete is the actual skin you get, not the first; my bad.

One of the best games ever, in my opinion. I always seemed to enjoy the underrated gamecube games. I remember me and my sisters could last hours playing free game.

for the longest time I couldn't remember what this game was called I just had a vague memory of driving around an open map with sick racers and collecting parts with my friends. God this was so fun to watch lol

The dragoon was used mainly for speed and slight rather than attack in air ride. Makes a good Colosseum match un-balancer.

(continued from previous reply) Also, I do not believe that weight ups really affect your air time at all, but there is the chance that I am wrong. I usually get weight downs simply because I enjoy having my vehicle gain altitude while still flying forward.

From what I understand, the first part isn't really a contest in a way. It's more "build your racer to be better than the others'". Of course, that comes with pros and cons, depending on what arena follows it. Sometimes, you build just right; others, you fail horribly or miserably. x3 But, I suppose, that's all of the fun! ;D

Without a doubt one of the best games made. Absolute legendary game. I think we all played this specific game with our siblings! Game cube was one of the best consoles for sure

I dont know why but I recall collecting both the machines peices in one game and it giving me a mix of the two (damage of hydra, gliding of dragoon) but I'm pretty sure it was a dream then...I dont know why I think this but it apparently popped into my head at one point...

I totally agree man, me and my friends played this game for hours! We would go to Free Trial and the clock would hit 99:59 and we'd still be running around killing each other lol.

Two things: Nintendo, Sakurai has been good to you with Smash Bros. Give us a 3ds version of this game. Second, wheelie scooter/"the lawnmower" (That's what I always call it. Don't judge.) are the best for this stadium. For the scooter, it takes some careful analog stick timing- hold back while approaching the jump, then as soon as you leave the ground, hold down the rest of the way. (Over 4000 feet I think, non upgraded.) For the lawnmower, when you leave the jump, press A as fast as you possibly can the whole way. (A turbo button does work I think) Using this method, I have actually hit the back wall, around 8.5 thousand feet.

good old kirby air ride, wish they had made a newer one on the wii, without motions (i hate motions for a personal reason) cant they make an extended version of it to the wii, as a last real game on the wii? :O
