#captainkirk #jamestkirk #jameskirk #startrek #startrekstrangenewworlds #laan #paulwesley #christinachong I don't own anything. All right goes to the Paramount+ Star Trek
To be fair, Kelvin Kirk still drove a car off a cliff, which wasn't exactly 'good' driving. Also it was to spite his abusive stepfather. So... not really mad about that.
Two fun Easter Eggs to the original series-in "Naked Time" Kirk told Spock he wanted Spock to teach him the Vulcan neck pinch someday. Kinda makes sense that, given six months of isolation with a Vulcan, he'd follow through and learn it. And then him having problems getting the car out of reverse right at the start is a direct call back to "Piece of the Action" when he tries to drive a 1930's era Model T. Obviously having automatic transmission's over the old clutches made it easier for him to drive :)
People have asked why she doesnt just change her name. But rememeber her other trauma - the Gorn attack. It has left her terrified of feeling or seeming to be weak or defeated. To change her name would be to (in her mind) admit defeat which she wont allow. She has two major traumas in her past and she over compensates as a result of both of them. Its fascinating really, she is a phsycological wreck who nevertheless functions well.
2:00 the first indication of what the deviation between the two timelines is. the fact that Kirk doesn't recognize the name Noonien-Singh--a name that in the Prime universe is as recognizable as Hitler--is concerning
I can understand Kelvin Kirk being able to drive a car like a boss after figuring out the gears, since he did it as a kid, but this alt-Kirk was born in, grew up in, and lived in space. Where did he get access to a car? It sort of puts a kink in later TOS Kirk driving jerkily in Chicago and Nazi era autos. Although going the wrong direction was a good nod.
@@EGWest65 "A Piece of the Action" was the Episode where Kirk "Bunny Hop's" a car all over the place, BUT as Mentioned this KIRK Dies, but being from a Different Timeline than "Our" Kirk, he can have a Different Skill set ..
... So this Kirk learned telepathy? 'Cause if I remember right, the novelization of the movies had an explanation where the nerve pinch requires touch telepathy to work. Any which way, amazing, glad they brought it back.
Drive with your mirrors, don't turn your head. If you take the view in the mirror literally, and don't consider it 'reversed', you can turn the steering wheel like you would normally. Need to turn to the right on a street 'coming up' in your mirrors? Turn right! The view in the mirror of course isn't reversed. It's an accurate reflection of what's behind you, but so many folks think it's reversed because they assume the image they see is in _front_ of them is _beyond_ the mirror. It's not. That person lifting their left hand when you lift your right hand is you and that's your right hand you see.
This is a very deviated timeline, Kirk is in Toronto according to thd names on the police cars, yet he is driving on the sidewalk in front of the library in downtown Vancouver.
