Totally talented... and yet extremely humble and down to earth. And THAT is rare these days. What we have mostly is mainstream no talent, on a total ego trip, and in outer space somewhere. Oh and... everything is 'computer generated' and 'time compiled' and 'fixed' and 'overdubbed' and 'auto tuned' to death. At least the producers haven't totally destroyed blues artists and music YET. But what passes for R & B and rock and/or so-called country these days... forget it. Or maybe I'm just getting old. I can tell you one thing... in the 70's and 80's and 90's you KNEW who it was because music actually sounded different. In two notes you knew it was B.B. King... in two fricking notes. You knew it was Buddy Guy or Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown or Stevie Ray or Eric. Two words sung and you knew it was Rush or Sticks or Bad Company or Journey or the Four Tops or the Temptations or James Brown or on and on and on. Even the 'bubblegum' bands had their own sound. Now... I can't even tell what style of music it is, let alone have any idea who it is. If this is 'progress'... we need to back-date the check!!! There are fourteen stations saved on my car stereo. A combination of top 40 and rock and classic rock and country. Most of the time i get to hear one song... then it's through all fourteen channels... and then saying f it and turning it off. Sad considering I could listen to this man talk... not play but just talk about playing... all day and all night. And playing... yeah he has my undivided attention. But............... he is 'old school'... he is my school.
I'm not going to lie: I did not want this video to end. Kirk seems like such a down to earth kind of guitarist and it's really refreshing to see someone who plays so well and remains so humble at the same time. Loads of good vibes!
Joe Marcos - When I was young, I fell hard for Blues guitar. I received my first guitar when I was 10 and I found, almost immediately, that playing made my lonely days less so, my headaches not hurt so much, and my sorrow at the loss of loved ones not so debilitating. Kirk’s playing touches off so many wonderful feelings inside. I think if the world could experience someone playing music like that, this world would finally know a global day of peace!
People say Kirk seems so down to earth, such a nice guy.. Well, he is, and the 'cool' you see, is natural and just his way.. He is one of those players who inspire. If you met him, he is the same out at a gig, or club, as you see now. The only difference is you see him in from of you. He is truly a kind and generous person and inspires all who meets him. One of the most supportive genuine persons I have encountered in the industry.
TexasTornado187 - Dennis Haysbert...played the Sergeant Major on the series The Unit. Also played Pres. Palmer on 24. But I don’t think he sounds like anybody but Kirk Fletcher.
@@matthewhorizon6050 yeah. I dont think his technique is particularly "clean". Even so, its kind of a weird thing to point out in a comment like that lol.
THANK YOU! Hadn't heard this guy before. Now I will look for more of his music. I will also support his career by " Buying some if his music!!" If we don't support them. They tend to go away! Thanx again.
Soon as he spoke, I went in to relax mode. What a voice! My musical diet has another ingredient in the form of this guy. Thank you for bring that to my attention!
Funny, that Moo Moo guitar goes off in his hands and he leans back laughing, like YUP, I just spanked this guitar for y’all ... 🤘🎸🎸 Humble and wicked good, nice interview format 👍
Not familiar with Kirk Fletcher but he seems like an awesome player and a great guy. Very down to earth and according to this video he gets a ton of sounds out of a really simple setup. Impressive!
Kirk is a great blues player. What I love is his overdrive tone is an extension of his clean tone using mainly the guitar volume to overdrive the amp. Also his days in the swing bands has really paid off giving him a great sense of rhythm. He can sing well too. Kirk and Robben Ford are it for me.
Why would anyone dislike this video? I can only assume they're not guitarists and don't like music, but then why watch it in the first place! Crazy people out there
I agree with what so many others have said here in the Comments: this interview and his playing could've gone on all day long and I would've watched every minute of it, never wanting it to end.
Kirk is such a positive guy so sweet and positive vibe kinda guy, i like your playbing also. Your the kinda guy you want to spend time with all the time when your down, he is so positive.h3 makes your day. Thanks kirk 👍👍👍
"it depends on the mood" - Kirk is a fantastic player and a very nice guy. (The pedalboard is small and fine - Kirk is playing with his feeling for vibrato....so very good!) Thanx fo Mike Landau - he is doin' the support for Kirk!
Very subtle player, attack & tones. I was surprised to see all those pedals, reminds me of Robin Ford in the sense that the pedals are there slightly enhancing his natural talent and personal tonality.
Man i hear "peace" in his playing - idk if that makes sense to other people. Guitar people will always struggle to explain things with words and instead do it with their guitar.
Funny, I play blues guitar and I already get it, but he makes me get it bit more. He is so cool, if a Doctor took his temperature, he would pronounce him deceased.
Inspiration for having all the shit together! Just above, I saw somebody commenting on his humble paddle board, for such a giant. "Simplicity, the ultimate sophistication."
I didn't know Kirk at all. Just saw him for the first time and heard his voice. His style of music, his way of playing the blues in a manifold way, gave me again more inspirations. Especially also by the sound of his guitar and: his voice. Oh yes, I am 69 years old. Bought a used Telecaster MIM and got lucky with it. Am totally in love with it. Thanks for the information and stay well. Regards Volker
I’m 60 and just started my electric guitar playing journey…I wished this gentleman could come by my house and teach me how to play like he does …and pick his brain of knowledge some…
Found my new favorite guitar player through a guest appearance on Brett Papa RU-vid Channel, now I can’t stop checking out Fletchers playing his playing and tone is perfect to my ears
This shows you don’t need all these scales to make great blues music ... most blues guitarist now want to know every way they can become more technical when it’s really just vibrato and good taste
Kirk is such an amazing player. If you haven't checked out his new album called "Hold On," I strongly suggest that you do. The playing and guitar tones on that album are out of this world!
watched a buddy guy video many years ago where he showed how he would play finger style with a pick jammed in a crease in his palm, to switch it up, with the pick ready to go at moments notice. The trick was in switching between the two and not dropping them on stage when switching.
Not only a brilliant guitarist and stylist, but easily the most charming guy on the circuit today. A joy to listen to and a joy to be in conversation with. Thanks, Guitarist Magazine!
Man fantastic tone! I'm more of a strat guy but Kirk makes the tele sing with so much character! I'm so impressed by the warmth he can get out of his guitar.
