Kirby and Elfilin: Simple Yet Spirited | A Friendship Analysis 

Ah, what a way to commemorate Kirby & The Forgotten Land's 1st Anniversary! I still can't believe it's already been a year since we breached the Z-axis for the first time in a mainline entry and were subsequently welcomed to a New World. This analysis of Kirby and Elfilin's friendship is a perfect showcase of how there can still be hope when faced with the unknown. And yeah, Elfilin IS indeed the best companion we've gotten in Kirby history, not counting a certain spear-wielding friend, self-made king and chocolate addict- I MEAN masked warrior. Outstanding work on this, and Happy 1st Anniversary to Kirby & The Forgotten Land!

The friendship at the core of KatFL makes me so happy. Kirby’s powerful heart makes him the anti-horror protagonist, and Elfilin’s whole existence is proof that the best of us can come from anywhere. At this point I hardly remember when or how I fell in love with them, so this was just the video I needed💕

Thank God there is someone out on this Earth who understands that Elfilin is simply peak creature Regardless of what some may think of his personality (or lack thereof), I agree to disagree and say that he and Kirby are Best Friends. I'm talking Bandee levels of buddies. I swear every cutscene in this game shines with the amount of love these two small guys have for each other Banger video, objectively correct opinions, stellar editing. You WON

i should mention a similarity between kirby and elfilin! they both have. absolutely insane powers behind the scenes (haha funny lore) for both of them being yknow! *canonical kids.* but that's not just some "random" thing. i think for future kirby games it gives them the opportunity to grow in both personality and power *together*, as there STILL are things about them that us, the players, likely don't know. this in turn really makes me hope that elfilin becomes a recurring character in the mainline games, and hopefully main 4 becomes main 5. and besides, it's only been one game- maybe elfilin's character arc isn't over just yet. yknow what they say: when one story ends, another one begins. and i think that can be well said for the two of them right now. there's no doubt about it that the bond between them is different than what we've seen in earlier kirby games, and i hope hal continues to develop the friendship.

Elfilin didn't come back twelve seconds later, it's implied that the New World runs on a different timeframe from Dream Land. The Waddle Dees built an entire town and apparently were fighting the Beast Pack for months before Kirby arrived even though they got sucked into the portal around the same time as Kirby. Post game dialogue from Elfilin states that Clawroline found Elfilin and nursed him back to health so while it was twelve seconds for Kirby, it was probably months for Elfilin.

0:03 Eternal misery. I've had horrible nightmares and intrusive imagination thoughts about it. Being cold, restrained, and alone in a silent darkness, never sleeping and never dying, crying constantly as I beg for it to end, to not be alone and trapped. And a horrible green power forcing me alive, coursing through my body and forcing energy onto every fatigued and worn cell and every single pain receptor to continue doing their job. Oh, and complicated unknowns. Gender? Sure it's complex and nebulous, but it's not instant life or death or eternal misery if you get it wrong. Paperwork? At 15:00, the question I was asking myself wasn’t “what did they want with Elfillin” but “wait what’s elfillins gender im confused”

Okay let’s be honest. is Elfilin adorable? Yes. But compared to other Kirby characters he has no personality. His personality is he is helpful and Kirby’s best friend. That’s it. Same thing with the beast pack they are just animals that Forgo controlled. Forgo though is a great character with one of the most fleshed out backstories in the series. The beast pack and elfilin are missed opportunities they have great designs (except for Claworine burn it with fire). My idea is maybe before you fight one of the bosses the boss would talk and elfilin could translate for Kirby what they are saying we know that he can understand them I’m pretty sure that would have helped give the characters more personality.
