Good, like Barbra Streisand she should be tough. The Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is perfection. This is marvelous that she will not slow down. Her heart is creative to think better for our generation. Absolutely love Dame Kiri Te Kanawa! Time has had a reverse effect in her. She is even more beautiful now than before. And the voice still hauntingly beautiful. I love the fact that she has the foundation now. Wish she would include Washington DC for a recital.

I waited on her in Boston in the 90s. She was so down to earth and approachable. When I nervously asked her for her autograph after dinner and thanked her she caught me off guard when she said" no, thank you" with that beautiful beaming smile. I think she was floored that in a room of about 250 strangers I knew who she was. I love that memory

God knows why the segment opened with the vidalita “ El árbol del olvido“. Madame TK evidently does not understand it. Is not funny. Is about this lover who fell asleep under this tree trying to forget his/her love only to find out that he or she forgot what he or she was trying to forget! Listen to Carreras singing it for a better understanding of what the song is all about. This was the selection KTK chose to interject at the Met during her farewell performances in La Fille du Regiment when it fell flat. A true disappointment then and now when listening to this excerpt. Miss Kiri will always make the short list of top sopranos but not singing Argentinian folk songs that she does not understand.
